In a war, there are many factors that can affect the direction of the battlefield. Pen~Fun~Pavilion www.biquge.info If you have read this chapter, please move to

In a sense, the contrast between the right time, the right place, and the right people is relatively reasonable.

Especially now, the Qin army is basically complete in terms of time, place, and people.

In terms of time, after last year's bumper harvest, the national strength of the Great Qin Empire can also be said to have recovered to a considerable degree of vitality, and the strength is stronger than the comparison between Qi and Chu, and even several times stronger, the national strength of the Great Qin Empire can support Zhang Jiashi to mobilize more than 500,000 soldiers and horses to launch a large-scale war that lasts about half a year.

This point is incomparable to neither the Qi State nor the Chu State.

Especially in the State of Qi and the State of Chu, except for a small number of troops who are professional soldiers, most of their soldiers and horses are peasant troops, that is to say, the troops that Zhang Jiashi can mobilize will not affect the farming of the area under his rule to a large extent, and the State of Chu and the State of Qi are different, at this time to send troops to resist Zhang Jiashi's offensive, in fact, this year's cultivation has been wasted a lot.

This is also the reason why Zhang Jiashi occupies a part of the day.

In terms of geographical advantages, the Qi army lacked horses, and also lacked knightly troops that could more effectively use their mobility in the plains.

In such a few years of war, the war horses of the Qi State suffered very heavy losses.

And after Tian Heng and Tian Rong brothers divided the Qi land, they soon knew that the Qi country they took over was more of a mess.

Especially the southern region of Qi State, which is the main battlefield, is even more barren.

Under such a circumstance, the reconstruction of armaments, limited by the severe decline of Qi's own national strength, Qidi, which could easily raise a force of 200,000 troops, became an area that Tian Rong and the Tian Heng brothers could not help with.

This point has become a crushing situation for the Great Qin Empire to align its armies in armaments.

It is true that after dividing the Qi land, Tian Heng and Tian Rong brothers quickly bowed down to Xiang Yu, gave up Tian Heng and Tian Rong brothers who continued to fight against the Chu State, and were able to re-organize a Qin army in a short period of time that Xiang Yu had to fear.

But more, whether it is Zhang Jiashi or Chen Ping, they are very clear that the military strength of the two Qi states, that is, between the Eastern Qi and the Western Qi, is in a sense nothing more than a rough and overflowing army.

As long as you are careful, whether it is Western Qi or Eastern Qi, it is more unlikely that the troops under Zhang Jiashi's command want to be defeated by the other party in the plain area of Qi with the same strength.

Finally, there are people and factors.

What is harmony?

The more cohesive interpretation of this situation refers to the strength of a country's support among its people.

In many cases, this situation is indeed likely to affect the course of the war.

However, even if they fought on the Qi mainland, the Qi people did not have much opposition to the Qin State.

......

In the Qingyu Spirit Book, there are the corresponding deeds of this Qi country:

In 208 BC, at the end of Qin, the world was against Qin, and the descendants of the Warring States princes fought for the restoration of the country, and in the hometown of Qi, the original Qi nobles Tian Dan and Tian Rong and Tian Heng raised troops to restore the country, and Tian Dan established himself as the king of Qi. After Tian Dan's death, the Qi people set up Tian Jiao, the younger brother of Qi Wang Jian, as the king of Qi.

Almost at the same time, Tian Dan's younger brother Tian Rong packed up the remnants of the army and fought back to Qi State, drove away Tian Jiao, and set up Tian Shi, the son of his elder brother Tian Dan, as the king of Qi.

After Tian Rong regained Qidi, he wrote to Chu and Zhao, asking Chu and Zhao to kill Tian Jiao, Tian Jian, and Tian Jiao, but Chu and Zhao refused Tian Rong's request. When it came to Dingtao Qin to surround Xiang Liang, break the Chu soldiers to kill Xiang Liang, and then besiege Julu, Tian Rong refused to send troops to help.

When Xiang Yu rescued Zhao, Qi led Tian Du to lead his army from him and entered the customs with him. Therefore, Tian An, the grandson of Qi Wang Jian, also went down to several cities in the north of Jibei and descended to Xiang Yu. After the Qin Dynasty was destroyed, Xiang Yu was the prince of Dafeng, Litian was the king of Qi, and the capital was Linzi, and Litian was the king of Jibei and ruled Boyang (now southeast of Tai'an City, Shandong). Wangtian City of Qi is the king of Jiaodong, and all of them are Jimo (now southeast of Pingdu City, Shandong). And Tian Rong did not save Xiang Liang or Zhao before, so he was not sealed.

