Chapter 36 Yizhou Hou Suhu
Emperor Xin was fond of drinking, so he asked the musician Juan to make new folk music for him; the treasury was full of money, and the grain in the Juqiao granary was full; he looted beautiful women among the people, built a large number of palaces and pavilions, caught a large number of wild beasts and birds, placed them in them, collected dogs, horses and novel playthings, and filled the palace; he was arrogant and disrespectful to ghosts and gods, and disrespectful to Nuwa Niangniang in "Fengshen Bang".
However, these crimes do not seem to constitute the inevitable relationship of the death of the country.
The hobby of drinking is a personal hobby; the money and grain are full, compared with the full grain warehouse during the reign of Wenjing, which is the manifestation of the strength of the country, and also reflects that a country must have strategic grain reserves, which is no problem at all; disrespect for ghosts and gods, that is, to limit the political influence of priests on the royal power, this is the inevitable trend of the early dynasty that began to be independent from the **** state to the royal power as early as the Shang King Wuyi.
And the priest class to the kings after Wu Yi, also did their best to slander the kings, Wu Yi was shocked to death by the thunder of the sky, punished by heaven, Di Xin was disrespectful to the beloved Nuwa Niangniang, but also made up by the myth of "Romance of the Gods", no matter how unwise Di Xin was, he would not do this kind of thing. The scattered story of "The Romance of the Gods" was obviously written by the priestly class who had the right to record history at the time, and the rulers of Zhou were also happy to see this happen. Later generations then added these scattered stories, and then added the stories of Buddhist characters that appeared in the Western Han Dynasty, and compiled them into a collection, which became the "Romance of the Gods" that people see today. It shows that at that time, during the Dixin period, the witch priest class, which had always occupied the upper position within the ruling class, had separated from the Shang Dynasty, and the national strength of the Shang Dynasty was further weakened due to internal struggles.
In the summer of the fifth year of Emperor Xin (BC1097), Emperor Xin began to spend a huge amount of money to build Lutai (Xingtai, which can be seen to be high), build luxurious palace gardens, and ordered Fei Zhong to supervise the construction. From Jiang Ziya's story, it can be seen that the construction of Lutai took 20 years, and the project is not yet over.
In the same year, Hao (Suiyang District, Shangqiu, Henan), the land of Longxing in the Shang Dynasty, fell a lot of dust from the sky.
The priests thought this was a bad omen, and the Lord was in danger of seizing the throne of the princes. Emperor Xin then appointed evil to monitor the civil and military officials in the court and the various vassal states, and once the princes complained about the rule of Emperor Xin, they immediately reported to Emperor Xin, and their duties were like those of the Ming Dynasty's Dongchang.
Evil came to take the opportunity to blackmail the various princes and kings, and once the princes and kings did not hand over a large amount of property, they falsely accused them of speaking ill of Emperor Xin, and once Emperor Xin decided to punish him, he might face the threat of cannon burning. As a result, the princes became more and more distant from the Shang.
In the spring of the sixth year of Emperor Xin (BC1096), Xibo Jichang carried out the ceremony of worshiping the heavens for the first time in Bi (north of Cheng, Xianyang, Shaanxi).
According to the weekly ceremony, the ritual of worshiping the Son of Heaven is divided into four seasons, which are called 礿 [yuè] in spring, 禘 in summer, taste in autumn, and 烝 in winter.
In the ninth year of Emperor Xin (BC1093), Evil Lai heard that the leader of the Su clan, Su Hu, had a woman who was extremely beautiful, so he mentioned this matter to Emperor Xin, and Emperor Xin issued a decree asking Su Hu to sacrifice his daughter, but Su Hu refused to accept it, declared independence, and never went to court. Di Xin was furious and sent a merchant army to attack the Su clan, and the Su clan was in trouble and had to sacrifice a woman to protect himself. You Su was then named the Marquis of Jizhou, the head of the princes of the Hebei region.
