"The Great Flood came. ”

Kish 1st Dynasty

The city of Kish, located in the central part of Sumer, northeast of the ruins of Uruk, far from the riverbank. In some texts, the city of Kish is referred to as the city of Lagash or the city of Lagash. And the pronunciation is similar, the second place is almost the same, and the two are exactly the same in all dynasties in history. It should be a translation misunderstanding.

It was established around BC3800 long before the flood. Originally a Sumerian settlement, it was a religious shrine.

In 3500 BC, the earliest surviving clay tablet was unearthed at Ohaimir Heights, near the site of the city of Kish. A small stone slab was found here, the two sides of which depicted in straight lines with pictorial symbols representing various things, among which the heads, hands, feet, and linear symbols of human beings could be identified. At present, more than 2,000 hieroglyphs belonging to the Uruk culture period have been discovered, most of which are written on clay tablets. These tablets were written in the early stages of the text, mainly economic and management texts, but they also included a list of words for students to learn and practice.

As a result of the great flood, the cities along the developed two rivers were almost destroyed. Therefore, Kish was located between the two rivers far from the banks of the river, and was not directly affected by the flood, so it rose to prominence and was the most important city of Sumerian civilization after the flood.

There are temples in the city, such as the god of war, Ninuerta, and the protector of Kish, Zhapapa.

Gishur, reign: 20 years, 3474-3454 BC.

In 3474 BC, Gishur established the First Dynasty of Kish.

What happened after the flood can also be seen from the previous myths:

Only four great powers survived the flood, namely Nippur, Sulupak, Adab and Kish.

Nipur is both a religious shrine and a traditional powerhouse, having been one of the alongside Elidu before the Flood, and even more powerful after the Flood. Sulupark, on the other hand, went into decline after the flood and did nothing politically.

King Sue of Nipur, a priest by birth, relied on his national power to prepare to unify Sumer, and launched an attack on Kish, the only one who had the strength to challenge him.

King Gishur of Kish, who claimed to be blessed by Ninurta at that time, regarded himself as Ninurta and actively led the people in the defense of Nipur. Eventually defeating Nippel, Kish became the man of the moment.

At this time, the king of Adab, Azag, also came to attack Kish. The kingdom worships the goddess of the earth, or Ninhur Sag. Azag, who calls himself the son of Ann and Kai, is said to be a megalithic monster. This shows that Azag's power was huge, but he was eventually defeated by the Kish king Gishur, who then unified the Sumerian region and established the Confederation of Kish's First Dynasty.

In 3474 BC, Gishur claimed that the previous city-states had disrespected the God-granted rule of the Monarch of Elidu, and that there had been a great war between the states, so the gods sent a great flood to punish humanity for disrespecting God. This basically coincides with the biblical account.

But it claimed that it was Enril who caused the Great Flood, and that Enril had been the most important deity worshiped before the Flood, so Gishur's statement was a major blow to his prestige. The flood was seen as an enemy by the masses. The city of Nipur could no longer make a difference politically and existed only as a religious shrine. But because of this, the city was preserved and did not experience the baptism of war again. Later, the religious shrines of Nipur remained unchanged, but the Sumerians began to add Enlile to their names less, and the later Semites preferred to add his name to their names.

Kish, who led the states, rose rapidly in religious status, and by reasserting the banner of "divine authority of kings", Gishul established the First Kish Dynasty, the oldest in Sumerian history based on theocracy, which nominally commanded the Sumerian states. The Sumerian states also easily did not dare to rebel again.

Kurashina Bil-b-guchil, reigned 25 years, 3454-3429 BC.

In 3454 BC, Kurashina Piller succeeded to the throne of Kish, the second king of the First Kish Dynasty.

South Kish Leishma-, reigned 20 BC, 3429-3409 BC. Middle word: The name of the city of Kish as a surname, which is the first of its kind.

In 3429 BC, Nan Kish Leishma succeeded to the throne of Kish and was the third king of the First Kish Dynasty.

En-Tara Anna en-, reigned: 10 years, 3 months and 3 days. BC3409--3399. Prefix: Enki, or the title of the great king, and suffix: Eanna.

Anna does not mean that she is a woman. The king's real name is prefixed with the prefix Enen, the name of Enki, the protector god of Elidu, who initially represented the god and later evolved into the title of the early Sumerian kings. It is usually followed by a suffix si, which together is En Si, the common name for the king of the Sumerian city-state. Between En and West is the king's real name (first name) and god name (surname).

Later, the city-state overlord appeared, whose status was much higher than that of the ordinary king, and usually the temple of Nipur would crown the revered city-state overlord as Lugar, who would have the authority of the alliance leader. As in the case of Ensi, it is usually added with the suffix si, which together is Lugar Si, which means great king. Ana is the abbreviation of the god Eanna, which may indicate that he was born in Uruk, but more importantly, it indicates that his kingship was bestowed by Aéanna. This is in line with the Sumerian concept of divine monarchy, the same below.
