Chapter 31: The Chosen One of Sin (5)
"What is this place, how did I get here?" said Thoth, standing between the massive rock walls, looking deep into the dark depths of the crevices.
He walked around the rock wall for an unknown number of laps, but each time he returned to the same starting point.
Is this a labyrinth that you can't get out of? Thoth's cold sweat was already dripping. Stunned, he picked up a sharp stone from the ground, drew an arrow on the rock wall, and walked again in the direction it pointed.
He stumbled on and on until he was back to square one again.
"Ahh
"The Chosen One, you must find a way out, or you will be lost here for the rest of your life!" a faint woman's voice sounded a long distance from him in the distance.
"Who are you, why are you here?" said Toth, listening intently in the direction the voice was coming from.
"I am ......"
As soon as Toth heard the two words, there was a terrifying howl of beasts in the labyrinth.
The howl engulfed the faint voice. Toth stood up, his legs shaking.
“...... He's coming! I can't beat his magic!Remember, get rid of him no matter what!"
"Where are you, please help me!" shouted Thoth.
There was no answer.
Could it be that the woman has already left?
A cold wind blew through the crevices in the rock, causing Toth to shiver.
"I can't believe I can't get out!" said Toth, moving his feet, and once again set out on the journey.
He walked aimlessly until the rock face was covered with arrowheads...... Until he heard heavy footsteps behind him.
He quickly turned around and saw a huge swarthy figure crouching on the ground, two blood-red eyes staring at him without blinking!
Oh my God, what kind of scary thing is that? Toth touched his body, oh no, where's my sword?
He waved his hand, oh no, what about my divine bow?
He watched in horror as the black shadow slowly approached, picked up the scattered stones on the ground and threw them with all his might: "Get out, get out, get away from me!"
The black shadow was not forced back by the stone that split his face, but instead jumped and rushed towards him!
"Help!" Toth tried to shout, but his throat spasmed and he couldn't speak, so he had to turn and flee in a hurry!
However, he did not escape far, and was immediately overturned by a huge force behind him, and fell into the mud. Before he could recover his senses, the monster's massive body had pressed him tightly to the ground and couldn't move!
He could already smell the stench coming out of the monster's bloody mouth! slime trickling from between the monster's teeth and dripping on his stiff neck.
"Ahh
Toth jumped up like a spring on the improvised wooden bed, and then realized that he had a terrible nightmare!
He was drenched in a cold sweat as he recalled the terrible scene in his dream.
It was terrible! I finally woke up in time to get rid of the nightmare!Toth staggered to his feet and walked out of the tent.
A dozen undead heroes sat around a simple dining table set up by the quartermaster. They glared at Toth hatefully, then continued to look down and nibble on the roast on their plates.
"What's wrong? Did you get beaten up last night?" said Toth, staring at Stephen curiously. His other undead heroes also had bruises and scars on their faces.
Steve huffed and picked up his plate and walked away.
"That's right," whispered an undead hero sitting next to Thoth, "the last troops to enter the city last night were attacked, and General Steve led the team to attack and fell into an ambush, causing us heavy losses!"
Toth understood, no wonder these people are dissatisfied with themselves, the feeling is that they hate themselves for coveting a comfortable sleep, and let them charge into battle! He shook his head and said, "But we have only lost a battle! Aren't we still alive and well? The greatest joy in life is to get up early every morning and still see that you are alive and can eat fragrant barbecue!"
The quartermaster seemed to have put some effort into it this morning, and everyone had eaten fresh horse meat.
Toth threw down his knife and fork, stroked his bulging belly, and burped, "Go, follow me to take down those abominable sneak attackers!"
"Looks like you don't know your opponent yet!" Steve said coldly, "Do you know the Tulaone Forest?
"This is not what a hero should say!" cried Toth, "are you not ashamed that you were defeated by an old woman and a few sticks?"
"We're going to beat you up!" we'll see how you beat the old woman and the stick!" snorted Stephen.
"You'll see!" said Toth as he looked at him with disdain, "After the others finish eating, they will immediately return to their respective units and fight with me out of the city!"
Few people moved. Even one or two heroes raised their butts slightly, and seeing that the others were indifferent, they quietly sat down again.
"Don't forget, Lao Tzu is the commander-in-chief of the Western Route Army! If anyone dares to disobey orders, Lao Tzu will kill someone!" Thoth slammed his fist on the long table, and the cups, saucers, knives and forks on the long table jumped together.
The undead heroes were startled and had no choice but to get up and follow him.
The snow was in shambles. The ground was pitted, littered with horseshoe prints and huge footprints of treebeard warriors. The bones scattered in the snow are even more shocking.
As far as the eye can see, there is no shadow of the Tulaone forest, not even a tree can be seen in the vast snowfield, and there is snow and ice everywhere.
"Send a few ghost dragons out to scout!" said Toth, "I need to know where they're hiding now!"
Out of the hole of the ground comes an undead hero riding a ghost warhorse. He hurried to Toth's side and said, "Death Judge, the enemy's whereabouts have appeared in the pass, and it is still about half a day away from us!"
"How many of them are there?"
"Thousands of cavalry, more than 40,000 infantry!"
Tuo nodded and said, "That's all the defenders stationed on the Great Wall of Ice and Snow!"