I have introduced the origin of the Guardian clan earlier, and now I will briefly review it:
In 1980, the children of the Kunwu clan established a feudal state in Su (Linzhang County, Hebei).
So this country with Su is also a country with its own surname, this is the origin of Yousu.
According to "The Romance of the Gods", after Su Daji entered the palace, she used the name of a fox spirit to do all kinds of acts to confuse the king. But in fact, this is the prejudice of a patriarchal society, it seems that when the king is right, he is a wise leader, and when he is mediocre, it is the fault of a favored woman in the deep palace. The woman didn't ask him to do all sorts of mediocre behavior. Therefore, as a man, you can't blame all the faults on the woman, in the final analysis, the king is responsible for his own actions.
In this year, in order to enjoy himself, when most of the common people at that time did not have enough to eat, he made wine pools, hung meat for forests, and lived a life of poverty and luxury, which made the treasury empty, caused a great waste of social resources, and aroused the indignation of the people.
In the summer and June of the tenth year of Emperor Xin (BC1092), Emperor Xin went hunting in the western suburbs of Chaoge.
In the seventeenth year of Emperor Xin (BC1085), Ji Chang sent troops to attack Zhai (Tongdi, known as Beidi in ancient times, Yaoxian County, Fuping in Shaanxi). Its people are scattered, with the country as their surname, called Di in the north and zhai in the south.
In the winter of this year, Di Xin traveled to the Qi River (near Chaoge).
The princes and the people were afraid and hated the torture of Emperor Xin.
In the first month of the spring of the 21st year of Emperor Xin (BC1081), Ji Chang understood Emperor Xin's intention to move on to himself, and decided to retreat as an advance, regardless of the opposition of the subjects of the Zhou Dynasty, and took the initiative to express to Emperor Xin that he was willing to dedicate a piece of land on the west bank of the Luo River of the Zhou Dynasty as a sign of submission, so as to implore Emperor Xin to abolish the punishment of cannon branding. The king agreed to Ji Chang's request and abolished the punishment of cannon branding, so although Ji Chang lost a piece of land, he was loved by the people and princes of the world. The princes came to pay their respects to Zhou, and Ji Chang's influence among the princes increased.
And Di Xin also felt that Ji Chang did not take his father Ji Li's death to heart in the matter of Ji Chang's land dedication, so a big stone in his heart finally landed, but he began to trust Ji Chang and left his father Di Yi's entrustment behind, and Dongyi's power could not affect the overall situation. So Di Xin began to enjoy himself under the influence of the minister Fei Zhong.
In the same year, Boyi and Shuqi came to the Zhou State and defected to the Zhou State.
The earliest country in the Qinhuangdao area was a Fang State in the Shang Dynasty 3,000 years ago - the Guzhu Kingdom. The real name of "Lone Bamboo" is "Yao Bamboo", "Yao" is the wine vessel made of bronze in the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and "Bamboo" is the bamboo slip or wooden slip used for engraving and remembering in that year. Judging from the name of this country, it is borrowed as the name of the country with two kinds of stationery used for writing, which reflects that the country has a relatively high culture.
The Guzhu Kingdom was a small state in the north located on the border of the Shang Dynasty, and its ruling area was in the eastern Hebei and western Liaoning regions. In the early days, the territory reached Tangshan City in the west, moved to Xixing Town, reached Lingyuan, Chaoyang, Laoha River in the north, Jinxi in the east, and reached Leting, Luannan, Tanghai and other places in the southwest. It is bordered by the Bohai Sea to the east, the Yan State to the west, and the Qi State to the south. It roughly included the whole of Qinhuangdao City, the eastern part of Tangshan City and the southwest of Liaoning Province, and the capital was near the current Lulong County. The Guzhu Kingdom is one of the earliest slave vassal states on the shore of the Luan River in the eastern Hebei region, which existed for more than 1,000 years (BC1677-BC660) from the founding of the country to its demise, and went through the Shang and Zhou dynasties.
