The early setting of Sigard and Diablo
Veteran players of the official Battle.net should remember that during the upgrade from 1.09 to 1.10, a famous bug belt "Sigard's Hide" was generated, and its attributes were roughly equivalent to the later "Vampire Saint King's Circle". Pen × fun × Pavilion www. biquge。 infoBut it is rumored that someone has obtained a super bug belt with attributes = "Ears of the Long String" + "Vampire Saint King", and it is unknown whether it is true or not.
This "Sigard" is from an early official novel "Devil's Calamity", and some netizens have translated its entire book into Chinese, if you are interested, you can search it and take a look, but anyway, I will post the synopsis later.
The reason why I want to introduce Sigard is because his saga represents the early setting of Northern Blizzard, which can be said to be very different from the Diablo Three script designed by the new team. Originally, after "Demonic Calamity", there were two novels with Sigad as the protagonist: "The Fate of Sigard" and "Dark Angel and Light Fighter", but unfortunately due to the departure of Northern Blizzard and the change of the main creative team, the script setting has undergone fundamental changes, and the two sequels were stillborn without even having the opportunity to be published. But fortunately, the author of the novel sent out the writing outline, giving us a chance to get a glimpse of the charm of the original setting of Northern Blizzard.
It is worth noting that although the setting of "Demonic Calamity" was abandoned by the Diablo Trinity, the interaction between the Revenant Warriors and Tyrell was almost copied into the official novel "Original Sin War Trilogy" written for Diablo Trilogy, which is really embarrassing.
Okay, let's start with the story of Sigard.
Part 1: "Demonic Calamity"
Sigard wakes up in the wilderness, remembering only that he is a shield soldier under the command of Count Agiwuf of the kingdom of Antistig, and that he is fighting a vicious battle that he can no longer remember who his opponent is. He tried to find his way back to the battlefield of Brekmak, and after passing several slaughtered villages, he camped and slept exhausted.
He dreamed of fighting alongside his comrades, not humans, but a horde of ferocious Fallen Demons, sheep-headed people, and stealth demons (a generation of invisible monsters).
He is then woken up by a blond cloaked man named Tyrell (yes, Tybama!), who tells him a lot about souls and then advises him not to continue north to Brekmaqu, but Sigard doesn't listen.
It was a long time before he set up camp again, only to find that he was not hungry. After being woken up by the rain, he walked north for another day, and at night came across a red-robed Faith Gelly mage from Kakistan in the Eastern Continent: Sanakelle. The two men had a great conversation, and when Sigard mentioned that he was going to go to Brekmakhar, the mage told him that Antestag's army had been wiped out there a few days earlier. Frightened by the fact that the demons would be driven into his homeland and the plight of his wife and daughter were in dire straits, they decided to go to Silgard's hometown, a village outside Brenno.
When they arrived a few days later, the village had been destroyed, and the heads of the villagers had been heaped into a hill in the square by demons, in which Sigard found his unfortunate wife. Grief-stricken, Sigaard then met a few surviving fellow villagers, who told him that the devil had eaten all the children, so not only his wife but also his daughter were gone.
They stayed in the village that night, and the mage warned Sigard that the survivors might have become the demon's pawns, and sure enough, they soon attacked them and were defeated and killed by Sigaard.
Told him that it must be a boss-level demonic commander, the mage decided to go to Brenno City to warn the local garrison, and halfway through an ancient tomb, Sigard was summoned by a mysterious song to find a legendary sword: "Guthbreoht" (Old English of Arthurian times), which the mage pointed out was the work of the legendary craftsman Willund. In the song of the sword, Sigard dreamed of the battlefield again, and this time he dreamed of the whole battle: the sheep-headed archers (a generation of monsters) completely suppressed the human army, and the sunken demons and melee sheep-headed warriors violently attacked the shield wall. Sigard and his comrades fought hard when the demon leader finally appeared, a horned monster taunting humanity in the name of the Lord of Fear, and the Stalker took the opportunity to sneak behind the shield wall and begin to kill the unprepared soldiers.
Awakened again, Sigard and the mage continued on their way to Brenno City. They learned that Count Agivuv had been killed in battle and was now succeeded by his son Tilga.
The demons soon began to lay siege to Brenno, and Sigald, armed with the Melody of Light, showed his might and was given the opportunity to meet the new Earl. The mage pointed out that the demon boss was using the tactics of the Blood Demon Battlek, and the Count and his staff devised a plan to defend the city and prepare to meet the enemy. However, when the demon boss finally appeared on the battlefield, the mage's face changed dramatically: he recognized the leader: Asher, an invincible being protected by ancient spells and unable to be harmed by the living.
So the mage and Sigard rushed to the Earl's council chamber to report, only to see Tyrell again. What was especially much to Sigalde's dismay was that everyone in the room, except for him, knew Tyrrell and knew that he was an angel. Tyrrell points out that the chances of killing Asher are slim to none, and that the only way to win is to fight and annihilate the entire demon army.
After another fierce battle, the stealthy stalker has captured the highest point of Brenor Castle and the city has fallen. The Count evacuated the townspeople, blew up the walls, and retreated, preparing to ask the king of Anteystig for reinforcements. But Sigard was vengeful and sneaked back to Brenno late at night despite being dissuaded, intending to assassinate Ascher.
Successfully infiltrated, Sigard and Ascher officially faced off. Ascher, who was protected by a spell, mocked Sigard for his stupidity, but unexpectedly, after a hard-fought battle, Sigard succeeded in killing the Adversary, and Asher's minions immediately dispersed, and the city of Brenno was restored.
