Chapter 20: Prophecy
While exploring the upper areas, Rayleigh had the Puppet Knights dispersed, each led by a Dawn Knight, to clear out the trolls under the guidance of aerial units. Moments later, dozens of troll hunters were killed. At this moment, a terrible whistle was heard from the city above, and the remaining trolls jumped out of their hiding places and fled.
Reilly commanded three dragonflies to fly in the direction of the whistle, but a troll suddenly appeared in view, hiding behind a wall, a throwing gun in his hand, and blood-red eyes staring at the dragonflies in the sky. Reilly's heart moved, and he commanded the three dragon flies to evade, narrowly dodging the rapidly flying throwing guns.
Six or seven more spears flew into the air, but Reilly had already controlled the dragonflies to fly upwards for tens of meters, making it even more difficult for the trolls' spears to hit.
Reilly looked at the top of the hill and said, "Looks like these trolls have a good commander. "They are located in the area where the trolls live in the upper echelons, above them are the mansions of the High Chieftain and High Priest, and at the top are the temples and altars. The whistle came from the chieftain, and the trolls who had withdrawn from all over the place also gathered there, deliberately avoiding the sacrificial and temple areas.
The people had thought that the trolls who lived in the ruins of Jubvar had lost their minds, but the truth was not what they thought.
Richard and Reilly summoned the scattered warriors and headed for the Chieftain. Moments later, everyone saw a group of trolls fleeing into the forest hundreds of meters away.
"Richard, do you want to catch up?" asked Erin.
"Of course!" How could you let those trolls go at such a time?
"You follow me!" Reilly blessed himself with a few spells, then entered the jungle under the protection of the Dawn Knight. Although the troll hunter is like a fish in water in the forest, he can't hide the infrared vision of the dragon fly. After chasing for several kilometers, the group found the troll's camp in a valley.
As soon as Reilly stepped out of the forest, a throwing spear flew in front of him! The Knight of Dawn next to him swung his sword and parried the throwing spear.
Dozens of meters away, a troll was scorched by a bolt of lightning before he could change his position. Then, the lightning bolt jumped a few more times, sweeping away the trolls hiding nearby.
The next moment, a large number of trolls poured out of the forest and the camp and pounced on the expedition from all directions. The trolls who came out of the forest all had red hair and were unintelligent beasts. Some of the trolls in the camp have dark red hair, they are taller, stronger, and clearly less intelligent than humans.
Although besieged in unfavorable terrain, the expedition did not panic. Reilly threw a huge fireball that instantly covered a corner of the camp. A raging wave of fire erupted, and several trolls were scorched by the fire blast before they could react.
Gangde, Minotaur, Triple, and Tiramisu were like four tanks, rampage through the forest, and ordinary troll warriors couldn't even block a single blow. York unleashes a totem to bless his warriors with buffs. He is now a level 10 shaman, and the effectiveness and range of the totem have increased.
The five Knights of Dawn formed a cone formation and rushed straight to the troll camp. Several throwing guns shot out of it, but they shot them away one by one, causing no hindrance.
The camp was home to more than a dozen three-meter-tall troll berserkers, surrounded by a very skinny-looking elderly troll, a troll priest wearing a wooden mask and covered in bright colors.
Under the protection of the warriors, the Troll Priest recited a spell and cast an acid mist spell that enveloped all the Knights of the Dawn. However, all of these acid mist were blocked out of his body by the strong fighting spirit, and he failed to cause damage to the Dawning Knight.
Rayleigh unleashed a ring of ice that froze the trolls. The sturdy berserker struggled to swing his weapon, but the Troll Priest was unable to move.
After the battle, Reilly and the others searched the troll camp and found several stone tablets engraved with troll characters, both new and old, recording the history of the troll tribe.
The oldest stone tablet bears three passages:
"We managed to escape from Djubwal and came to the Valley of Rest, where the last water sources and forests remained. May the immortal forest grant us plenty of food.
Zuka no longer answers our calls, and the evil spirits have been tempting us. We must find a new Spirit, and a source of water.
Half of the forest is dead, and there is less water. We must kill those who are tempted by evil spirits and who drink the same amount of water. ”
It was a stone slab that was both materially and spiritually heavy, and Reilly could not tell how many years ago it had been created. There is very little on it, but it clearly expresses the desperation of the burner.
The second tablet is more recent and contains more content than the first:
"We have found a new Holy Spirit: the great rhinoceros god Qom! Under its will, the evil spirits have converged a lot. But there are still many people who are tempted to leave the tribe.
Under the guidance of Qom, we found a new spring. Now, the tribe finally doesn't have to kill emaciated children, but the old trolls still have to leave. ”
The stone slabs in the back still tell the history of the tribe. After being sheltered by Qom, the trolls survived the danger of extinction. They had water and were able to resist the temptation of evil spirits to a certain extent. One year later, a river was suddenly reborn and once again hung a ribbon made of water for Mother Earth!
Gradually, Jubwal regained its vitality, the forest began to revive, and the land was dressed in new green. On one of the stone slabs, a sketchy map was carved to mark the river of life.
Reilly projected a map from his memories and discovered that the river had originated in the Pale Heights, traversed the entire Jubvar region, and finally disappeared into the Bloodstained Lands.
The latest tablet was carved recently, apparently by the troll priest who had captured it earlier. He wanted to retrieve the three artifacts of the former Troll Empire, so he brought his people to Jubvar. However, all the warriors sent out never returned. So the priest established an outpost in the emirate and built the temple of Qom, intending to use Qom's power to explore all of Jubvar.
"Thousands of years of history can be condensed into a few small stone slabs. Reilly looked at Richard and said, "How do you feel?"
"It's heavy. Richard stroked the notches on the stone slab and said, "Every stroke on it embodies the power of time." ”
"And we are opening a new chapter in history. Reilly patted the latest stone tablet and said, "Let's go! we should talk to the troll priest too." ”
Reilly takes the Troll Priest to a separate room, along with Richard, Quicksand, and Erin.
"Honorable priest, I think we can talk. I have no intention of being an enemy of the trolls, but I wish I could be friends with you. If the right opportunity arises, I will be happy to help you get rid of evil spirits. So, please tell me everything you know. Reilly said this very skillfully. What does it mean to "want to be friends with you"? It means that as long as you don't pretend to be X, you can be friends, otherwise......
As for what is meant by the "right opportunity", it is, of course, the right one when Reilly thinks it is appropriate.
The Troll Priest looked up and said in a hoarse voice, "Do you want a Troll Hallow?"
"I'm interested in them, but they don't have to be my own. Reilly smiled and said, "I'd rather know what happened to Jubwal. ”
The Troll Priest was silent for a moment, then swept over Richard, Quicksand, and Erin with a strange gaze, and said, "Marauders from the Otherworld, how can I trust you?"
At this moment, all four of Reilly were shocked. Richard said solemnly, "How do you know that we are from an alien plane?"
The Troll Priest sighed and said, "It's a secret that has been passed down by word of mouth among the priests. Before the great Zuka fell into a deep sleep, he left behind his last prophecy and asked us to pass it on, but not to leave any words. The exact words of that prophecy were: 'In thousands of years, the river of life will flow again.' By that time, marauders from the Alien Plane will set foot on Jubvar. They are the source of destruction and the hope of new life. The evil spirits will be destroyed by the messengers of the dragon god, and Jubwal will finally be reborn. ’”
Richard, Quicksand, and Erin all looked at Reilly with strange expressions. The latter blinked and said, "What the hell!"
