Chapter 30: Tragic Attack and Defense
Ball lightning is roaring. The flames shape in its hands, and the frost spreads.
The rebel armor had never seen such a monster, and although they were tough and brave, they could not understand this inhuman creature.
It wields a flaming whip in its right hand, and a greatsword forged of ice in its left.
The raging currents lifted Bereus's form and ran over the rebels. The latter subconsciously raised his shield to form a solid shield wall.
If you're fighting against large creatures and mutated monsters, that's true.
But elemental creatures are different.
Berenius didn't have sharp teeth or claws, and he didn't have to be frighteningly sized. It raised its frost greatsword and swept across the shield wall, its blade wrapped in the blizzard and knocked them all back, knocking several rebels to the ground in armor. The flaming whip followed, whipping at the armoured leg of a rebel.
The surging heat of energy sliced through the air with a loud thud, slicing through the rebels' armored thighs with the ease of a hot knife cutting through butter. Even the blood vessels, bone marrow and nerves can be clearly seen in the smooth section, and the wound does not even leave a burn mark.
"Kill it!"
The rest of the rebels were taken aback and swarmed up to slam Berenus with blades and hammers. The crystalline shield rippled, unmoved in the face of an attack capable of tearing through the armor.
With a wave of its hands, the ice sword and fire whip disappeared into invisibility, and in its place a raging flame erupted.
The rebels were caught off guard and were burned beyond recognition by the turbulent flow of flames on the spot. The flames tore through the cracks in their armor, turning the metal red, and the armoured soldiers shattered in an instant.
Berenius rushed past them and swooped down on the rebel brigade behind, sweeping them with a stream of scorching fire.
More than two hundred rebels followed behind the Reims Armor Guards as behemoths like war elephants rushed into the crowd. In the blink of an eye, tongues of fire tore through their formations, burning them with heart-rending screams.
Berenius rampaged through the crowd, occasionally waving his hands and throwing flames, killing as much as he could. Its muffled voice roared:
"We're burning, we're freezing!"
Contradictory and chaotic forces converge into a twisted psionic turbulence that drives the terrifying elemental lords on a rampage.
Lance, who was in the middle of the battle, suddenly found that his infantry was already in a rout.
He froze his nerves, unhurriedly pressed Lana's attack axis with his sheepbone shield, and swung his flail to smash his head and face.
Rana was beaten and retreated.
If he is a general, he can use heavy armor shields to resist enemy damage, and use the sword or majestic wrath to suppress it. Both the weight of the Great Sword and the sharpness of the Broken Steel Sword are enough to defeat the enemy.
Even, Kulala was still responding to him with a continuous stream of snipers.
However, despite the fact that Lance had several sharp arrows stuck in his body, it did not hinder him at all.
Laner felt like he had been swept into a hail when faced with Reims' precise and powerful blows, and he was overwhelmed by the fierce attack.
His movements began to deform, his rhythm was chaotic, and in a very short time he felt so tired that he even lost his breath.
The two are not of the same rank at all.
Although he was not instantly knocked away like Murat and Nona, he couldn't hold on anymore.
Rana backhanded with his slashing sword, grabbing the broken steel sword at his waist and sweeping it away, trying to create a little respite for himself.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Lance retreated, he turned around and chased in the direction of Bereus. The rebels immediately turned around and blocked Lana's pursuit, stopping him.
Lance's burly body rushed towards Berenius at an unimaginable speed. At the moment of encounter, his flail once again appeared as if it were a phantom passing through the plane, and in a deafening whistling sound, it smashed towards the elemental lord.
"Boom ββ!"
The heavy shield rattled and cracked like glass. The earth and the air trembled. Sonya, who had been helping from afar, was almost blown away by the wind. However, Bereus's agitated magic immediately repaired the broken shield, and swept in a stream of scorching fire.
......
"Bertier: They're really strong. Murat shouted with joy. He and Nona fell into a long state of vertigo and sluggishness after being sent flying, and by the time the two of them got up, the confrontation was over.
"No, not yet," Nona whispered negative, wiping the blood from her forehead, "Bertier and Dedius are kinship and are capable of casting some mysterious forbidden spells.
"However, their high-level advent and fusion completely exceeded the limits of their abilities, and could only last less than three minutes, otherwise there was a great possibility that they would not be able to restore their human bodies. In order to protect their safety, their clan has long imposed prohibitions and hints that limit their duration.
