Chapter 759: Joseph Needham's Problem (Calling for a Monthly Pass)
"Zhao'er, you are also the same as Li Zhi, you only guessed the beginning......" I chuckled, holding the slender waist of a beautiful woman with one hand and said with a smile: "Actually, I have fought with Li Zhi before, this time, for the husband is for himself, this matter, on the surface, is to make the reform of the imperial examination system of the Tang Dynasty, in fact, the husband has a deeper mind in it." ”
The eyes of the two wives and concubines looked a little confused, I stood up, paced around the room, and when I reached the door, after making sure that there was no one around, I turned around and looked at these two stunning women whose hearts were all tied to me. Slowly said my thoughts: "As a husband, I have always had an idea, that is, to transform Confucianism!" ”
"Huh?!" The palace maid sister couldn't help but exclaim, and quickly covered her hand in front of the plump and pink lips, and stared at me with a smile wide in disbelief, but her eyes looked extremely resolute. Cheng Luanluan frowned slightly, and his face was also full of doubts: "Husband, why do you say such a thing, don't scare the concubine." ”
I seem extremely relaxed at this time, as soon as I say this, it seems to be like unloading a heavy burden on my heart, yes, this idea, since I began to adopt Liu Yue and others, there is already a vague concept, and the longer the time drags on, the more clear this idea becomes, as if this is the most important thing I should do when I have traveled to the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
If I had said this idea in three years, well, let alone three years, two years ago, I would definitely be regarded as a madman, and now, whether it is the guidance of national public opinion or the popularity I have in the literati world, it is not comparable to that time, although I still belong to the leader of the minority, but I also have my own foundation, in addition, Li Zhi, the prince of the Tang Dynasty, and Uncle Li, are also my supporters hidden behind the curtain, I can be 100% sure that when I start to act, the boost will definitely not be much smaller than the obstruction.
What I told Li Zhi today also shows an obvious meaning, that is, the second man of the Fang Mansion is already ready to make a big move, and at this time, he must get the secret help of their father and son, even if they don't help, at least they should acquiesce to my behavior.
To transform Confucianism, first of all, it is very important to control public opinion, and only when public opinion is on my side can I get more support and my actions be supported.
---------------------------------------------------As for why I want to transform Confucianism, this point has to start from the thousands of years of scientific and technological development history in China that I know in later generations, when in the school, our history professor mentioned more than once a perplexing puzzle, this is also a puzzle proposed by a Western barbarian scholar, I remember very well what the name of that person was. Because the puzzle he proposed has always been recognized as the "Needham problem". The puzzle that bears his name.
As we all know, China is a world-renowned ancient civilization and has had a proud and brilliant glory in science and technology. In addition to the four major inventions that have attracted the attention of the world, there are as many as 100 scientific inventions and discoveries that are ahead of the world. American scholar Robert. Temple wrote in his famous book "China, the Land of Invention": "If the Nobel Prize had been established in ancient China, the winners of the various prizes would have belonged to the Chinese without dispute." ”
However, from the middle of the 15th century onwards, China's science and technology fell into an embarrassment. According to relevant data, from the 6th century to the beginning of the 15th century, China's share of the world's major scientific and technological achievements has always been above 54 percent, but from the 15 th century it gradually declined, and by the 19 th century, it had dropped sharply to only 0.4 percent. Why China and the West have taken such a big turn in science and technology, and why there is such a big distance, is a difficult problem that Joseph Needham found inconceivable and could not solve for a long time.
Six hundred years before Westerners introduced printing to the West, the Chinese nation had already invented this technology. The Chinese people were the first to use chains to transmit power, more than 700 years ahead of Europeans, and first used the compass, and at least a little more than a world later, the rest of the world did not appear until the rest of the world. So, from the 15th century onwards, why did the highly developed civilization of the Chinese nation suddenly stop?
