Chapter 782: On "Democracy"
"Calm down, Mr. Captain, since everything has happened, it is no different how angry you are now. I personally happen to have a little insight into the democratic system advocated by the West, I wonder if you are interested in hearing about it?" Lu Li proposed with a smile while calming the other party's emotions.
Ihasan obviously hesitated, but quickly nodded: "Of course, I can see that you are a knowledgeable person, and you Chinese are generally more intelligent, and I would like to understand why the democratic system practiced in the developed countries of the West has become a disaster for us." ”
After automatically ignoring the other party's compliment, Lu Li picked up the cup and drank the last bit of rum in it, and said in a slightly low tone: "Before the official start, I will first quote a sentence that Marx said - material determines consciousness, and the economic base determines the superstructure.
Many economists may explain it very complicated, but my understanding is that a country's system and ideology are essentially determined by the country's economic base.
To take the simplest example, take the United Kingdom and the United States as examples, do you know when they both started to implement a real one-person-one-vote electoral system?
The answer was 1969 in the United Kingdom and 1965 in the United States.
That's right, the United States of America, known as the cradle of democracy and a beacon of the world, gave blacks the right to vote exactly 15 years after the end of World War II.
This was preceded by more than 200 years of slavery (from the colonial period) and a long period of racial discrimination and apartheid.
If Western social elites think democracy is so good, why didn't they implement it hundreds of years ago?
Do you have to wait until the two world wars, and hundreds of millions of people die in the world?
As early as the ancient Greek period, many city-states used to adopt the so-called democratic system, but it turned out to be not as omnipotent as the legend says, and the final result was that the dictatorship of Sparta defeated the democratic Athens.
Especially in the later Athens, the internal affairs were a terrible mess, and thousands of people did nothing, but gathered all day long to quarrel and hold meetings, to the exclusion of any talented leader, and not even to come up with a decent decision.
In my opinion, the practice of democracy is nothing more than two reasons, the first of which is the economy.
You must understand that the essence of the one-person-one-vote electoral system is to allow more people to participate in politics and prevent the emergence of a certain person, or a certain interest group, through public opinion or other means, to completely control the situation of the entire country.
But the problem is that the implementation of such a system must be based on education for all, otherwise it will evolve into a group of greedy, short-sighted, stupid, self-righteous illiterates, who will mess up the whole country, and even lead to anti-intellectualism, which in turn needs a strong economy as a guarantee.
So I have come to the conclusion that the precondition for the implementation of democracy is that the country's economy first reaches the level of developed countries and that higher education is universal.
Otherwise, the result will be like the most typical negative textbook India, where the country is full of corruption, and politicians will do nothing but brag and make impossible promises to ignorant voters, and rely on revising data and GDP algorithms every year to cover up their corruption and incompetence.
After taking office, they secretly colluded with officials and businessmen to seek benefits, which did not benefit the country's economy at all.
In fact, most of the world's developing countries, which have implemented one-person-one-vote democracies, cannot escape this vicious circle.
Even the developed countries of Europe and the United States began to implement the so-called democratic system little by little after they completed the most primitive and bloody capital accumulation through plundering, exploiting, and oppressing colonial and domestic workers, and entered modern industrialization.
Note that they were not active, but passive, which brings me to the second point I will mention next, the rise of the socialist and workers' movements before and after the First World War.
As we all know, after the end of the Second World War, a large number of opposing camps were formed in the world, the socialist camp led by the Red Empire, the Soviet Union, and the capitalist camp led by the United States.
The two sides have launched fierce confrontation and competition in economic, political, cultural, scientific and technological aspects, especially in the first few decades of penetration of morphological consciousness, and the United States is not an opponent of the Soviet Union at all.
This can be seen from the McCarthyism that broke out within the United States, otherwise the United States, which has always flaunted freedom and democracy, would not have resorted to such a method similar to the Great Purge.
But the problem is that **** cannot fundamentally eradicate the antagonistic contradictions between the poor and the rich, between capitalists and laborers.
In desperation, in order to appease the restless working class, the capitalist camp was forced to move out of universal suffrage, that is, a one-person-one-vote democracy, so that the majority of the people thought that they could participate in politics, could influence the situation in the country, and choose a leader who was willing to fight for their own interests, thus shifting the attention from the capitalists to the politicians.
