The minds of sentient beings are hindered by ignorance, and enlightenment is the destruction of ignorance. ”

"How does the 'mind' of living beings work?" Su Yuan asked.

Zhiguang said: "The minds of sentient beings are divided into eight types: eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, consciousness, mana, and alayya, which are called 'mental dharma'. The mind has eight kinds of consciousness, which are the aggregation of various 'causes'. These causes come from the actions of the six human bodies of the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. At the end of the seventh consciousness, the consciousness persistently thinks that the eighth consciousness is the 'me', and the causes of the previous consciousnesses are continuously collected into various 'mental seeds' and stored in the alayya. ”

Su Yuan said: "That's right! There is a saying that the fate of a person after death is determined by the seeds in the alayya, and those who have more white seeds of good go to heaven, and those who have more black seeds of evil go to hell. To be precise, it should be: the 'heart' with many white seeds will show the heavenly appearance, and the 'heart' with many black seeds will show the hellish appearance! ”

Zhiguang said, "The last consciousness will take out the stored information of the alayas at any time, and act on the first six consciousnesses. With the endless cycle of life and death of all living beings, the 'me' at this moment is formed from the accumulation of the past to the present, and the future development of 'me' is determined by what I do at this moment. If you want to know the consequences of the afterlife, the author of this life is. 'The way the mind works creates the law of cause and effect!' ”

Su Yuan asked again: "Now that we know the principle of the minds of all beings, what are the good and evil of the minds of all beings?" ”

Eleven virtuous mental states: faith, diligence, shame, shame, no greed, no ignorance, no ignorance, lightness, no relaxation, no giving, no harm;

The six fundamental afflictions: greed, ignorance, ignorance, slowness, suspicion, and evil views;

Twenty disturbing minds: anger, hatred, annoyance, repetition, slander, flattery, sorrow, harm, jealousy, saving, no shame, no shame, no belief, slackness, indulgence, depression, distraction, loss of thought, ignorance, and distraction;

Plus four undetermined psychology of good and evil: repentance, sleep, seeking, and serving.
