Chapter 052: The Name of Shame
The snow had stopped, and dusk was still an hour away, and the palace was already brightly lit, and the torches on the walls were lit and swayed from side to side in the slow breeze. The wind blew through the entrance of the dungeon and down the stone steps, the flames in the furnace swirling and jumping, and the wood crackled.
Horn turned away from the wall, but the shadow walked in front of him, like a long, thin sword, falling on the old rotten wood tables and chairs, and disappearing into a deep pool filled with stinking water. He stood at the table for a long time, waiting, waiting. He finally went downstairs, his boots on the stone stairs, and before anyone arrived, the sound came first.
"It seems to be coming. Linde whispered.
Horn waved his hand. In the next second, the soft whip tore through the air and let out a piercing scream, whipping into a pair of rotten hands that were grasping the iron beams. The screams were still echoing in the water prison, and the drowning man fluttered into the chorus, and the water splashed everywhere, and the owner of the hands rose up from the water, grabbed the iron beam that hung his body, and gasped for breath, while spitting out the stinky water that had just been inhaled into his lungs.
"Lord Allen," Camille's voice came from the swirling stone steps, half of the shadow had fallen on the wall, and gradually grew louder with the footsteps, "The people who captured me were tortured in this hellish place without my consent, even if Lord Kenny hasn't woken up yet, and you are now the leader of the Alliance Army, isn't it too appropriate to do this?"
Horn looked at the blurring shadow and waved his hand again. The whip fell on the man in the water again, this time with a heart-rending scream. It wasn't until Camille walked down the stone steps and walked quickly to the executor with half of his face scarred and snatched the soft whip that Horn spoke, "Lord of the Icefield, what do you want to do?"
"What for?" Camille handed the whip to the guards behind him, "Lord Allen, what kind of catastrophe did my people do, and you want to bring him here for secret torture?"
"Secret torture? No, I didn't engage in secret torture. Horn took two steps closer, leaning on the table with one hand, and looked down at the Icefield Lord with the advantage of his height, "Besides, you should be familiar with this place, right?"
Even though Camille had tried his best to hide the fear in his heart, the corners of his eyes twitched twice. "What stupid thing did you do to anger Lord Allen?" he looked up at Horn, "You'd better summon it honestly, lest you suffer any more flesh and skin!"
"Traitor, brute...... Ungrateful thing, traitor Camille!" cried a young man named Wade in the nearby inkhole. As soon as he finished speaking, the executor, full of rotten brown teeth and a pair of small dark eyes, kicked him in the head. The steel boots hit the left side of his face and ear, kicking him hard into the stinking water. This time, it took Wade more time than he had just before to regain his grip on the iron beam, and to surface, gasping for breath and looking at Camille with disdain, his eyes full of anger.
"Lord Allen, what the hell is heโ"
"This kid ran to report to Aiden, saying that you have bad intentions, are trying to rebel, and want to take advantage of the Alliance's westward advance to control Karta and annex all the results of the southern expedition. Horn gently put his hand on Camille's shoulders and interrupted, "He also said that after the Battle of Karta, Kenny and the Assassins they encountered were all sent by you. What's more, this kid has also involved me, because so far, it is only you and me, and there have been no assassin attacks. He turned his head to look at the boy in the water, "It's good that Kenny didn't wake up, guess if he woke up, the person who is in the water now will be you, huh?"
Camille shuddered. Of course he knew how smelly and cold the water was, how dark and terrible the dungeon was, and for eighteen years it had been like a nightmare, often overwhelming him in the dead of night. "No, it can't be, Wadta......" he pushed the hand off his shoulder and turned to walk towards the stinky pool, "Stinky boy, say!Why are you slandering me?!Who the hell instructed you?!"
Wade opened his mouth slightly, looking up at his lord.
"Say!!" Camille said angrily.
Wade threw his head back and laughed maniacally, letting go of a hand that was hanging from the iron beam and slapping the water, the stinking water immediately soaking Camille's robes, but the latter did not flinch. "I'm a close confidant that Lord Lawrence planted next to you, and you already had close contact with Ryan back in the Southern Expedition Council, constantly delivering information to him, andโ"
"Shut up!!" Camille roared and rushed forward, kicking Wade into the water and nearly slipping himself. If it weren't for the fat jailer, maybe he would have killed this guy who was full of nonsense.
"Don't get so excited, isn't Kenny awake yet?" Horn smiled as he leaned back against the rotten wood table, clasped his hands around his hands.
"He slandered me!" Camille cried out hysterically, "Allen, this beast slanders me! I can swear to the god Namu, I swear, I have never crossed paths with Ryan, the last time I saw him was eighteen years ago, I hate him! He made me break my oath and betray my lord, I hate him! I hate him!!"
"I know," Horn shrugged, "for your brother's sake, I know, but if Kenny had heard that, do you think he would have believed Lawrence, or would he have believed you?"
"Lawrence?" Camille froze in amazement, trembling uncontrollably, not knowing whether it was because of anger or because of the coldness of the water prison.
"Does this sound familiar, Camille the Oathbreaker?" Horn let go of his clasped hands and jumped to sit on the edge of the table, "Actually, the Alliance Army had been rumoring this long before the Southern Expedition, until Aiden told me all about it. To tell you the truth, I'm a little suspicious of you, ha!"
"You...... Don't you believe me?" Camille raised his voice, and his words echoed throughout the dungeon, echoing among the mossy and slender stone pillars, and almost everyone could hear them. "Allen, I really didn't collaborate with the enemy, let alone send someone to assassinate the lord! He slandered me, someone wanted me to die, not to let the assassin assassin, but to sow discord!"
"I know, I know," Horn smiled, "if I didn't believe you, I would be the one who is scared right now." Kane and Mike have already led the army and taken all the troops with them, Duke Duck is sick in bed, and now Karta is only the army of your Icefield family left, if you really want to rebel, it will be me and Kenny who will lose, right?"
Camille looked at Horn in silence. "Yes, my army has taken over Karta, yes......" he nodded, looking at his shadow.
"Do you hate Kenny?" Horn said suddenly, "Although he spared your life, but he locked you up in this dark water prison and tortured you, after that, the name of the oath breaker is destined to be with you for the rest of your life, don't you hate him at all?"
Camille was silent for a moment, then nodded.