In this way, what problems arise are the responsibility of the voters themselves and the government, who can angrily demand the resignation of the president and force a change of government, but they cannot shake the capitalist system itself, let alone forcibly confiscate the property of the capitalists for redistribution, as the hostile camp did.
Through election after election, there is a legitimate outlet for popular anger, so that it will not accumulate all the time, and then suddenly explode in full force at a certain time period and become uncontrollable.
Of course, politicians are not fools, and they quickly learned to use the welfare system to dispel voter anger in order to gain more support for re-election, and then to reap the benefits through a money-for-power bargain.
Over time, the current developed countries in Europe and the United States have formed a situation in which the government debt of the developed countries in Europe and the United States is rising steadily, and some are even on the verge of bankruptcy, but on the other hand, they still have to pay a large amount of benefits to feed the increasingly lazy people in the country who are unwilling to work, until one day they become insolvent and the whole country is completely finished.
To sum up, the second reason for the emergence of Western democracy is that the capitalists have introduced an elected scapegoat government to pass on the increasingly serious class contradictions and antagonisms.
After all, these rulers are elected by the voters themselves, and it is hard to blame the capitalists who hide behind the scenes and manipulate politics.
To sum up, Western-style democracy is a special political system that was born in a special period and can only be practiced in developed countries.
It has strong limitations and is not at all applicable to any country on the planet, as advertised in the media.
In addition, in my opinion, democracy is actually a very failed political system, which has no effect on economic development in itself, and has only temporarily alleviated the internal contradictions, and has only begun to decline after just a few decades of full implementation.
I don't think there are many people in this world who think that votes are more important than bread. If there is, then be sure to starve this guy for a few days, I promise he will make a new choice soon.
Compared with the slavery system that has been in operation for three or four thousand years, the feudal system and the centralized system that have been in operation for more than two thousand years, it really lacks a stable pyramidal structure.
As the gap between rich and poor widens, and the conflict between religion, race, economics, liberalism, and conservatism grows, it is only a matter of time before it collapses, and I think that day will come very quickly and suddenly, as if the former Soviet Union had collapsed overnight.
Looking at the current United States and Western Europe, there are several countries whose governments are not heavily indebted and full of contradictions, and the economic situation is worse every year, not to mention the refugee problem that plunges the whole of Europe into turmoil, the violent conflict between the two forces of black life and white supremacy in the United States, and the evil consequences of the entertainment of political elections.
No one in the world is a real idiot, and after so many years of democracy, Americans were the first to realize who was behind the politics of the people, so they launched the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Unfortunately, the United States, despite its troubles, still holds financial hegemony and can pass on its own contradictions by printing dollars frantically, so the Occupy Wall Street movement was quickly quelled.
As for the reason why the Western world has been promoting democracy to the whole world, there are two main reasons.
First, the majority of the people are always ignorant and very easy to be manipulated by the news media and public opinion, and it is precisely the Western media that currently holds the right to speak in world public opinion, so they can wield this big stick called human rights, justifiably interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, and absorb the resources and wealth of third world countries at an extremely low cost through economic sanctions and provoking wars.
Second, democracy is undoubtedly a poison for the underdeveloped countries, and the Western world hopes that the developing countries will never become developed countries, let alone the developing countries to complete industrialization and then compete with themselves for a market share that is already quite tight.
You have to understand that the resources on Earth are finite, and the total amount of market and purchasing power will be limited until the next industrial revolution comes.
If the developing countries account for more, the share of the developed countries will decrease, and their countries and people will become poor, and becoming poor means that they cannot maintain high welfare, and once they lose high welfare, the developed countries will instantly become hell on earth, and the bankruptcy of the Greek government is already a living example.
Judging from the current international situation, developed countries rely on finance to maintain high welfare, but the problem is that the more financially developed the country, the worse the real manufacturing industry tends to be, and the final result is that fewer jobs are provided and the unemployment rate rises.
In order to appease the unemployed, the government has had to issue a large number of government bonds to improve welfare benefits, which in turn make more and more people reluctant to work or even take on the most basic responsibilities of childbearing and raising offspring.
Therefore, in the next 30 to 50 years, laziness, low fertility and a large number of immigrants who cannot be integrated will completely change the demographic structure of the developed countries of Europe and the United States, and the high proportion of whites will gradually become a minority, while Latinos, blacks, and Arabs will surpass whites in terms of numbers, thus triggering violent national shocks.
By that time, I promise you will see the end of the Western democratic world.
Remember, this is not an exaggeration, it is what it seems......"