Tian Rong was very angry about this. and the princes and kings returned to the play, and each went to his kingdom. Tian Rong sent troops away from Tiandu, and Tiandu died and returned to Xiang Yu. Tian Rong stayed in Qi Wang Tian City, and was not allowed to seal the king of Jiaodong. Tian Shi was afraid of Xiang Yu, listened to the left and right, and fled to Jiaodong to take office. Tian Rong was angry and sent someone to Jimo to kill Tian City. Then he sent troops to attack and kill Tian An, the king of Jibei, and then merged the land of Sanqi and established himself as the king of Qi.

Xiang Yu was furious and led his army to the north. Tian Rong was unfavorable to the battle, defeated and walked away from the plain, and the plains people killed Tian Rong. Xiang Yu burned the city and slaughtered everything. The people of Qi then reunited to resist Xiang Yu, so that Xiang Yu fell into Qi and could not extricate himself. And Tian Rong's younger brother Tian Heng gathered scattered soldiers, got tens of thousands of people, and attacked the Chu army in Chengyang. and the king of Han entered Pengcheng, and Xiang Yu returned to the division. Tian Heng then settled on the Qi land, and Tian Guang, the son of Tian Rong, was the king of Qi and was Qi Xiang.

Tian Heng set Qi for three years, and the Han envoy Li Shiqi said that the king of Qi and the Han allied to attack Xiang Yu. Qi Wang Tian Guang and Xiang Tian Heng Xu Zhi, so they were unprepared. Han Xin, the Han general, was greedy for merit and took advantage of the unpreparedness of the Qi army to raid the Qi State. Qi Wang Tian Guang was defeated and went to Gaomi, while Tian Heng was defeated and went to Boyang, and Tian Guang was defeated to Chengyang, and Tian Stable was sent to Jimo.

When the overlord heard that Han Xin was attacking Qi, he was shocked and sent a dragon to save Qi. Han Xin and Cao Shen broke the Qi and Chu coalition forces in the Battle of Weishui, killed the Chu general Long And, and Tian Guang, the king of Qi, was also captured. Qi Xiangtian heard that Tian Guang, the king of Qi, had died, so he established himself as the king of Qi.

Tian Heng, the king of Qi, fought back against the Han army, and the Han general Guan Ying broke the Qi army in Yingxia (now south of Mount Tai), and Tian Heng was defeated. When Peng Yue was neutral according to Liang, either Han or Chu, Tian Heng defected to Peng Yue. At the same time, Cao Shen pursued the Qi army to Jimo and killed the Qi general Tian Stable. Peng Yue was made king of Liang, and Tian Heng led his troops to flee to the sea.

At the beginning of 203 BC, Liu Bang, the king of Han, established Han Xin as the king of Qi. In 202 BC, Han Gaozu Zhaotian crossed into Luoyang, and Tian Heng went to the outskirts of Luoyang and committed suicide. The Qi Kingdom of the Tian clan was completely destroyed.

The above is the corresponding description of this late Qin Qi State in the Qingyu Spirit Book.

Here, the support of the Qi people for the Qi country can be said to be relatively supportive.

But in many ways, Zhang Jiashi found that the resistance of the Qi people in this period to the Great Qin Empire was not very strong, which also made Zhang Jiashi very puzzled. Because he had never thought of why the Qi people would be relatively supportive of the Qin State.

But with the arrival of Hou Xu, Hou Xu said several factors to clear Zhang Jiashi's doubts:

The first is that the Qi people were indeed very supportive of the three Tian Dan brothers at the beginning, because the Qi State was destroyed by the Qin State for the shortest time, and the Qi people felt that the Tian Qi State had the strongest ruling ability.

Moreover, Tian Dan and others did have a better governance of the Qi country at the beginning, and abolished what they considered to be harsh taxes and tyrannical laws.

However, after the defeat in the Battle of Julu, the Tian Dan brothers' rule over the Qi State has changed to a great extent, which also makes many Qi people begin to wonder whether their support for the Tian Dan brothers to govern them was wrong.

Because the current official position of Tian Qi, although it is not a tyrannical expropriation, it can be regarded as making them more and more dissatisfied.

And before Tian Jiao and Tian Du defected from the Qi State, there was another civil strife that was not too turbulent.

That is Tian An, the grandson of Qi Wangjian, who was proclaimed King of Qi by some bureaucrats loyal to Qi Wangjian. But this Qi King Tian An had no way to directly display his ambitions, so Tian Dan, who reacted, ordered Tian Heng to lead the army to exterminate him.