The undead heroes all looked at the Death Adjudicator without saying a word, waiting for him to make a final decision.
"Who's going to hit first?" said Toth, pacing through the snow, "Beat that old witch, Tanan may take advantage of the situation to retake the entrance to the cave, then he will stop us outside the gate......"
"And to fight Tanan?" Toth immediately shook his head, "If we can't defeat him quickly, we'll get caught between Tanan and the witch...... Fuck, how did things get so bad?"
Toth touched his body, apparently not showing what he wanted. He shrugged his shoulders and said to the crowd, "Who gave me a piece of gold?"
What do you want gold coins for? Is there a merchant selling anything in this cold and snowy place? But someone handed him a gold coin.
Toth muttered to himself, then flicked the coin upwards with his thumb. It's a pity that the force was too great, and it took a long time to fall off.
"I thought you flew away!" Thoth leaned over to pick up the gold coins on the ground and shouted, "The gods have given me guidance to go and destroy the night watchmen in the gate first!"
"Are you praying to the gods of the heavens?" Steve snorted, "I dare say that the guidance of the gods is misleading us! We believe in the gods of death in hell, not those bastards flying in the sky! With our strength we are enough to defeat the old witch, but we will definitely not be able to withstand the front and back attacks of Tanan and the witch! We must destroy the strong enemy behind us first, otherwise she will be stuck in the throat like a fishbone, and we will not be able to sleep! Your Excellency, Commander, let's go fight the old witch! Even if Tanan recaptures the tunnel to enter the pass, we can still find other ways to enter the pass!"
Thoth shook his head, "I don't care if the god who guides us is in heaven or hell! Since we have his guidance, we can't go against his will!" he began to shout, "All of you, all of you, and then seal the tunnel, and follow me to kill the night watch!"
Looking at Thoth's turnaround back, some people gathered around Steve and muttered, "Is this how this kid decides the life and death of an army?"
"What can you do? Who called him our commander?"
"I'm sure it was a mistake for the master to use him as a commander!
"Don't talk about it! Leave it to fate! Fight Tanan might be a good idea. Steve sighed: "If we play the stronger Tulaone Forest first, our strength will definitely be weakened." By that time, the weaker Tanan had become relatively stronger!"
"So be it!" the undead heroes began to return to their units, ready to get out.
Tanan encountered Eric's defeated troops on the way forward, only to learn that Eric had been shot and killed by Gu Shiyu, and was immediately surprised!
"Do you see it's him?" Tanan grabbed the messenger's arm.
"You have to let go, my arm is about to break!" the messenger struggled, "I can't be mistaken!
"This is a problem!" Tanan frowned, "How could Guzi surrender to the god of death, Bellerion, he doesn't seem to be a man without principles......"
"We see a thick black fog around him! High Priest Eric said before he died that the Chosen One had been controlled by death! If we can't bring him to his senses, we must kill him as soon as possible!"
"I know what to do!" Tanan nodded, then shouted, "Herald, order the troops to stop advancing and rest on the spot, we must call an emergency meeting to discuss countermeasures!"
General Leo hurried with his men. Tanan grabbed the reins and let General Leo jump off his horse.
"What we feared has finally come to life!" Tanan whispered.
"Did he continue to live or did he become a dead man?"
"Alive...... But he has been firmly controlled by Bellerion's powerful spiritual power!"
"It's terrible! We can't hide it anymore! The soldiers will lose confidence and fighting spirit when they know that the Chosen One has become a minion of Bellerien!"
"Yes! An army needs heroes, and that is the heart and soul of the entire army! A unit without heroes is a plate of scattered sand, and only a unit that worships heroes will have strong combat effectiveness! When the idol monument in the hearts of the soldiers collapses with a bang, it will be a fatal blow to them!"
"What do you think we should do now?"
"The rescue operation has completely failed! Tanan, the strength of our army is not as good as the army of the undead, so let's go back to Shiyan City with me! We can't go head-to-head with them, we can only rely on dangerous fortifications to bring them kill!"
"But Helena's forces are still behind the army of the undead......"
"She hasn't attacked yet, which means she hasn't revealed her whereabouts yet. She'll continue to follow them, and then fight with us under the city of Stone Weir to flank the army of the undead!"
The soldiers had learned that the Chosen One, tasked with saving the world, had surrendered to the Grim Reaper, Bellerion, and a sense of depression and negativity permeated the camp.
"You can't kill him! he's not dead!" a defeated soldier cried as he hugged his wounded brother.
"When he dies, you know we have to do it! or he'll be a corpse!"
"He can be revived by the paramedics......" the soldier wept silently.
"Do it, my brother!" said the wounded soldier, "no one can survive such a serious injury...... Give me a good time, let me end the painful torture as soon as possible! It's my honor to die at your hands!"
"Are you sure you want to?"
"Yes......"
The soldier shuddered and drew his dagger, pressing it against the back of the wounded soldier's head. He kissed his brother's pale cheek and said with tears in his eyes, "You can go with confidence...... I'll see you in hell soon!"
Both Tanan and Leo saw the sad scene. Tanan sighed, "Alright, let's go back to the city of Stone Dam and stop the army of the undead there!"
"That's good! You lead the infantry out at once, and I will lead the Knights to harass the undead army along the way, hoping to slow them down!"
