Chapter 18: A Night Tour at Hogwarts
When Harry was cleaned up, the two of them quietly opened the door to the dormitory and crept to the Slytherin common room like thieves.
There was only a faint light in the common room, barely allowing them to leave without a sound.
Tom followed his plan and climbed the stairs to visit the second floor of the castle, which he had not set foot in during the day.
Along the way, they did not meet anyone, except for portraits who watched them hide with interest.
But Tom didn't feel good about it.
He always thought that someone was following them, but every time he turned around, he didn't notice anything.
"Do you think there's anything wrong?" Tom decided to ask Harry, who was traveling with him, what he thought, "I've been feeling uneasy. ”
"Something is wrong? No, I didn't notice anything. I think your uneasiness probably comes from the fear of breaking the school rules for the first time. ”
"Does that sound like you're used to breaking school rules?"
"In Muggle schools, I broke almost all the school rules to avoid the trouble Dudley was causing me. ”
Tom gave a thumbs up.
"It reminds me of what my dad said. ”
"What?" asked Harry, curious.
"People who have the courage to break the rules often have abilities that others don't have, which makes it easy for him to succeed. Tom replied as he looked around.
Harry couldn't understand how this sounded so much like what Uncle Vernon would say after Dudley's trouble.
"Of course, that's all it takes," Tom added, "and if I did, I'm afraid I'd be a lawless stinkboy now." ”
"I don't agree with that," said a knight in heavy armor in a portrait behind them, "and the rules are important, but there are some unreasonable rules that we have to break with the courage to break." ”
The portrait saw that the two were startled by his voice, laughed, mounted his horse, screamed, and disappeared into the frame with his sword in hand.
Tom and Harry looked at each other.
The two were silent for a while, and Tom said, "I have to say, it will take me some time to get used to the magic of Hogwarts." ”
Harry knew that.
They continued to move cautiously.
Hogwarts is particularly quiet in the middle of the night under the moonlight.
White moonlight filtered in through the large windows, casting long shadows on the floor of the hallway.
They walked through the shadows of no one and quietly opened the doors of empty classrooms.
Little by little, the clock tickled towards two o'clock in the middle of the night, and Tom began to yawn.
He finally wrote a few words in his notebook and decided to go back to his dormitory.
Harry didn't feel sleepy at all, and followed behind Tom with all his heart.
But Rubelos looked boredly east and west.
Suddenly, Rubelos stopped, opened his mouth and grabbed the corner of Tom's robe, pulling him into an empty classroom.
Startled, Tom grabbed Harry's hand and dragged him into the classroom.
There are two possibilities for Rubelos to pull him, one is that he feels the Kuro cards in this classroom, and the other is that someone is approaching them.
The two and the beast crouched down in a shadow in the classroom.
Tom looked at Koruberos with questioning eyes, but Rubelos shook his head.
Tom immediately understood that it wasn't a Kulo card.
He put his index finger to his lips and signaled Harry to keep silent in the dim moonlight.
Harry nodded quickly.
It wasn't long before a figure flashed through the hallway where the classroom was, and Tom and the others were not found in the classroom.
Just as Tom breathed a sigh of relief, another tall figure quietly walked by.
Tom's expression became solemn.
He suddenly remembered that he now not only had the task of finding the "time" card and returning to his own time, but also faced the danger that Voldemort, the Dark Lord of the wizarding world, could enter the school at any time.
He turned to look at Harry, who was staring nervously down the hallway, afraid someone else would come by.
Tom still remembers that Harry escaped from the powerful Dark Wizard once again this year when he smashed Voldemort's attempt to steal the Philosopher's Stone.
Philosopher's Stone.
Tom remembered the card he had picked up from the Chocolate Frog on the train, and it was no surprise that the Philosopher's Stone was the work of the great alchemists Nicol Lemay and Albus Dumbledore, and that would appear at Hogwarts.
With the Philosopher's Stone, then Hogwarts must be the place Voldemort wanted to invade.
This meant that he had to find a way to get out of here and go back to his time before Voldemort entered the school.
Although this was a bit unpleasant for Harry, he believed that even in his absence, Harry would be able to defeat Voldemort and survive safely.
"Why do you think that a child your age now can survive at the hands of a powerful dark wizard?" said a small voice in Tom's mind.
Because Harry is the savior, the boy who never dies.
Tom said in his heart.
But inevitably, he himself felt that this reason was vulnerable.
But even if he stays here, he won't be able to help anything.
Tom thought.
"You can do more than you think. The voice said again.
No, no, no, I'm just a laughing wizard who has just entered the wizarding world from the Muggle world.
"Harry is just like you. The small voice sneered, "If you can't help, how can he survive?" ”
Tom was silent.
"It seems like no one is coming anymore. At this point, Harry whispered, "Shall we go?"
Tom nodded, and stood up with Harry.
"That was Professor Quirrell and Professor Snape just now, right?" said Harry, uncertainly.
"It's them. Tom replied.
"They don't look like they're on patrol. Harry said confusedly.
"Maybe the two professors are investigating something?"
"But don't you think it's like Professor Snape is following Professor Quirrell?"
"Maybe it's just because Professor Snape is curious about Professor Quirrell's behavior?"
"Maybe. ”
After confirming that there was no one in the hallway, they cautiously made their way back to the Slytherin common room.
There was still no one in the lounge.
Harry slumped in a chair, "I'm finally able to relax, it's been a really exciting night." ”
Tom was preoccupied.
He opened his notebook and looked at his plan on it.
Tom doesn't think he's a good-hearted person, and when anything happens, he weighs it before deciding whether to get involved.
The relationship between Harry and Voldemort is, to put it bluntly, a struggle between two different parties in the wizarding world, without great strength, and only relying on a moment of pity to get involved, which is something that only a fool can do.
"Click"
The entrance to the lounge was heard opening.
Tom and Harry jumped alertly, drew their wands, and watched the entrance warily.