For this, most of the Qi people are not too clear about this situation, and for them, this kind of thing happened in the Qi country, and it has nothing to do with them.

However, some civilians, military and civilians of Qi who claimed to be loyal ministers of Qi were quite dissatisfied with Tian An's treatment as such.

This also began to affect Qi people's support for Tian Heng and Tian Dan and others in a certain sense.

Because of the propaganda of these people, some Qi people reduced their support for Tian Dan's Qi State.

This is also the reason why after Tian Dan's death, Tian Rong and Tian Heng brothers wanted to kill Tian Du and Tian Jiao, the two Qi kings who were divided by Xiang Yu, and paid a great price.

When the Chu army was at war with the Qi state, this part of the Qi people who were dissatisfied with the Tian Dan brothers supported the Chu army relatively stronger.

But because of some unknown circumstances, after Xiang Yu launched an offensive against the Qi country, he actually raised a butcher's knife against the Qi people who were willing to submit.

This has also become the reason why Qi people's resistance to Xiang Yu is becoming stronger and stronger.

And in such a case, it also shows that Xiang Yu's massacre was not planned at all, but simply killed if he wanted to.

In the historical records, Xiang Yu's six mass killings are clearly recorded:

For the first time, Xiangcheng slaughtered the city and killed the civilians of the whole city.

The second Chengyang Massacre killed all the civilians in the city who assisted the Qin army's resistance.

The third Xin'an Massacre, killing 200,000 Qin soldiers.

The Fourth Xianyang Massacre, killing civilians in Guanzhong without a plan, burning, killing, looting, and digging graves.

The fifth Qi massacre, the number of pit kills Tian Rong and the number of soldiers is unknown, and the looting and burning are killed, forcing the Qi country after repeated reopening.

The Sixth Waihuang Massacre, for some reason, failed to become a large-scale reality.

But in any case, from Xiang Yu's massacre, there is no clear and definite goal for the target.

Even Chu Huai Wang Xiong Xin was very jealous and outrageous about this:

Xiong Xin was worried about the ministers and generals in history and gritted his teeth and said: "Xiang Yu is a man, a fierce thief! Xiang Yu tried to attack Xiangcheng, and Xiangcheng was left with no remnants, all of them were pitted! Everywhere he passed, all were destroyed!"

"Everywhere he passed, he was destroyed" means that all the places that Xiang Yu passed through were brutally destroyed without exception! Think about it, what a heinous sight this is? Therefore, this is one of the reasons why King Chu Huai stubbornly disapproved of Xiang Yu's march into Xianyang. However, the agreement of "the king of the first to enter the Kanto region" has become the fundamental premise that Xiong Xin cannot avoid this problem at all.

And this sentence also proves one point to a large extent, that is, how many small massacres Xiang Yu had, I am afraid that even Sima Qian can't calculate.

Especially before the Battle of Xiangcheng, Xiang Yu's massacre of the captured cities should be countless.

Therefore, knowing that Xiang Yu did not change, the Qi people finally lost their patience with Xiang Yu, and then opposed Xiang Yu and supported Tian Rong and Tian Heng brothers here.

This is also the reason why Tian Rong and Tian Heng brothers were able to make a comeback, stalemate with Xiang Yu, and then led the army to kill Tian Du and Tian Jiao, two Xiang Yu, to be crowned princes.

But because of what happened next, the Qi people gradually lost their patience with Tian Rong and the Tian Heng brothers, and looked forward to the arrival of the Qin army, which was relatively generous to the common people.

......

After hearing that Hou Xu said these factors, Zhang Jiashi was silent for a long time, and then said a sentence that has appeared even now, but it is not very famous: "Water can carry a boat, and it can also capsize a boat." ”

(At this time, this sentence has already appeared in the original text, which can be found in two anthologies:

The first anthology is "Xunzi. Mourning Gong", the content is Xunzi narrating a dialogue between Confucius and Lu Aigong. Lu Aigong asked Confucius: "The widow is born in the deep palace, long in the hands of a woman, the widow has not tasted sorrow, has not tasted sorrow, has not tasted labor, has not tasted fear, has not tasted danger." Confucius said: "What the king asks, the question of the holy king, the Qiu and the villain, how can we know it?" Confucius said: "Jun into the temple door and right, climb from the stairs, look up at the building, look down on a few feasts, its utensils, its people die, the king to mourn, then the mourning will be to the end? Jun out of the four gates of Lu, to look at the suburbs of Lu, the void of the country will have a number of covers, the king is afraid of this, then the fear will not come? The water will carry the boat, and the water will overturn the boat.