"With Reims' attack, they can definitely hold out for a shorter period of time. β
The rebel armor and infantry brigade had broken away from the Elemental Lord's pursuit, changed the direction of their attack, and rushed towards the position of the three.
Nona glanced at her left hand and saw that her forearms had been folded ninety degrees under the attack just now.
"Murat, take your hand. β
As soon as the words fell, she grabbed the hand of her old comrade-in-arms and stuffed it into her mouth, and pressed the joint of her left hand with her right hand and pressed it hard.
"Click!"
"Wow!"
Murat screamed.
Nona's left forearm was reset, and with the blessing of the Eternal Patriarch, the broken bones and nerve damage would heal faster. She hurriedly poured herself a bottle of healing potion, the corners of her mouth twitched, and the sweat was like rain.
Such a simple and straightforward treatment plan makes Lana's eyelids jump. He retracted the Severesteel Sword, held the sword in his hand, and said, "Then, no matter how the battle on Bereus's side wins, we must clear these rebels as soon as possible. β
Murat took a shield from her back and tossed it to Nona, holding her halberd behind her side.
Six rebel armoured men and hundreds of rebel infantry, armed with spears and axes, charged again towards the gap.
The three Shotolars guarding there abruptly left their positions, leading them to counterattack with Nona first.
"Throw guns!"
"Shoot them!"
The six armors led by him took the armor-piercing spear in his hand and threw a volley at the oncoming Nona. They must have all been legion veterans, and even the techniques and tactics were the same.
The spear pierced the shield, followed by a series of armor-piercing sounds on the sturdy shield. Although their strength was weakened by two layers of defense, one of the throwing spears stabbed Nona in the arm, and the other pierced through the shield and struck her breastplate shoulder, knocking her out directly.
Before Nona fell, Murat had already dodged out from behind her, and the halberd pierced through the armor of a rebel who could not dodge like lightning, hitting him upside down, cutting a gap directly into the human wall.
Without pause, Murat passed directly past the remaining armor and rushed headlong into the middle of the rebel brigade that followed closely. The halberd swept through the flesh, the blade of the axe and the head of the spear tearing through the rain of blood. Several rebels tried to lay siege to him from behind, but were suddenly swept away by a heavy iron ball.
The halberd's tail counterweight crashed between human faces like a meteorite, with crackling bones and screams.
The rebels were about to turn around and come to the rescue. A murderous black image leaped straight into the gap carved by Murat like a meteorite.
Lana landed with a thud. He knelt on one knee, carrying the heavy sword of the horse on his shoulder, his cold eyes sparkling around, and a cruel smile flashed at the corner of his mouth.
Sen Ran's sword blade swept like a storm. The rebel armor that was huddled around suddenly lost its center of gravity. When they came to their senses, they saw a fierce warrior like a black wolf wreaking havoc on their knees with their swords.
The two short legs sprayed with blood were still standing in the muddy water, and they looked like their own calves no matter how they looked.
In just one assault, the three broke through the ranks of the rebels. In the blink of an eye, Lana and Murat slew all the rebel armor and launched a pursuit on the terrified rebel infantry.
The two were like wolves and sheep, chopping melons and cutting vegetables.
The infantry of this group of rebels was much more resilient and brave than the previous two waves, and many of them fought to the death without retreating.
The rebels stabbed with a dense network of short spears. The spearhead slammed into the shield, then snapped off on the slanted breastplate. The shattered gun head even ricocheted into the gunner's face.
"What kind of defense is this!"
In a burst of exclamations, Lana's great sword tore apart the armored rebel leader, and Murat's halberd swept through the crowd, the blade of the axe lifting a piece of limbs. Regardless of whether they have armor or not, they are like papier-mΓ’chΓ© under their attack.
"What kind of attack is this!"
The warriors of the rebels unleashed round after round of charge, but they could not penetrate the heavy armor of Rana and died instantly under the thunderous blows themselves.
A squad of slingers crowded over and took up a position on the sidelines, ready to destroy Shitolar with armor-piercing throwers. But before they could stagger with the chaotic brigade, heavily armored Rana had already rushed into their midst, killing them in pieces like mowing grass.
The rebels pursued frantically, but their speed could not keep up with the extraordinary ones of the heavy sword and heavy armor. By the time they reached the gunman's position, Rana had already left a trail of corpses and rushed into the midst of the archers.
