Chapter 36 Peng Zu Builds Peng City
readx;? Representative works: China's first health care book "Peng Zujing". Pen Qu Ge www.biquge.info was born on the third day of the third lunar month in the 23rd year of Emperor Yao (BC2302) and died on the 12th day of the sixth lunar month in the 20th year of Emperor Yu (BC2188), at the age of 114.
Legend has it that Peng Zu lived to be 800 years old and was a god of longevity. His way of health preservation has been compiled into a "Peng Zu Jing" by later generations. Historians believe that the so-called Peng Zu's longevity of 800 years is actually the number of years of existence of the Great Peng State. Peng Zu had a great influence in history. Confucius held him in high esteem; pre-Qin thinkers such as Zhuangzi, Xunzi, and LΓΌ Buwei all had remarks about Peng Zu; historical books such as the "Records of the Historians" also recorded him; Taoism regarded Peng Zu as one of the pioneers and founders, and many Taoist classics have preserved Peng Zu's health preservation legacy. In the pre-Qin period, Peng Zu was a sage in the hearts of people. In the Western Han Dynasty, Liu Xiang's "Legend of the Immortals" included Peng Zu in the immortal world and was called Shuoxian. Peng Zu gradually became a mythical figure.
"Liezi Li's Life" "Peng Zu's wisdom is not above Yao Shun and lives eight hundred" said: "Peng Zu, the ancestor of the surname Peng." Peng's surname: Da Peng, Feng Wei, Zhu Ji. Da Peng calendar Yu Xia, in Shang for the uncle, Wu Ding's world perished, so it is said that Peng Zu is 800 years old, said that Peng Guo died for 800 years, not real and immortal. This is a clear illustration of the situation. The so-called Peng Zu is 800 years old, which is actually the number of years of existence of the Great Peng Clan, and 800 is also an imaginary finger, indicating the length of the country. Peng Zu's descendants have three vassal states: Da Peng (Peng's ancestral industry), Feng Wei, and Zhu Ji.
It is said that during the reign of Emperor Yao, the Central Plains region was flooded. As the leader of the tribe at that time, Emperor Yao commanded the control of the water, and because of his long-term concern for the safety of the tribe and his subordinates, Emperor Yao became ill and was bedridden. He didn't get a drop of water for several days, and his life was in danger. At this critical juncture, Peng Zu immediately cooked a pheasant soup according to his own health regimen. Before the soup was served, Emperor Yao smelled the fragrance from a distance, turned over and jumped up, moved his index finger, and then drank it all, and the next day he was radiant. Since then, Emperor Yao must eat this chicken soup every day, although he has all kinds of opportunities, but he will not get sick. For a while, it was passed down as a beautiful talk and passed down. Pheasants were not uncommon at that time, and the ingredients were not mysterious, so the "suspicions" focused on Peng Zu's other secret recipe.
"Peng Zu Yangdao" once recorded: "Emperor food, heaven raises wood fruit seeds". A bowl of ordinary chicken soup can be a little water-based medicine, and the health effect comes from this small wood fruit seed (tea seed). Peng Zu knew the health effects of wood fruit seeds (tea seeds), so he would hit the trick. The secret of Emperor Yao's longevity (probably the longest-lived monarch, around 140) is also found in this tea seed.
Peng Zu's "The Way of Pheasant Soup" gradually developed into "The Way of Cooking", and the Pheasant Soup is the earliest famous dish recorded in China's classics, known as "the first soup in the world". In the history of Chinese cooking, Peng Zu is said to be "the first famous professional chef in China" and "the longest-lived chef", and is still respected as the ancestor of the kitchen industry.
After that, Yao gave him Pengcheng (Tongshan District, Xuzhou, Jiangsu), and the country was named Da Pengguo, the ancestor of the founding of the country, so later generations called him Peng Zu.
However, this argument may not be credible, and the ownership of a place cannot be determined by a dish, and it should be that it has merit in itself, so it was rewarded to him this fief by the opportunity to cook, and the area around Pengcheng was still on the edge of Dongyi at that time. The princes and ministers were all sealed around to defend the Central Plains (Henan) Dynasty, which was actually a colony of the Huaxia in the East, mainly as a base for conquest and defense of the Dongyi tribe. However, it also explains why it is revered as the originator of cooking.
After Peng Zu was sealed in Pengcheng, he worked hard to develop this land. He led the people to control the flood and build their homes; he mobilized the people to build cities to defend against the attacks of wild beasts and foreign tribes; he was calm and self-controlled, allowing the people of Dapeng to let go of their hands to develop production; he took the lead in digging the first well in Dapeng, so that the people could drink the sweet and clear spring water; he pioneered the guiding technique, taught the people to exercise, expelled the yin and dampness in the body, and strengthened the physique with soft muscles and bones; he invented the cooking technique, which pushed human cooking from cooked food to delicious food, and completed a leap in human cooking culture...... The people of Pengcheng have been grateful to Pengzu for generations, and there are still relics such as Pengzu well, Pengzu house, and Pengzu tomb.
Because the Pengzu clan is good at health preservation, it is a representative famous longevity family in ancient times. There are many long-lived people in the clan. As a result, legends such as Peng Zu's longevity of 800 years were gradually produced and spread to later generations. Peng Zu's longevity was widely publicized at that time. The popular Xilian "Su Cai Guo Fu, Ji Zi Peng Nian" is Su Dongpo's talent, Guo Ziyi's blessing, Ji Chang's many sons, and Peng Zu's longevity.
The Jin Dynasty physician Ge Hong wrote the "Legend of the Immortals" in the special Peng Zuli biography, the king at that time sent someone to ask him for advice, he only said: "I was born in the womb, lost my mother at the age of three, was rebelled by the dogs, and was exiled from the Western Regions for more than 100 years." With less withering, he lost forty-nine wives, lost fifty-four sons, suffered several sorrows, was wounded by harmony, and his honor and defense were scorched, and he was afraid that he would not survive the world. What is heard is shallow and not enough publicity. β
When Peng Zu was young, he liked to be quiet, had no interest in things in the world, did not chase fame and fortune, did not like luxurious carriages and horses, and regarded self-cultivation as the top priority.
When the king heard of his high character, he asked him to be an official. But Peng Zu often used illness as an excuse not to participate in official business. He is very proficient in the art of nourishing the body, and often takes Dan prescriptions such as "Shui Gui Mica Powder" and "Elk Jiaosan", so in his later years, his face is always as young as a young man.
He was pure and inactive, sitting alone, sitting quietly and holding his breath, sitting upright from morning to noon, gently rubbing his eyes with his hands, gently massaging all parts of his body, licking his lips with his tongue and swallowing saliva, transporting qi dozens of times, and then collecting his work, having a car and a horse but rarely riding; that is, when he traveled, he also walked alone, without travel expenses and rations, and he walked for dozens or even hundreds of days, and people did not know where he went, and even his servants did not know where he went, and when he came back, he was still very healthy as usual.
If he occasionally feels tired or unwell, he uses the method of holding his breath to treat the sick in his body, so that the qi in his chest spreads to all parts of his body, whether it is the nine orifices on his face, the five organs of his heart, his hands, feet, limbs, and even the hair on his body. At this time, you will feel that the qi is running like a cloud in the body, from the nose and mouth to the ends of the ten fingers, and after a while, the whole body will feel very comfortable.
When the king went to visit Peng Zu, he often did not inform him, and secretly left some treasures and playthings for him to give him and left. The king's reward to Peng Zu was tens of thousands of gold, and Peng Zu accepted it, but he immediately gave them to the poor people, and did not keep them at all.