When I got the title of this dissertation, the first thing I considered was that invention first needed to have the ability to think individually, which is different from ordinary people's thinking and a creative and enterprising spirit.
From this, I think the key question of this puzzle is: why did the Chinese people seem to have lost their enterprising and creative spirit since the fifteenth century?
For this dissertation, I have consulted a large number of historical sources, and I have made a complete explanation of this puzzle from my own perspective. That is, during the Ming Dynasty, the Confucian system went through the vigorous development and integration of the Tang and Song dynasties, and by the time of the Southern Song Dynasty, it had formed a fixed model.
During the Southern Song Dynasty, the science of science, which inherited Confucianism, was born, and it once played a good role in the development of society at that time. Its development in speculative philosophy is undoubtedly a great progress in human history. It also had a considerable impact on the historical development of the book and Joseon. However, with the continuous development of China's feudal society, science has played an increasingly negative and even reactionary role in strengthening feudal etiquette and maintaining patriarchal law.
In particular, the Cheng-Zhu school clamored for preserving heavenly principles, destroying people's desires, and controlling the ideology of "keeping one" and "oneness", which seriously affected the germination of science and inhibited people's creative spirit.
In the end, the country's internal strife became more and more, and there were more and more hypocrites, which ossified people's thinking and eliminated the thinking of individual surnames, so that China slowly lagged behind the world. This doctrine of completely restricting the thinking of individual surnames prevailed in the Southern Song Dynasty and the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and gradually declined after the middle of the Qing Dynasty with the invasion of Western barbarians.
In this way, the Chinese nation's open-mindedness, self-confidence and continuous enterprising spirit have gradually transformed into a rule-based guide under this mode of thinking, and naturally, other voices and ideas will be stifled, so that the Chinese nation is gradually declining.
At that time, my paper was not taken seriously by the professor, and even despised and ridiculed. The old guy said that I was a young man who completely ignored Confucianism and science for the development and progress of the Chinese nation, and directly scored 25 points on my thesis.
--------------------------------------------------- Laozi wanted to re-interpret all the ideas and knowledge of Confucianism, including the written texts handed down, in a period when Confucian culture had not yet been finalized, and re-interpret it correctly and conducive to the development of the Tang Empire and the Chinese nation.
In other words, Lao Tzu wants to reform the life of Confucianism! Well, it's a bit overdone, it should be, this son, the great, wise and martial man Fang Er, wants to train the Confucian doctrines and ideas that are still in the process of growth. That's why I need Li Zhi's help, why I want to take in a large number of young intellectuals who are dissatisfied with the status quo of teaching, why I want to take in disciples to pass on my ideas.
Because now, the traditional Confucian scholars and their disciples belong to the majority, and I, and my team must belong to the minority, so I want to fight for the right to speak and argue, so why Datang Times Weekly and Datang Newspaper are firmly pinched in the palm of my hand, in order to ensure that I can have enough voice to tell more people that what my predecessors have explained may not be all right. Today, we, the young wise men who are full of enthusiasm and respect for our ancestors, will once again interpret the knowledge of our ancestors.
We can no longer let the kind of ideological system that imprisons people's minds, destroys people's individual thoughts, and kills all new things with a stick, and then jumps out to poison the Chinese nation, I want to personally strangle this kind of sprouts in the cradle, or even in the molecular state, otherwise, the great Chinese nation will still go into decline.
Therefore, I will do my best to re-analyze the ideological and cultural heritage of the Chinese nation in the light of reality and the suffering suffered by future generations, so as to form a completely formal, officially recognized and vigorously promoted interpretation.
Conditional openness to discussion and thought, this has always been the political behavior taken by Datang, under the premise of not violating the established policy, Datang has always allowed different voices to appear, which is also the reason why Datang is called the prosperous Datang. Only then will a group of intellectuals such as Li Bai and Du Fu who are worried about the country and the people, dissatisfied with the status quo, and critical of society emerge.