At this time, Tyrrell reappeared, telling Sigard that he had actually been killed in battle when the shield wall was broken through at the Battle of Brekmaqu, but the strong bond in his heart for his wife and daughter brought him back to life. This phenomenon was so rare that Tyrell was so concerned that he eventually induced him to break Ascher's protective spell as a deceased and save the whole of Anteystig. But correspondingly, because revenge did not erase the bond in Sigaard's heart, he continued to live with eternal loneliness.
Part 2: The Fate of Sigard
One day, while Sigard was drinking mead, Tyrell appeared to him and told him that a crazed fallen mystic was trying to summon Diablo to the human world. Shygard tracked the mystic all the way to the tower where he was entrenched, only to find that the summoning ritual was almost complete. Diablo promised Sigard that he would resurrect his wife and daughter, tempting him to serve him, telling him that angels had been deceiving humanity and that the war for original sin had never been a war between good and evil. But Sigard resisted the temptation and killed the evil mystic, sending Diablo back to Hell. Tyrrell reappeared and told Sigard that everything had just begun, but Sigald didn't care about it anymore, what had just happened shook his soul deeply, and all he needed was to be alone.
Part 3: "Dark Angels and Light Fighters"
Twenty years after the story of Demonic Calamity, the mage Sanakel succeeds in redirecting the Fessgery, who are notorious for summoning demons, back to the path of elemental magic, and vows to stand against the demons. During a failed exorcism, he loses a colleague who is beaten back to Hell to reveal that a great evil is about to befall him. Shocked, Sanakel left the mage clan alone to find the truth, never to return.
Seven hundred years have passed, and the Hradim Brotherhood has successfully sealed the two Demon Kings, leaving Diablo on the run (unlike the later setting, the current description is that Baal was the last to be banned), and the leader of Hradim, Jared Kane, is sparing no effort to hunt him down.
At this time, Sigard was living peacefully in the north with the barbarian tribes, until a wise man led him to the burial place of Sanakhel. The mage's soul appears and reveals to him the secret that an angel will protect even if he kills him, and he is about to leave to consider the matter when Tyrell reappears and summons his service again, this time to help Hradim defeat Diablo, to which Sigard reluctantly agrees.
Jared Kane pursued Diablo and his remnants from Westermaqu to the frigid Taymor Heights, where he settled at the Blind Eye Monastery, known for its divination and healing skills. The abbot told Kane that there was a demon army in the north that was about to move, so he organized a team to investigate.
As a result, they were ambushed, and at the critical moment, Sigard appeared with the "Melody of Light" in his hand, repelled the demons, and rescued the Hradim team. He revealed his identity and intentions to Kane, and went with the main force of Hradim to encircle and suppress Diablo. In a vicious battle, Diablo confronts Silgard, the Demon King's sword is strengthened by a magic-cracking symbol, and the "Melody of Light" is defeated and shattered, and Diablo takes the opportunity to escape again.
Tyrrell reappears before Sigard, who shows him the fragments of the sword and tells him that his mission is over. Tyrrell tells him that Velund, the forger of the Melody of Light, is a miracle revenator like him, and tells him to go to the legendary blacksmith. Sigard found him, and the blacksmith recast the Melody of Light, imbuing him with stronger magic, and Sigad was able to return to fight alongside Hradim once again.
By this time, Diablo had reorganized his army and destroyed the Blind Eyes Monastery. The abbot and the other surviving nuns began to take up arms, forming the first Rog Warrior Regiment (also different from the new book, the current setting is that Blind Eyes was first founded by Amazon rebels, originally a warrior organization), and they joined the army of Hradim to fight against Diablo. The coalition forces moved to Tristram to recuperate and use the city as a base to fight Diablo.
Led back to the army by Tyrell, Sigard met a local widow and fell in love with him at first sight as the romance began.
It was a terrible siege, and the city almost fell under the onslaught of the demon army. So in the night, Sigard and Jared Kane led the death squad to infiltrate Diablo's tent, defeated the demon king, and successfully sealed it into the soul stone, and the demon army was scattered.
During the celebration of the Hradiums, Tyrell reappeared, and Shygard accused him of why the secrets of the angels had to be guarded at such a terrible cost to humans. Ignoring Tyrell's warning, Hygard revealed to everyone present the dark history of angels: angels and demons were originally of the same clan, and in the distant past, some angels lived in heaven and others in the burning hell of chaos. Because of the different circumstances, the inhabitants of heaven become elegant and noble, while the inhabitants of hell are stimulated to their most primitive nature, and their bodies and spirits are distorted. (This paragraph is the biggest deviation from the current setting, no wonder the book can't be published)
When the secret is revealed, Tyrell goes berserk, wielding the Holy Sword and slaughtering everyone in the venue. Knowing what a mistake he had made, Sigard tried his best to convince the archangel that the seal of the demon king would not last without them, and that the remaining Heradim promised to take the secret all the way to the grave, so Tyrell stopped the killing, and Sigard left the venue to meet his new lover.
However, Tyrell appears before him again, telling him that the bond that had left him alive had been broken and that his life was coming to an end because he had found love again. Sigard protests that he already has the motivation to live, but Tyrrell says that his wife and daughter have been waiting for him for seven hundred years in that life, and it is time to return to them. Silgard finally saw them and walked towards them, and he finally rested in peace.
The next day, Kane discovers the dead Sigard, and Tyrell tells him what happened. Sigard received a heroic funeral, and Hradim and the Blind Eye buried him with the Melody of Light under the Temple of Hradim in Tristram, where the Diablo Soul Stone was also suppressed.
