Chapter 9: Another Master of the Kulo Cards
"You know," Professor McGonagall explained, "the other professors have a lot of work to do. β
Ollivander didn't dwell on this, at least looking at Tom: "Are you used to using your right hand or your left hand?"
"Right hand. Tom said.
Ollivander turned and slipped into the stack of wand boxes, muttering something in his mouth.
On the old wooden table, a tape measure jumped to Tom's right hand and dutifully measured Tom's body.
Tom, who had already experienced the magic of the tape measure in Mrs. Morkin's shop, stretched out his arm without changing his face and let it measure.
Professor McGonagall stood with his arms crossed, and Marcus and Cynthia appropriately exuded the "Muggle" couple's expressions of awe and yearning for the wand.
Rubelos was squeezed into a corner near the door, continuing to act as a pet.
Ollivander quickly pulled out a box of wands from a pile of wand boxes: "Try this, twelve-inch, poplar wood, dragon heartstrings, a very powerful wand." β
Tom's two fingers touched the wand before Ollivander snatched it.
"No, no," he said, pulling another wand from another shelf, "Eleven inches, willow, unicorn hair." β
Tom took it.
This time, the wand sat in Tom's hand a little longer.
But it was only a few seconds before the wand was taken away by Ollivander once again.
"Ten inches, mahogany, unicorn hair. β
Tom waved his wand and brought out a "crackling" spark.
"Ten and three-quarters of an inch, elm, unicorn furβobviously the wand with the unicorn fur core is perfect for you. β
Tom waved it, and a blinding white light erupted in the tiny wand shop.
"It's close, it's close. Ollivander said.
He was hunched over, his fingers as thin as dead twigs pointing at the wand box on the shelf.
"Eleven and a quarter inches, English oak, unicorn hair. β
This time, the wand erupted with multicolored light.
Rubelos let out a loud sneeze.
Professor McGonagall's expression barely changed.
Marcus and Cynthia were a little impatient from the excitement at first.
"I see," Ollivander clapped his hands, swapping a wand for Tom's hand, "it must be this one." Eleven and a half inches, silver basswood, unicorn hair. β
As soon as Tom took it, he felt a gentle force run his wand down his fingertips.
The power rippled from his fingertips, filling his entire body in an instant.
It was a completely different feeling from him holding the Kulo wand.
He waved his wand, and a translucent tree appeared in the air, and several small birds flew out of the top of the wand and hovered over the top of the tree.
A gentle wind blew in the wand shop, and ethereal singing could be faintly heard.
"It's a unique sight. Ollivander lamented, "I'm glad this wand has its own owner." β
Tom played with the new wand excitedly, and he felt like he couldn't put it down.
But Rubelos snorted and chirped after Tom, clearly displeased with him.
Professor McGonagall handed Tom the ticket and told him to get to King's Cross Station to take the train to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Afterwards, Professor McGonagall said goodbye to Tom's family and left in a good mood.
"Why do you prefer this wooden wand when it's so pretty, Kulo's wand is better?" said Rubellos, who felt a little sour in his heart, as he watched Tom play with his new wand over and over again.
"Don't you think it's amazing?" said Tom, still reluctant to put down his wand, "Ollivander said, each wand unique. It sounds like it's tailor-made for one person. β
"The Kulo wand is unique, too!" said Koruberos in a low voice.
"Indeed. Tom nodded approvingly, "So I have two unique wands." β
"Honestly," Tom continued, "what if I could apply the magic I learned to my life? β
"Maybe we can give it a try. Rubelos was also interested, "If it's a Kuro card, it will be easy." For example, the 'light' sign can shine according to your ideas......"
Tom's eyes lit up: "I've always wanted to invent an electric light when I've been a kid, the kind that lights up when I clap my hands." This sounds really amazing, can I try it?"
"Ahem......" Hubelos had to remind, "we need to find the 'Light' card first and seal it." β
"Oh! Tom was a little disappointed, but he quickly picked up his spirits, "Maybe I can find similar magic in my textbooks." β
As he spoke, he pulled out his textbooks one by one, and searched for them with Korubelos.
"Tom!Rubelos! It's dinner time!," Cynthia reminded at the door.
The family had a happy dinner.
"It's strange," Cynthia said during dessert after dinner, "and the basement door suddenly won't open." β
"That's true. "I tried to get the tools there before dinner, but I couldn't open the door, and I couldn't use the key." β
"Oops!" suddenly exclaimed Koruberos, "so much has happened today, I forgot the Cullo card in the basement!"
"What kind of Kurot card would that be?" asked Cynthia with interest.
"'Ingots', the Kuro cards that lock a room. Brubelos replied.
"What's the difference between this and the lock we use?" Marcus asked, "it has to be opened by magic?"
"Yes. "And only the owner of the Kurot card can open it." β
"The owner of the Kuro card," Tom interjected, "am I the only one?"
"For now, that's right. Hubelos said.
"That is, there may also be another owner of the Kulo card?"
Clearly, Marcus understood what Koruberos was saying.
"Tom is the heir chosen by Kuro Reed himself, and it stands to reason that he is the only one who owns the Kuro cards. Brubelos replied.
"But?"
"But the moon as the inquisitor is nowhere to be seen - he also has the right to choose the next master for himself. Hubelos said.
"Inquisitor," Tom wondered, "who is he?"
"When Kuro Reed created the Kuro card, he also created us, the Seal Beast Korubelos, which is me," Korubelos explained, "and Inquisitor Moon. β
"I'm in charge of sealing the Kuro cards until I find the successor of the Kuro, and Tsuki is in charge of judging whether the current owner of the Kuro card is the right owner. β
"But he's only in charge of the trial, isn't he?" asked Tom.
"Theoretically," said Copperlos distressedly, "but he also has the right to choose a new master." β
"Although there is only one key, if Moon wants, even if he doesn't have a key, he can have another candidate for the owner of the Kuro card. β
"So our Tom is just a candidate at the moment, right?" Cynthia noted.
Hubelos nodded.
