Chapter 6: Night Fighting

There was a thud in the dark bushes, and a small, pointy-eared head poked out. It glanced at the gate of the village in the distance, and was surprised to see that there were no guards.

"Boom!" a loud noise rang out from the bushes, and dozens of goblins jumped out, scribbling their way towards the village, armed with weapons and ropes.

The walls are more than two meters high and the goblins can use ropes to climb up. However, since the gate is unguarded, wouldn't it be better to open the gate and rush in? after all, it is not easy for a small goblin to climb a wall.

The sneaky goblins cautiously gathered in front of the gate, wanting to see how to pry open the wooden door.

"Wow~Ka~"

A goblin accidentally touched the door, and the two thick planks were pushed open.

"Boom, boom!" the goblins burst into joy as they beckoned to the brigade behind them.

Hundreds of goblins leaped out of the bushes in the distance and swooped down on the unsuspecting village gates.

......

"They're coming, are you sure you want to do it?" said Galadia, turning to look at Griffith and gesturing ahead.

"You can win by following the tactical actions that were laid out before," Griffith said briefly, and then expressed his determination with his actions, striding out of hiding with his spear in hand.

The goblins made their way through the main entrance and found themselves flanked on the left and right by low walls of wood and dirt two meters high, filling the gaps between the houses and leaving only the way forward. The little monsters walked briskly along the passage in the middle of the low wall, and didn't go far when they came across a corner.

The group of attackers groped their way forward lightly, ready to strike a surprise attack on the unprepared humans.

"Huh!" the goblin in the lead snorted as soon as he turned the corner, startling his companion. An iron spear pierced the goblin's eye socket and plunged deep into its head.

Griffith gripped his iron spear and stabbed it back, stabbing at the goblin next to him like lightning.

The goblin who was suddenly attacked immediately blew up and screamed and pounced on the apprentice knight. Griffith felt like he had been hit by a hailstone, seven or eight blows and pain coming from all over his body.

Galadia was shocked when she watched it from the sidelines. I saw a large mass of small monsters swarming up, and in the blink of an eye, the tall apprentice knight was hung like a bunch of grapes.

The goblins slammed Griffith with daggers, machetes, and hammers, breaking through his leather armor and getting stuck in the chain mail. Griffith threw his spear, drew his dagger and stabbed two of them, then drew his sword and slammed it upwards at the level of his body. The two slamming goblins were sliced off like potato skins.

The vision in front of him suddenly cleared, and Griffith could already see the goblin bandits coming towards him one after another in the darkness. For the time being, he didn't worry about his double armor being penetrated, and he unhurriedly swung his sword to slash while deftly retreating backwards.

The goblins who came one after another screamed and pounced, only to find that the fully armored humans had retreated into two rows of sharp wooden fences, and unhurriedly cut down the goblins that had rushed to the ground one by one.

Under the cover of the wooden fence, Griffith did not worry about his flanks being attacked for the time being. Although the wooden fence was not high and not impassable, the goblins swooped down on him in a hasty encounter.

"Give me a shield!" Griffith reached out to the left rear, and immediately a round wooden shield with an iron ring around the edge was handed over. The apprentice knight took the shield and protected it in front of him, lowered his body and continued to stab his long sword forward. Seven or eight young villagers also took out their wooden spears and stabbed the little monster from behind the wooden fence.

The sword and the wooden spear were like the Grim Reaper, knocking the swarming goblins to the ground in the blink of an eye.

Although the goblins are far more numerous than humans, they are unable to break through the breach of a heavily armored foot cavalry guard, no matter how hard they try. The fiercest and most insane goblins crashed headlong into this line of defense, and then were immediately killed by the blade, and the goblins who followed closely after saw their kind being killed in the blink of an eye, and did not want to climb over the sharp fence, they fell into terror and gathered in front of Griffith and cowered.

"Knight, there's a big crowd coming up from behind!" shouted the villagers watching from the rooftop, "a big crowd is passing through the gate!"

Hearing this, Griffith shielded himself with his shield and waved his sword to the back.

"Anointing. ”

A nimble boy nervously wiped the blood from his sword with a cloth, while another villager wiped it twice with an oil-soaked cloth and wrapped it around the blade.

"Ignition. ”

A torch was handed over, and the sword was immediately enveloped in flames. Griffith felt the heat in his hand, and swung his shield and sword and pounced.

The tall man covered in armor suddenly lunged forward, his flaming sword in his hand, and the light of the fire illuminated his hideous armor like a fire demon crawling out of hell.