The second anthology is also "Xunzi", but the source is "Xunzi Wangzhi Chapter", the content is: "Shuren is in power, and then the gentleman is in power." It is said: 'The monarch is also the boat, the man is the water, the water is the boat, the water is the boat, and the water is the overturned boat'. ”)

After hearing this, Hou Xu's expression couldn't help but be a little gloomy, because he knew one thing, if there was no queen and Hou Sheng, with the qualifications of Qi Wangjian, it would be very difficult for the Qi State to continue to exist until 221 BC.

And the current Hou Sheng, in the hearts of Qi people, is just a confused king, a monopoly of power, and a greedy and immoral person.

Zhang Jiashi saw Hou Xu's gloomy expression, and he was also very helpless in his heart, because if he wanted to change the nature of Hou Sheng, it would also affect some of the stability of his rule to a certain extent, so in many cases, even if Zhang Jia Shi was willing to whitewash Hou Sheng, I am afraid it was just a fantasy of a rat trap.

But in order to appease his beloved general, Zhang Jiashi then said a sentence to Hou Xu: "The gentleman wants to return to his hometown, this is the right way, if Hou Xu is interested, Gu can let you lead the vanguard army into Linzi." I don't know what Hou Xu thinks?"

Hearing Zhang Jiashi's words, Hou Xu knelt on the ground gratefully, hugged his fists to Zhang Jiashi and said: "Your Majesty has thanked the king for his kindness, but Linzi is a strong city, and Hou Xu is not sure that he can take Linzi lightly and capture the rebellious head Tian Rong." If the army suffers a lot of losses because of this incident, it will be difficult for Hou Xu to escape the blame. ”

After hearing Hou Xu's words, Zhang Jiashi couldn't help but nod slightly.

He secretly thought about one thing in his heart, that is: "If Tian Dan was able to reuse this person at the beginning, I am afraid that Gu Jiang would have to face even greater difficulties before he was able to defeat Tian Shobu and determine the ruling power of Sanchuan County." ”

Zhang Jiashi didn't think that Hou Xu could not take on a more suitable position, but Hou Xu was now a lieutenant, and if he was easily promoted, I am afraid that Zhang Jiashi would have to take into account the thoughts of his own personnel.

This is also where Zhang Jiashi is helpless.

Of course, there are some things that Zhang Jiashi doesn't think that even if he does it, it will have any bad impact, but for him, there are many things that he still needs to think about to determine whether to do it or not will be better.

...................................................... Dividing Line................................................

While the army under Zhang Jiashi achieved relatively significant results or pinned down the main forces of Eastern Qi and Western Qi, Tian Rong and Tian Heng respectively asked Xiang Yu for reinforcements, and finally waited for Xiang Yu's reply.

After Fan Zeng's death, the strategists under Xiang Yu were all in danger. This is also the reason why Xiang Yu reacted after Zhang Jiashi successfully encroached on several important areas of Qidi.

Because Xiang Yu, who was a little indecisive, made this choice by himself, it was still too reluctant to force the other party.

For Xiang Yu, Zhang Jiashi is his strongest enemy, but he doesn't think that Zhang Jiashi's current achievements are Zhang Jiashi's ability, on the contrary, Xiang Yu looks down on Zhang Jiashi, because in his heart, he thinks that whether it is Ying Zheng or Zhang Jiashi himself, he is just a lucky person.

But he couldn't deny one thing in his heart, that is, Zhang Jiashi's current achievements were really the luck of the other party?

Even Xiang Yu can't really be sure of this.

However, Xiang Yu's reply was undoubtedly a bolt from the blue for the envoys of the two countries.

Because Xiang Yu refused to support the Tian Rong brothers, he hoped that the Tian Rong brothers could lead the troops to defect to him.

After knowing Xiang Yu's idea, the envoys of the two countries could be said to be sad, because for them, if their mission could not be completed, they would not be able to explain to Tian Rong and Tian Heng brothers.

As for what will happen to them when they return to their own country, they can think of it themselves.

After taking a deep breath, the envoy of Western Qi, who was Tian Rong's confidant, bent over Xiang Yu with his fists in his fists: "The foreign minister hopes that the overlord can know the truth of the cold lips and teeth, if the Qi State is destroyed by Qin Dog, then the Chu State will have to face the onslaught of Qin Dog alone." ”

After saying these words, the envoy left in front of Xiang Yu without looking back, and the envoy of Dongqi also left with his fists clenched.

And Xiang Yu looked at the background of the two of them with disdain, thinking that no one in the Chu State in the main hall could know.