"What kind of speed is this!"
The resilient rebels were shaken by heavy casualties. They are very brave, but they have never encountered such an enemy that cannot be penetrated, prevented, or caught up. More than 200 rebel soldiers are as precarious as saplings in a gale, and Lana and Murat are two hurricanes.
"Monsters!"
One of the rebels screamed and fled to the raft behind.
"The knights of Bayeran are all monsters!"
"Defeated, defeated!"
The rebels lost nearly half of their soldiers in a very short period of time, and the rest fled frantically towards the raft from which they came. In the deeper waters, more rebel reinforcements arrived, but they collapsed together at the sight of the bloody battlefield and the murderous foot cavalry.
Patches of rebels tumbled backwards like upside-down straw mats and ebbing waters. They screamed and screamed, fled frantically to the rear, and jumped headlong into the murky water, whether they could swim or not.
Lana and Murat were about to chase them down when they suddenly heard Nona's voice.
"You two, come back quickly, Berthier they can't hold on!"
......
In the heat of battle, Berenius is cracking and disintegrating. Although it is a powerful elemental lord, its power is limited by the Advent Charm. It also has no weapons and equipment of its own, and is consumed entirely by magic and Lance.
Under the blows of the shackles of astonishing leash, it retreated one after another, and finally shattered.
Bertier and Dedeius fell to the ground in human form. Their faces and lips were as white as paper, and their mental strength was so exhausted that they couldn't even stand up.
"Whew~ Finally!"
Lance gasped, raised the flail and slammed it down on Dedeus's head.
"Phew!"
A sharp arrow struck him in the wrist, stopping the fatal blow.
Kulala didn't have time to shift his position. She saw that Lana and the others were coming, and it would take at least five seconds to arrive, which was enough time for Lance to slap her lord Dedius three times.
She drew her armor-piercing arrow, and fired another arrow at Lance, who was obsessed with slapping Dedius to death.
The arrow pierced through the gap in Lance's shoulder armor and shook him a little.
Hurt him!
So far in the battle, Kurala has hit Lance at least seven or eight times. The rebel leader was like a hedgehog with arrows all over his body, but he was still extremely fierce, and this attack finally had a little real trauma.
Lance left Dedius alone, turned around like a storm, stared at her with astonishing momentum and anger, and grabbed a pair of bows and arrows from the ground strewn with dead bodies and weapons.
Kulara felt as if she was being stared at by the beasts of the abyss, and the icy chill spread over her limbs. She jumped into the shelter passage that had been built long ago, completely avoiding the enemy's gaze.
But the indescribable crisis and fear materialized in the air as a shadow of terror, and the terrible monster had bitten her. The breath of killing seemed to come alive, lingering wherever she hid.
"What's going on?" she muttered to herself, in disbelief, "I'm already hidden!"
"Kurala, run!" Nona exclaimed in the distance.
Run, where to run, where is the danger?
Before she could figure it out, a heavy arrow suddenly appeared above her head, shattering a piece of masonry. The shaft snapped at the same time as it struck, and the sharp arrow changed angle and ricocheted at her.
"Phew!"
The silver-haired Shotolar didn't even have time to snort, and threw his head up from the covered wall.
......
Nona sprinted towards Lance with all her might, grabbed a throwing gun on the ground and threw it.
Before her, Murat had already thrown a halberd, which was even more powerful.
In order to snipe Kurala, Lance didn't have time to resist with a sheepbone shield.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
With two muffled punctures, Lance's breastplate and leg armor were pierced in two places. He gritted his teeth, struggled to cut off the shaft of the throwing spear and the halberd, and retreated with the head of the spear.
Like an invading black flame, Rana swirls in the air with his sword, slashing at him.
The powerful and eeriely shaped sheepbone shield blocked the attack. At the same time, Lance pulled out a short sword with black gas from his waist. He pressed down on Lana's blade with his backhand, and the dagger pierced Ranna's breastplate as soon as it was delivered.
Fiona, who was providing shield support in the distance, shook her whole body and showed a panicked look, and the crystal shield disappeared.
Nona lunged with her sword and stabbed Lance in the right lower abdomen. The strong sinews gripped her sword like steel, and she couldn't get in or out.
Lance struck a blow and knocked Nona to the ground. Although he was also seriously injured, he still drew his chain flail and swung it towards Murat, who rushed to him.