The goblins were startled by the scene in front of them, and they couldn't help but take a few steps back, and then collided with the group that was coming from behind. The flaming goblin team also had swords and short spears in their hands, and they couldn't get caught up with their kind in front of them, and they also injured several of them.

Griffith strode forward, slashing a head with a single sword, and then swept across with a round shield. The smashed goblins let out a scream and fell backwards together.

"Attack!" Griffith turned his head and shouted, "Follow me!"

A dozen villagers behind the wooden fence saw that the apprentice knight was unstoppable, and they also pounced with spears.

"Inflict a large number of casualties on the enemy in a short period of time and crush their morale. Galadia reflected on Griffith's previous deployment, "The effect is indeed obvious. Okay, then it's up to me next. ”

The elven archer jumped nimbly on the rooftop, facing the straight that led to the gate, and bent his bow to aim at a target.

The goblin brigade, which was on their way, was hit hard around the corner and retreated towards the way back. Several goblin leaders were stuck in the back, shouting and pushing their men forward.

Suddenly, a cold light flashed, and a strong goblin leader was shot through the brain. Before the other goblins could react, another yelling leader was swept off of his skull, and the red-black liquid smeared the faces of his fellow goat around him.

The little bosses, who had been shouting just now, were dumbfounded, staring in horror at the darkness ahead.

"Whoosh!" another sharp arrow came at him, piercing the throats of the two goblins, pinning them to the ground together.

A flash of fire suddenly poured out of the darkness. A tall fierce god wielded a flaming sword, and pounced like a demon from a legend. Behind him, around him, a horde of ignited goblins, their faces covered in blood, screaming and dying.

The entire goblin brigade was suddenly left with only shouts of terror, and the front that had been repulsed by Griffith retreated like a tidal wave. The small leaders who were still urging the attack just now turned around and ran away with their subordinates, and immediately formed a wave of trampling on each other.

"Prioritize attacking the warriors of the enemy army and prevent them from regaining their organization," Galadia muttered Griffith's second request, "That's how the war in the East was fought. ”

As the goblins crowded towards the main entrance of the village, several villagers walked along the fence to the wooden gate and closed the gate from there, then dropped several large thick planks to block the way out of the doorway.

Even the goblins' simple brains immediately understood what was going on, and instead of reflexively attacking Griffith and the villagers who were chasing them, they scrambled to start smashing the planks blocking the exit.

Occasionally, a few stronger goblins tried to fight back, but they were instantly killed by Griffith's blade and Galadia's bow. The rest of the goblins were all frightened, frantically carved a hole in the plank with their weapons, and swarmed towards the escape route.

......

"What's going on?" said a goblin who adorned himself with feathers and skeletons in the bushes hundreds of meters away, looking at the main entrance, which was drowned out by screams.

"Shaman, the door is blocked. A clever goblin said, pointing to the boarded main entrance.

"I see it," the shaman shouted, "I mean what's going on inside." ”

As soon as he finished speaking, a skinny goblin emerged from the crack in the main entrance and rushed towards the shaman's hiding place with his bare hands.

Before the shaman could decide whether or not to go to his aid, a feathered arrow sliced through the darkness and struck the back of the goblin fugitive's neck. The fleeing creature threw himself to the ground with a thud and convulsed.

Another goblin made a breach, and was pinned to the ground just a few steps after running.

The main entrance erupted into even more terrible shouts, and a third goblin emerged from the darkness. But before he could get out of the gap, a powerful force grabbed its calf and dragged it back into the darkness.

"Boom!!" the goblin screamed, waving his hands desperately at the shaman in the distance, before disappearing into the dark hole.

With a scream, the main entrance to the village fell silent, leaving only the large hole in the plank to stare in the direction of the goblin shaman.

......

What to do...... Retreat...... The goblin shaman was sweating with nervousness. Half of the men sent out disappeared into this small village, as if they had been fed to a terrifying beast without even burping.

However, if you retreat, you will not be able to complete your mission......

"Will they still come?" said Galadia leaning over the low wall, staring into the darkness of the distance.

"Possibly," Griffith said, stepping on the corpses on the ground with one foot deep and one foot shallow, looking up at the elves above him, "why do you think so many goblins would attack the village?"

"Why? Isn't it for the sake of livestock, food, and people?" asked Galadia with a tilted head, "What else can these low-level monsters do?"

If that's the case...... Griffith extinguished the flames on the blade and said to the villagers behind him, "Take their weapons, and cut off their heads." ”

The villagers, who had not yet recovered from the excitement and horror of the battle, heard this, and although they did not know what the apprentice knight was going to do, they took an axe as he had said, and began to cut off the head by the light of the torch. The dimly lit entrance to the village immediately resounded with a clangling and slashing sound.
