Chapter 064: Departure Today
"If it's for the lord, it's up to you. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ļ½ļ½ļ½Uļ½Eć info" Sersi said disappointedly, "but before we do, we'll have to ask Mike's opinion." ā
"If he agrees, let's leave tomorrow?" Alan quickly proposed, then looked at Duck, "Sir, can you give us three horses, and still have enough water and food?"
"No problem, but I'd suggest you leave later. Duck also stood up from the fire. He wasn't shorter than Allen, but he wasn't a big man. "For nothing else, just because Mike is the only knight who has beaten me," he said, "but he is so weak that he can't even get out of bed, and I want to fight him again in my lifetime." Even if he is blessed by the god Namu, let him rest for at least two days before he goes on his way!"
"Thank you for your kindness, sir. Alan said, thinking about something. "But now, our lord is behind bars, and all of Assyria is chasing him and the damned witch, we must find him before we ....."
"I'm sorry, Lord Allen. The red-haired wizard standing aside suddenly interjected, "I can take care of Lord Mike, if you don't mind having one more liar in the team." The boy cleared his throat, as if he had mustered up courage. "If you are willing to take me, I will guarantee with my life, and there will be no problems with Your Excellency Mike!"
"Take you?" said Allen with contempt, "Hmph, that's a good point!" he took advantage of his height as he looked down at the diminutive red-haired wizard, and after arranging his wolf-striped cloak, he paced in front of him. "Boy, why do you think I'm going to take you, just because you just crashed into a dead mouse and saved the Eridu Frontier Knights?"
"Although I am grateful to you, Lord Steven. "But I'd suggest you say something else, after all, it's better to stay in Elidu than to go to the Dragon's Blood Forest." Besides, it may be a few days before your bounty is taken. ā
"Thank you, sir. Steven turned to Dark, "Unfortunately, I'm a Nippel, and it's both a dream and a duty to follow Lord Kenny Dalton, and his lieutenants, Lord Allen and Duke Sercy, are right in front of me, like a dream....." He turned his head slightly, his eyes fell on the side of Allen's face imprinted by the firelight, and his lips trembled slightly as if he wanted to organize an impassioned oath, but in the end he didn't say anything.
"I thought you were going to swear to Wolf Stripes!" Alan smiled coldly.
Steven moved uneasily. "If ....."
"No if, the Dalton family refuses to accept the liar's oath!" said Edman, "but..... If you really want to follow Dalton, it's not entirely impossible....."
"Whatever the premise, God Namu proves!" Steven looked up suddenly, "As long as you and Duke Selci are willing to take me, I can do any rough work, including washing the underwear for the two of you!"
"Follow Dalton's first and never interrupt me. Alan glanced at the red-haired wizard with a smile, "Secondly, you must not only be responsible for Mike-sama's diet and daily life, but also learn how to farm horses, feed grass, hunt, make fires, cook, keep vigil, sharpen swords, set up tents, ......"
"You don't have to learn, I can do what you say!" Steven raised his head with confidence in his eyes.
"I'm afraid you'll have to learn the first and most important one first!" Alan warned him, then turned to Dark. "Sir," he said, "I want horses and food early tomorrow morning, and though I am penniless now, if one day the Nepur strife ceases, I will be friends with Elidu forever in the name of the wolf!"
"Decided?" Sir Duck tried to hold back, but before he could speak, he saw Alan nod. "Alright!" he nodded politely, "no matter how far you go, remember that there is a friend like me on the border of Elidu." ā
Alan smiled back and left the side hall.
As he descended the spiral staircase, Sersi followed. "Shall we go see Mike?"
"Go ahead, I want to be quiet. Alan glanced back at the red-haired wizard who was following behind Sersi, "Let Steven come with you, and by the way, ask Mike if he'd like to take this little guy with him." ā
"What about you?" said Sersi strode to stand side by side with his companion, "what are you going to do?"
Alan frowned. "Thinking about what's next," he said as he walked down the last spiral staircase, "somebody has to think about these questions, it's supposed to be Kenny's doing, and now it's all on me, damn it!"
Alan crossed the castle gates and took the courtyard promenade where he had confronted Mike at noon, then turned left and followed the trail to the Border Guard's stables.
The horse boy in the stable, a tall local, was sitting on a pile of straw and was sleepy. Alan's visit awakened him from his dream, and after confirming that the night visitor was the Commander's honored guest, Ma Tong nodded and smiled, and asked in a low voice what he was looking for.
"Borrow a horse and go to sleep, boy. Alan patted the boy on the head and walked into the stables made of wooden beams.
As soon as he entered the door, several fierce horses, which were relatively wild and difficult to find, stood up behind their ears, stretched out their legs and lifted the railing, making a very big noise, and seemed to be extremely unwelcoming to strangers. Alan picked a meek mare, saddled it, spun on the horse, clamped his legs between the horse's belly, and went west with the stars in the night.
He liked to ride horses, but nowadays, he hated riding horses, perhaps because of the hurried days he had, but for now, horseback was probably the best place to meditate.
When the wind whistled in his ears and the night view of Brugg's alley gradually receded behind him, Alan felt that the world was truly quiet. He walked along the battlements, looking up at the stars along the ancient bricks, then over the long bridge over the Unun River, listening to the icy water flowing over the rocks, then through narrow alleys and old wooden houses, and then through the boundless wilderness where they had first arrived. The road stretched out in front of him, gradually widening, stony, and grassy, and he could almost see the dragon's blood forest connected to it.
Are you there, Kenny?, he asked the silent silent night on the back of a bumpy horse.
Before he woke up from that dream, he did see Kenny in the Dragon's Blood Forest, the pool and the bushes around him.
But is it true? If so, why was Shelley dressed in fine clothes, who gave her the crown on her head, and who gave her a sad face.....
When Simu overflowed his mind, another question followed, like a whip to wake him up. What is that snow-capped mountaintop thing? Dragon? Isn't that thing dead for a thousand years?
When he came back to his senses, he found that he had ridden a long way, and after tightening the wolf-patterned cloak on his shoulders, he took hold of the reins, turned the horse's head, and threw all thoughts behind him as he galloped his horse.
