readx; It had been five days since Fernandez left the gathering place called Peggy, during which time Peter and his party got up early every day and went to the chapel to pray, and after the prayers were finished, they followed the guidance or advice of Father Eddie and continued to help the inhabitants in the gathering place. They also knew that the tasks assigned to them by Father Eddie were simple, such as helping villagers find lost property or doing simple medical care for certain people.
The villagers of Peggy are very fond of the three of them, especially for Wren, who are simply men, women, and children. Peter often made fun of Wren for this, and Wren blushed every time but couldn't argue with anything.
Whenever this happens, Eva will look at Peter quietly with a smile on her face, thinking about her thoughts.
On this day, the three of them prayed as usual, and after finishing their prayers, they walked casually in the small gathering place. They whispered to each other as they wandered around the gathering place, ready to see if there was anyone in need.
As I walked, I somehow came to a very narrow alley. The alley looked very dark even when the sun was rising, and a not very fresh smell came from the alley. Peter stood at the entrance of the alley, not knowing what he had in mind, and was in a daze, and Eva called him several times before he heard it.
"What do you think, there's nothing to do. Eva looked at Peter worriedly.
"Oh it's fine, it's just a little distracted. Peter smiled and said to Eva that she didn't have to worry. Then he turned his head and continued to look at the alley in front of him, and he couldn't help but think of the scene in Nantes. It was also an alley similar to the one in front of him, and he slumped through the idle peasants and was struck by a little maid. A few small potatoes in the maid's hand tumbled down. In the end, the scene freezes on the running and tears of Eva and Zoya at the Althop Manor. He sighed softly in his heart, ignoring the smell in the air, and walked into the alley.
Wren and Eva looked at each other and had to follow him in, not taking many steps before they heard a staccato cry.
Peter stopped at once, and he just stood there and listened. I only heard a little girl crying in a hoarse voice not far away, and from time to time she said, "Daddy." "What a word. He ran forward in a hurry. Eva and Wren followed closely behind him.
After running a short distance, Peter heard the girl's cry coming from a dilapidated door, and he stood in front of the dilapidated wooden house, hesitated, and then went up and knocked on the door.
The crying in the room suddenly stopped, and there was no movement for a long time. Peter knocked on the door again and shouted, "Hello, do you need any help?" We are dervishes of Cromwell Abbey, please open the door if you need help. With that, he put his ear to the dilapidated door and listened.
At first, he didn't hear anything, but he was frowning and worried when he heard a shuffling sound, and then he felt the door tremble slightly. Peter quickly straightened up so that the door suddenly opened so that he did not fall over.
A little girl with big tears in her eyes bit a finger in her mouth and looked timidly at Peter Eva outside the door. She sniffed and whispered, "Are you all ascetics of the monastery?" she asked, hiding behind a door that had only opened a slit, looking at them with a big head exposed.
Peter saw this little girl, who was only about three or four years old, with huge tears rolling in her eyes. That little face naturally revealed a pitiful look, and there was an inexplicable trace of suspicion and vigilance.
He forced a very warm smile on his face, and whispered to her while laughing, "Well, we are all ascetics of the monastery. I heard the cry so came over to take a look. Do you need help, can you tell us what happened? When he had finished speaking, the little girl's eyes straightened.
The little girl blinked earnestly again and looked out through the crack in the door, and hesitated for a long time before carefully opening the dilapidated door, which was basically useless.
Peter waited until she opened the door before entering, there was not a single window in the room, and the air was very cloudy. Because there are no windows, the sun does not shine in at all, making the whole house very dark. He squinted his eyes to discern his surroundings. There was only a big bed in the house, nothing else. A thin old man lay on the bed, looking at the shadows, unconscious, unaware of their arrival.
Peter walked to the bed, a strange smell came to his face, he subconsciously frowned, and a sadness came from his heart. He turned his head to look at the little girl who was sitting on the edge of the bed, trying to talk to his father, and tears flowed down his face.
He turned around and wiped his eyes, and before he could calm down, he saw Eva sitting on the edge of the bed with the little girl in her arms. Eva teased her and wept secretly.