Having no halberd, Murat met him with his sword, and was knocked to the ground by breaking the blade in just one turn.
"Oh, you guys, little ...... Oh!"
Lance was about to say a cruel word, when suddenly his whole body trembled, and blood spurted directly from his mouth.
Lana grabbed the grotesque dagger that pierced his chest with one hand, pulled out a majestic rage with the other, and stabbed him in the chest, stirring it hard.
The two of them each took a sword and glared at each other viciously. In the end, it was Lance who was even stronger, and he desperately broke free from Lana's strength, covering the blood-spurting wound and taking a few steps back.
"Little bastard, I want to, kill you......"
He vomited blood and cursed, but weakness and trembling had appeared on him.
Wizard Reed rushed over, and there was not a single rebel left around him, and he was the only one who could be brave enough to come here.
The leader of the rebels was crumbling, and the ground was littered with the sons of the nobles from Baieran and their guards.
Wizard Reed was about to chant an attack spell to take their lives, when he suddenly noticed a silver figure with a sword and shield rushing towards him.
And the knight?Wizard Reed was taken aback, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw a blonde-haired and silver-armored girl swinging his sword at him, and he was caught off guard, and his wand and two fingers were cut off and fell into the water.
"Retreat!" Lance growled.
Fiona arrived, clad in a cuirass like a Sultoral, sword in hand, and covered in a faint golden light. Behind her, Sonia was sketching out the configuration of the spell, and an icy air current was taking shape.
"Return to camp. Lance and Wizard Reed dropped their impending victory and quickly retreated.
......
Sonia sat at the table, curling the ends of her hair slightly.
Although she was nervous and scared, everyone seemed to be more nervous and scared than her. The professor died, and Shultolar all fell. There were only a few low-level teaching assistants and dozens of classmates who were engaged in chores.
Berthier is combing through the battle and lightly counting the wounded and losses:
"The rebels may break through the line at night. All of the Shultrals were wounded, Rana and Kurala were seriously wounded, and the Baron was leading men to repair the broken walls.
"Although Ishus was not injured, he was greatly mentally shocked when he unleashed the spell, and he is still in chaos. β
Sonia nodded. By her side, Fiona cried like a tearful man. Rana's sword was very strange, and a strange black aura lingered in the wound and could not be subsided.
Sonia bit her lip, clenched her fists, and said to herself - calm down, Sonya. Now it's up to you, and you have to take responsibility.
Sonia tried to maintain a faint smile, and calmly and clearly said to the room of classmates who were about to collapse:
"Griffith is near Old Town, there is still a group of city defenders there, and as long as Griffith attacks, everything will be fine. β
Bertier was stunned for a moment and reminded in a low voice: "Sonya, according to the previous intelligence, Griffith, can't launch an attack......"
β......β
Sonia was stunned.
Dedeus couldn't stand the grinding and chirping of his companions, and said, "The communication of the echo crystal is gradually restored, and Griffith arrived at the camp of the legion on the 18th. Whether he survived is unknown. β
Sonia felt as if she had been hammered on the head, and she almost fainted.
She bit her lip and the quill rolled off the table. She pressed her hand tightly against the desk to keep everyone from realizing that she was trembling:
"Let's go back and rest first, Shultor will be on night duty, and we will all have to get up early tomorrow. β
"Fiona, Bertier, Dedeeus, please stay. β
Sonya's voice was gentle, but she was already shaky.
Why? Why did Griffith go to the camp in the south? How did it get to this point......
I should not give in to Professor Witzleben, I should not back down, I should call on all my classmates to oppose him, and even if it doesn't work, we should run away at night.
If I had escaped here, Griffith wouldn't have been in danger......
Sonia felt that she was about to cry, she hurriedly wiped away her tears, stabilized and said, "We have to break through." It's impossible for everyone to rush out, but you can get one or two people to rush out. Go to Old Town to gather reinforcements and help me contain the rebels before Bayeran's reinforcements arrive. β
"The rebels will intercept us," Berthier tried to wipe away the gloomy countenance, "we can cover them for a while, but those who break through must have adequate protection and a certain amount of combat effectiveness." β
"Then we'll concentrate on sending a messenger out," Sonia felt her mind clear, "the messenger is not only going to Old Town to seek reinforcements, but also having enough influence to oversee them." β
