Chapter 035: Fanged Tower
"Earl Linde, that sounds good. "I've been in bed too long, bring me a set of clean clothes, and tell the doctor who kept me in bed, and if he dares to restrict my movements the next time, I'll feed the lions, tigers, crocodiles, and all the animals that will eat his lifeline!"www.biquge.info
"Clothes, life?" Aiden looked dazed.
Why my archery teacher is sober in battle and nimble in life, but the critical time is always a mess, Horn can't understand. "Clothes are things to be worn," he explained, "socks, blouses, breeches, coats, capes, boots." Give it to me, and if you're not in a hurry, you'd better put it on for me, and then I can leave this damn place and go to your lord and help him with those annoying problems, like the arrow that hurt your arm!"
With the strength of the three of them, he got dressed. Although the scar on the neck that almost robbed the vocal cords was the most obvious, it was the shoulder-arm junction and the left ankle that were pierced by an arrow and a blunt sword stab, respectively. In his sleep, he vaguely remembered that when the old doctor changed his clothes, blood and pus would seep out of the faded flesh, and the slightest movement would cause a tingling pain that pierced through his body.
After putting on his top, Horn wrapped up a pair of light gray breeches and a cotton nightgown loosely. Aiden lifted him up and put on his shoes, while Lind found him a stick, but he threw it so far that it almost hit the guard at the door. Before going out, he drank a glass of painkiller, and although a lot of honey was added to the wine, the taste was still difficult to swallow.
Even so, the tingling pain still made him dizzy, and as he walked up the winding stone steps of the palace, the pain in his left leg and ankle made his whole leg tremble, and he could only hold Linde's arm with one hand, and press forward with the other hand on Aiden's shoulder. On the way, he met a servant who stared at them with wide, white eyes that seemed to marvel at the shocking scar.
The tusked tower was the oldest but most fortified part of the palace, like a city within a city, surrounded by a dry and deep moat with spikes on the riverbed. The sun had just risen when he went out, and the drawbridge had not yet been lowered, and a knight named Tran, dressed in Union armor, stood by the bridge. "Man, put the bridge down. Linde ordered him.
"I'm sorry, three adults, Mike-sama has ordered that the drawbridge should not be lowered from sunset to sunrise, and besides, Lord Mike, he is resting. Sir Tran said, bowing.
"Are you blind? The sun has already risen! Besides, it's Alan Dalton!" Horn jumped in front of Jazz on one foot, and if he hadn't needed to stand with both hands, he would have knocked off this guy's helmet long ago.
Alan Dalton's name seems to have magic. Sir Tran muttered quietly as he gave instructions, and the drawbridge was lowered. Another Guards stood guard across the river, and Aiden called him Ironclad Marin. Sir Marlin saw Alan Dalton staggering towards him, and smiled all over his face, "Feeling better, sir?"
"I have an impression of you, you are good at swordsmanship, and your equestrian skills are okay, so how about you take the lead with me when you attack Black?" said Horn as he jumped.
"Lord Xie raises love. β
Aiden led him to the spiral staircase, but Horn could only open his mouth in frustration. Damn, who built this damn staircase, how could I possibly climb it?
The staircase leading to the upper floor was made of dark black marble, polished and shiny, unlike the previous ankle-high stairs, each height of this staircase was half a knee apart, and Aiden had just said that Kenny lived on the top floor, and the study and council chamber were also on the top floor, and just looked out of the building, this fangs were dozens of stories high.
So, he had to swallow all his self-esteem, and was carried up in the air by the arms of Linde and Aiden, hoping that no one would be haunted, no one would see, no one would laugh at him, and no one would spread the ridiculous story of Alan Dalton, the great hero of Karta, who was lifted up the stairs.
Looking out from the high windows, tents are growing everywhere in the outer courtyard. "The lords don't want to occupy the dwellings and send their troops out of the city, it's too dangerous, after all, the war isn't over yet," Aiden explained as they climbed the stairs, "These are Lord Kane's Black Armor, and Queen Mira and Lord Dark's men. There's not enough space here, I mean, the whole castle can't fit in, and a lot of people still have to find their own places to live, in the city, in hotels and other places, all at our expense. β
"You're reminding me that my little dark room is already comfortable, aren't you?" Horn muttered.
"No, sir, I didn't mean that. β
There was still a faint light in the door of my father's bedroom. There were two guards standing at the door, who were my father's cronies. Horn recognized them both, and they both recognized him, but their eyes were locked on his neckβthe shocking scar to the touch.
"Are you alright, sir?" said one of the guards as the three approached. He was dressed in a gorgeous black lacquered cuirass and a wolf-patterned cloak that symbolized the status of the Guard, and his twinkling gaze seemed to feel sorry for Dalton, who had taken the lead.
"Don't you think it's cool?" Horn craned his neck, pointing to the long scar that ran down his throat to his ear.
"I'm sorry, sir, I don't think so. Another guard answered, "I wish this scar was on my neck, it would be an honor to be a guard, but now it is on your neck, it is our shame." β
"You're not humorous at all," Horn shrugged, "Kenny is still sleeping?"
"Lord, he hasn't slept all night. The first guard pushed open the door.
Kenny Dalton sat under the window, the curtain closed, and he wrote his letter by candlelight, when he heard the slight sound of the door opening, and raised his eyes. "Oh, you're finally awake, I thought you'd have to sleep for another half a month before you came over to help. He smiled, put down the quill in his hand, got up and walked over.
"I want to, too, but dying in bed isn't a wise choice. Horn removed the hand that was holding Aiden's shoulder and jumped at the oncoming father with his uninjured right leg, trying to keep his balance. He didn't want to be too weak in front of his father, as he had been and was now. "Two adults standing behind me, please wait outside," he said as he jumped, "Now, I'm going to talk to Lord Kenny about a private matter about the Dalton family." β
Lind bowed and stepped back, Aiden following him. The heavy oak door closed tightly behind him, leaving Horn alone in the great study facing his father. Now the sun is just setting, but the curtains in the house are all closed, the fire in the fireplace has been extinguished, and the cold is very oppressive.
He looked at his father and felt as if he was getting much older.
