Chapter 033: Cabin in the Woods
As the forest faded from shallow to slippery mossy to mud, it seemed as if it had just experienced a violent storm. Pen | fun | pavilion www. ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ γ ο½ο½ο½ο½
The wild bushes turned into clusters of green wheat straw-like ground cover, the dense and thick old trees were replaced by slender and sparse aspen trees, and the wild vines that spread everywhere, and knee-deep multi-tailed grasses, which were much better for the weary traveler than in the depths of the forest, and more importantly, they received a basket of fresh bread at night in a suitable place to camp.
By noon the next day, the three of them had left the dark forest behind them, and to it was an undulating forest of pine needles, interspersed with valleys of various sizes, and mountains in the distance, and after looking at the map, they determined that the witch's hut that White had spoken of was nearby.
The pine needle forest was overgrown with weeds, and the ground was covered with sprouting primroses and some kind of thorny vines, but fortunately there were signs of animal trampling everywhere, so it was not too difficult for them to walk most of the time.
The three of them walked along the edge of the forest, and after about an hour, Mike pointed to the stream in front of him on the left and shouted, "Hey, guys, I just saw that river on the map!"
Alan stopped, and Sersi took out the map again. "That's right, it's nearby, it's close. Alan glanced at the map and raised his finger to the front, "From now on, we need to be careful." β
"Watch out for whom, witch?" Selsi muttered as she scrolled through the map, "Why? weren't they driven away?"
"Because the knights had already come, the hut was the safest place to be. Alan said slowly, "They're probably in the cabin right now, ready to slaughter the intruders, but only if they're the same as I thought." β
"It makes sense, if it were me, I would go back there and hide. Mike adds a vote to this reasoning.
"Do you smell anything?" said Sersi, sniffling.
"Dirt?" Alan sniffed.
"No, it doesn't seem to be. Mike sniffed carefully, then turned back.
"What's there?" Alan asked, looking at the change in expression on Mike's face.
"I don't know, it looks like a corpse. Mike rubbed his eyes, then turned and turned back to the northwest.
The pace of the trio changed from brisk walking to trotting, and they followed the pine forest all the way north, and then a little west.
As the distance approached, a strange smell suddenly hit, bursts of pine sap, mixed with the smell of rotten sweat, tired corpses, sour horse urine, and a hint of earthy smell after rain, constantly burrowing into their noses.
Eventually, a large chunk of the ground collapsed into view, and the bodies of hundreds of soldiers, who seemed to be riding on horses before their deaths, had become burial objects.
"What's going on here?" Sersi felt chills chill as he stared at the shocking sight in front of him.
"I don't know, but I think it's a little cold in here. Alan said as he folded his arms and walked down the sunken slope, crouching down beside the corpse of one of the soldiers closest to him.
"What did you find?" Mike asked.
"The fatal wound is a sharp blade that pierces the chest, the incision is smooth and goes straight to the heart, and it should not have suffered much before dying. Alan paused, then frowned, "But the expressions of these people were very frightened, and they seemed to have seen something terrible before they died." β
Mike looked around and pondered for a few seconds. "Man, there's something strange about this war. "Looking at the armaments and coats of arms, they seem to be an army, and there are no corpses of the enemy here, which is not logical." β
"Cannibalism?" Selsey guessed.
"No, it's not. Alan stood up, "If it was cannibalism, their corpses should be piled up in threes and twos, but obviously not, and more importantly, most of the people here haven't even drawn their swords." He thought for a moment, then narrowed his eyes. "They were supposed to die of witchcraft, some kind of witchcraft that was massively destructive. β
"Oh my God.....," Sersi exclaimed to himself.
"Go, I'm getting more and more interested in that witch now. Alan smiled coldly and climbed onto the collapsed ground. Then they followed the river all the way east.
The rest of the road was easier than before, knee-high weeds turned into soft lawns, and although the rain made the ground muddy enough, it was better than a dense forest, and finally they stopped in front of the rows of trees and seedlings.
"Look, how neat they are. "It's like someone planted it on purpose." β
"That's right, it's a cherry tree, and someone did grow it. Alan crouched down, "These trees seemβ"
"Don't guess!" Mike interrupted abruptly, then pointed to the east, "I've seen the hut, it's there!"
The two looked in the direction of his finger. On the other side of the river, about a mile near another forest, there was a low wooden house, which looked inconspicuous from here because of the interweaving of trees, and the outer wall of the wooden house was almost integrated with the trees, and it was difficult to spot.
The three of them immediately got up and swam across the rushing river, slowing their pace, holding back their breath, and drawing their swords and axes as they approached the hut.
Alan saw that the back window of the hut seemed to be open, swaying back and forth in the wind, making a creaking sound. Then, he made a gesture of separation, with Sercy and Mike walking around the front of the room from either side, while he slowly leaned towards the open window.
By this time, it was almost dusk, and it was almost dark in the open window due to the side light.
Allen's steps were so light that he didn't make a sound even in the mud, he cautiously approached the edge of the window, and pressed his black steel sword against the window beam, trying to make it stop for a while, and then he came closer, and dared to put his head in, and when his eyes adjusted to the darkness a little, he saw a bald head wearing an eye patch.
"Hey!" he yelled madly, "what are you doing!scare, scare me!!"
"Hahaha!" Sersi let out a maniacing laugh. He pushed the blindfold with his hand, then leaned on the window edge in a relaxed tone, "Just kidding! You're so nervous, man!"
Eren sighed and withdrew the black steel sword back into its scabbard. "What's in the house?" he asked, "is that the house we're looking for?"
"It should be!" Mike's voice came from inside the room.
"You see, it should be. Sersi held out a finger, leaned on the window edge and nodded and repeated.
"There's blood here, Alan, come and see!" Mike's voice came again.
"Oh, do you hear that? There's blood in there, man, you'd betterβ"
Before he could finish speaking, Alan jumped into the house with Sercy's bare head.
He stared at the old floor, the blood had dried up, and the time suggests that the fight should have been three days before, or more, and then they searched the leaky wooden house, rattling the broken pots and pans.
"Ai, Alan!!" Sersi exclaimed suddenly.
Alan jerked his head up and saw Sersi pull out a tattered red cloth from under the bed. "What's wrong?" he wondered.
"Look, look! What is this?!" Serci's voice trembled.
"What did you find?" said Mike, walking in from outside.
I don't know, he yelled at a rag. Alan scratched his nose in confusion.
"On this cloth, there are your Dalton's wolf prints!" Exc. Sersi exclaimed anxiously.
At this moment, the room suddenly became pitch black, and the whole world seemed to enter a dim night in an instant.
