(XLIV) Plan (Yuffie Steinmidz, III)
The girl slipped off the wall several meters high, sat down on the ground, and quickly got up again. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info
She moved her body for a moment, secretly glad that the food prepared for them by the Lord of Light contained the magical power of "Guardian", absorbing most of the impact and fall she received. The rest of the injuries, as well as some disturbed magic in the body, were also recovered by the body containing Ada's power in one or two breaths.
However, this was the strength of the Demon Lord - she couldn't help but worry a little, even if it wasn't fully here, would Hart really have a way to deal with it?
There is no point in thinking too much, the plan is already in place, and she must prioritize her tasks. The girl turned around, and in an instant, she constructed a secret technique in her hand, and slammed the door open. Then she spread her magical wings and rushed into the passageway, darting up the spiral staircase.
The Firedemon roared angrily, and the sound spanned most of the underground space, shaking her eardrums.
"Damn maggots!" It spread its wings, and its whole body instantly ignited with flames, "Since you still dare to show your face, don't be as lucky as last time!" ”
Despite its heavy body, the fire demon flew much faster than the maiden—crossing hundreds of meters apart, and it took less than twenty seconds to travel through it. It narrowed its eyes as it stared at the girl who was trying to climb up, a flash of fire flashing in its pupils.
The girl exclaimed in surprise and fell sharply. The fire demon flapped her wings and rushed to meet her, and with a sharp swing of the blade in her hand, her body was cut in two.
However, what flowed out of the disconnected body was a silver-white liquid, and when it touched the air, it turned into a pure white flash in an instant.
- It was a 'replica' of a bunch of grass from the Lord of Light's realm and fused with her own blood. Her power is limited, and the replicas she creates don't have the human mind and can't last long, but they're enough to fool the fire demon's perception.
The flash of light burst through the narrow passage, as if igniting a miniature sun. Fearless of the heat and lacking sufficient resistance to bright light, the Firedemon shook its head in agony, dancing into a whirlwind of whips with a screech, smashing the handrails of the spiral ladder into pieces, but unable to catch the girl's tracks.
With the help of the moment when the other party lost vision, she quickly flew to the top of the spiral staircase. The fire elementals around her were no longer chaotic, and she was once again integrated into them, free from the threat of the fire demons.
At this point, her task has been completed. Next, all she could do was trust the others and pray that luck was on their side.
The fire demon cursed and chased after him. The glare only slightly hindered its path and further irritated it. It paused for a moment at the end of the hallway, as if searching for a trace of the maiden—of course, to no avail.
So it strode along the straight corridor. Thousands of degrees of heat licked the four walls of the passage, and the rocks that had already solidified began to melt again, emitting a dim red light, as if announcing the arrival of the abyss.
Suddenly, it seemed to realize something, and jerked its head up—too late. The ceiling directly above it collapsed in its entirety, and the granite slab, which weighed nearly a hundred tons, smashed straight into the top of the fire demon's head.
It sped forward, its blade bursting with lightning in an attempt to smash the slab. However, the rocks ahead continued to collapse, eventually covering nearly half of the corridor. Heavy boulders smashed into its shoulders, knocking it to the ground.
It was Alphonse's masterpiece. The trap accurately calculated the time it took for the firedemon to pass through, and used the dissociation rays of the corroded rock to create this massive trap.
"Try this! …… I'm not responsible for the bad taste, I didn't make it anyway! ”
Jars and jars rained down from the sky, bursting with colorful flashes, ice crystals, thorns, and strange mist. The attack potion that Yuffie and the others had found before was thrown down by Amberly, making the fire demon who was trying to get up scramble.
In the next moment, a shimmering gray stream of air blew from the other end of the corridor, and the flames that enveloped the body of the fire demon immediately dimmed.
"Good morning~" Lin stuck out her tongue at the fire demon, "It's hot and dead, it's not bad to help you cool down, right?" With that, she took another breath and continued to squirt the weakened magical breath towards the other party.
However, none of this is enough to really threaten it. The fire demon rose from the rubble, turned his gaze to the blonde girl at the end of the hallway, raised his right arm, and in a deep voice, chanted a spell from the abyss.
A violent vortex of magic rolled up in the air, a powerful destructive spell, which quickly took shape at the fingertips of the fire demon-
Six tentacles that looked like giant octopuses poked out of the huge 'hole' above his head, and wrapped around the fire demon's body like lightning. Thousands of degrees of heat instantly turned the tentacles red, and flames followed, but they were far tougher than they looked, neither breaking into char nor incapacitating.
The Firedemon had to stop casting spells and swung the blade in his hand at the tentacles. It severed two of them, but the remaining four threw it upwards through the 'holes' in the two floors of the ceiling and landed in a large room.
The tentacles quickly retracted. A pale blue wall of force field emerges out of thin air, sealing the hole it has just passed through.
Directly below the fire demons, invisible to the firedemons, an intricate circle of anomalies was drawn on the ceiling. Yudina was chanting a lengthy incantation, while Eskar carefully placed six 'leaves' glowing with emerald green light in order in the circles of the circle.
The slight tremor from the space seemed to make the fire demon feel a little bad. It subconsciously raised its hand and cast the teleportation spell it was good at, but it had no effect.
- It probably forgot in a hurry that the continent's connection to the astral plane had been broken twenty years earlier.
"Bastard...... You wait for me ......! ”
The emerald shimmer flickered, and the entire space folded. The room where the fire demon was, and its final roar, completely disappeared from everyone's sight.
Yuffie and the rest of the Exploration Team breathed a sigh of relief. They returned to their palace on the ground and rested for a moment in a quieter room.
The whole process is actually anything but easy. She was on a mission to lure the enemy, and Lily, who captured the Firedemon and delivered it to the intended location, took considerable risks. No one knew if her clone would be able to fool Firefiend, if Lynn would succeed in attracting its attention, or if Lily would be able to withstand its heat as a giant octopus.
Thankfully, everything is going well now.
She gently helped Lily heal her wounds. After regaining her human form, the mercenary's arms were still charred black, and her left hand had been severed from her elbow. Today, Yuffie can regenerate limbs, but it takes a few days for her newborn arms to get used to moving as usual.
