Chapter 13: The Twisted Jungle
It was a wonderful place, and although she had seen many similar sights in the sea, Lynn couldn't help but sigh, just like the coral reefs in the sea, the forest was indescribably rich in all kinds of creatures, and Lynn was surprised that such a wonderful scene had evolved on land.
This is where the worms really go, and thanks to their abundant food, they can grow into huge sizes.
However, thanks to the oxygen produced by plants, if the ultraviolet rays are still strong, no living things can live on land.
In the middle of the forest, the Leviathan walked forward, its feet covered with a layer of green moss, which felt soft when stepping on, and with each step, some small arthropods would pop out of it, most of them could fly, and the wings they used were very different from those of dragonflies.
Regarding flight, Lin still needs to study carefully, if she can't fly with wings alone, those floating jellyfish are the only way out for Leviathan, but unfortunately although there are many kinds of creatures here, Lin has not seen any floating jellyfish.
Walking around here, there are always a lot of small arthropods flying up to the Leviathan, they probably belong to the parasite category, they all have needle-like mouths, trying to drill holes in the carapace or find gaps, but they quickly become food for the little scorpions.
The desert scorpion's baby scorpions stuck to Leviathan's back all the time because they didn't do anything special, and Lynn didn't care.
Lynn was now looking for a place to live, and now that the Leviathan was so large that most creatures saw it and chose to get out of the way, Lynn couldn't be sure what would happen at night.
She didn't want to be in the same situation as the night in the Pinnacle Forest, so Lin had to find a safe place to go.
The air here was filled with the cries of living creatures, but there were other sounds mixed in.
The sound of running water.
It was also important to confirm the location of the water source, and Lin walked in the direction of the sound of the water.
The deeper you go, the more peculiar the trees become, they don't grow up with two twists like the outer part of the forest, but like coral tentacles, they have quite a lot of shapes, upright, coiled, and reticulated, and these plants seem to grow in a completely random way, and it's really nice to call them 'twisted trees'.
Lynn finally saw the source of the sound of water as she crossed a twisted tree trunk in front of her.
It was a small river about two meters wide, it flowed from the depths of the forest, zigzagged all the way to the depths of the forest on the other side, there were some small creatures drinking water next to the river, and the most attractive thing was the two horses that were more than three meters long.
The river feels so narrow, it seems that there is another word for it, 'creek', is this really the source of water for the forest? If you have the chance, you have to go downstream to have a look, and I don't know if it will be connected to the sea.
Now that it's getting dark, I need to find a safe place.
Leviathan walked near the creek, and the small creatures around him ran away when they saw Leviathan approaching, but the two horses not only did not run, but raised their heads and neighed at Leviathan.
Wait a minute...... This isn't Malu.
Lynn found that these creatures resembled Ma Lu, but with fewer legs, much thicker and longer, and a slightly wider body unlike Ma Lu, and they had another name, 'centipedes'.
They were not afraid of the Leviathan, which was much larger than them, and they kept shaking their bodies and posing, as if they were ready to rush up, but Lynn ignored them, and just walked slowly beside them, stepping across the river, and walking to the other side of the river.
When the centipede saw that the Leviathan was far away, he stopped his posture and continued to drink water.
It should be fine here.
After reaching the other side of the river, Lin looked at the slowly darkening sky, and then looked at the land under her feet, which was different from the original place, the moss did not cover the ground, but was sparsely distributed everywhere, and it was appropriate to build a dwelling here, although the moss here should not be of some insect species, Nalin still thought that she should be careful not to dig them up casually.
The Leviathan dug through the dirt with its tentacles and forelimbs, and now the Leviathan had three pairs of arthropod legs, the latter two pairs were thicker for weight bearing, and the first pair was relatively slender and more functional.
It doesn't take long to dig a cave to hide, and Lynn discovers a strange thing during this time, the little scorpions all crawl down from the Leviathan and help the Leviathan dig the cave with their thick pincers.
Didn't expect them to do the same? It's interesting.
As it gets dark, Lynn quickly digs out a burrow that can house a Leviathan and some baby scorpions.
Leviathan thrust backwards into the cavern, then used the suction cups on his tentacles to glue the surrounding dirt and bury himself.
Lin seemed to be doing this for the first time, and it felt pretty good, and Lin found that the little scorpions were still digging down without stopping, because she didn't know how to stop them, and Lin didn't care.
However, Lynn still wanted to see what the forest was like at night, so she created three flyers with the ability to emit light and went outside in the dark to explore.
Flyers flew across the river, flying between the huge branches, the forest was twisted and complex, they were enough to completely block out most of the day's light, but the forest floor was covered with moss, how did they absorb the light?
As the sky darkened, Lynn noticed that the moss seemed to glow with a shimmering glow.
The flyer descended to the ground and dug up a patch of moss with his forelimbs, and Lynn noticed that there was some fine powder on it, and it was that the powder was shining, and the dimmer the light of the day, the brighter the powder became.
Could it be ......
The night is getting closer and closer, but the ground around it seems to usher in daylight, and all the mosses begin to emit white light, and they are like a galaxy, spreading out in the dark forest, instantly illuminating the entire forest in the night.
It's like translating the light source of the sky onto the ground, and although the light of moss is not as light as daylight, it is enough to illuminate the entire forest.
It's amazing...... It's no wonder that not only the twisted trees grow straight up, but also many twisted coiled in the forest, originally to receive the light of the ground.
Lynn was quite familiar with these glowing things, it was not the light of the moss itself, but ...... Crystallized detrivia.
The Flyer also has a small mouth, which can eat glowing powder into its body for analysis, and these crystals are the same as those in the sea, but the effect is completely different.
The crystals of the sea only light up during the day and are dark at night, but the crystals here shine at night and are not visible during the day.
Maybe Moss used some special method, or maybe Lynn didn't find any more secrets inside the crystal.
The crystals here are supposed to absorb light during the day, and although the trees block the direct rays of light, there is still enough light to illuminate the entire forest, and these crystals seem to have the function of storing light......
If this is used, Lynn will be able to make green carpets in various places, but Lynn doesn't know where these crystals come from.
Lynn had Leviathan dig through the dirt with his tentacles in the cavern, and in the mud, Lynn found a small amount of crystalline debris.
Maybe the crystals are hidden deep underground? But Lin doesn't have to dig it out of her way, she just needs to take it directly from the moss.
But Lynn had to make sure that the mosses weren't from some kind of Aztec or something.
In this shining night, Lin found that many creatures seen during the day were still active, on the ground, there were some reptiles about two meters in size chewing on glowing mosses, and Lin saw the centipedes she had seen before, they lay in ambush between the mosses, waiting for a moss-gnawing reptile to pass by, and then rushed up, piercing the tips of their forelimbs into the opponent's neck, and then another centipede also rushed up to cooperate with the attack, and the other reptiles suddenly scattered when they saw this, but they didn't run too far, Began to gnaw on moss again.
It seems that the moss here is not a biological species, other creatures can eat it at will, and the crystals are estimated to be excreted because they cannot be digested, and then used by the moss that grows again, and there will be no strange creatures here at night.
So, it's time for you to start acting.
Although only a small part of the forest was explored, Lynn thought it was time to identify it as a new development site.
Lynn would change her old ways, and instead of covering the green carpet like that, and let the Leviathan go out to explore, she would create more armies and take over the entire area.
