Chapter Forty-Eight: The Dark Spirit Dispatches II
Northeast of Qingyan Town. The town of Gulo. Outskirts.
Guluo Town, like Qingyan Town, is a small town that is not very large. It's a bit farther from the border than Qingyan Town, and it's located on the edge of a small mountain range, not as empty as Qingyan Town. It may be for this reason that the war, which has not yet begun to spread, has not had much of an impact on it. Since Qingyan Town, the villages and towns closest to the border, such as Qingyan Town, were reduced to rubble by the Dark Spirit Force, and people in Guluo Town began to leave, move or flee in a direction closer to the interior. It was not until the 3rd Northwest Army established a new defensive line near the ruins around Qingyan and a series of surrounding villages and towns that the remaining residents gradually stabilized.
But because it is located in a mountainous area, it is not as convenient as Qingyan Town, with only two roads connecting to the outside world, one in the northeast and one in the southwest. The road to the southwest leads to the main roads in the province, while the small road to the northeast leads to the mountains.
Several horse-drawn carriages were driving along the mountain road. It was already late at night, and there were no other pedestrians entering the mountain on the mountain road, and naturally there was no other light source. From time to time, there were a few sharp wolf barks in the night sky that made ordinary people feel creepy after listening to them.
Each carriage had two oil lamps lit on the front. But their light was faint, illuminating only a small distance in front of them. Every driver was wearing a uniform and his eyes were shining in a variety of colors. These carriages are fully sealed, and the bodies are all made of hardwood, supplemented by steel, which are very stable, and even if they are dragged by two tall horses, they will not be crooked at all, only have a slight bump. Under the illumination of the two oil lamps, a symbol of the national emblem of the Cangling State could be faintly seen under the roof of the carriage.
Several wagons quickly ran halfway up the mountain. Halfway up the hill, there is a platform that sinks into the middle of the mountain. In the walls that sink into the interior of the mountain, there are several caves of different sizes and depths. Except for the largest cave in the middle, a large lamp hangs above each cave, and at the entrance of each cave there are many people in uniform coming in and out, moving things out and inside. There were also some of them who wore soldiers' uniforms. Dozens of soldiers in military uniforms stood on the platform, divided into several teams, directing the people inside to move here and there. Several of the officers who took the lead were also wearing armor. They didn't have any lighting in their hands or around them, but that didn't stop them from giving orders.
Several carriages stopped one after another on the mountain road near the platform. The driver of the carriage at the head leaped down from the carriage, and with his legs lightly tapped on several large protruding rocks on the mountain road, he reached the platform in a few strokes, and saluted the officers standing in the center of the platform. He is a beginner-level wind attribute spirit master who is good at light skills.
An officer walked out of the ranks and returned the salute. The coachman waved his hand, released a ball of pale green energy light the size of an apple, held it in his hand, and took a form from the pocket of his uniform and handed it to the officer.
The officer quickly finished reading the form, nodded, turned around, and beckoned to the soldiers who had just crawled out of one of the caves.
The rest of the coachmen got out of the carriage and opened the door. The doors of the carriages of these carriages were not longitudinally push-pulled, but laterally pushed-pulled. Several carriages were filled with iron boxes the size of a man's torso, each with a lock. If it's in the daytime, you can imagine how heavy it is just by looking at it.
Several soldiers lined up, walked up to the officer, saluted at the same time, and ran in the direction of several carriages.
At this moment, a bright white spherical ball of light suddenly appeared in the distance. In just a few breaths, it flew above the platform. More than a dozen black columnar spiritual power fluctuations as thick as arms erupted from the light cluster, hitting all sides of the platform at the same time, as well as directly above several caves.
"Boom—"
A loud roar rang out. The entire protruding platform collapsed in an instant, and then it fell apart, and countless pieces of rubble and blasted powder flew in all directions. All the soldiers who stayed above the platform were either killed by the spiritual power fluctuations, or fell down the mountain, letting out heart-rending screams from their mouths. Several caves began to collapse at the same time, and countless pieces of rubble fell in an instant, blocking every passage.
"Enemy attack!"
The officer who had been standing in the center of the platform suddenly rose from below the platform. His whole body was surrounded by an earthy yellow earth-attribute spiritual power wave, and he held a war hammer in his hand. Immediately afterward, more than a dozen officers and soldiers also followed him, and rose into the sky one after another.
"Run!" the officer turned his head and shouted at the driver and his companions as they flew down the mountain. The other coachmen, who were not fools, immediately turned on their horses and urged the carriage to turn around.
The spherical light cluster splits into two light clusters, one large and one small. The small light group fell towards the mountain road, while the large light group fell straight down to meet the dozen or so beginner spirit masters who had survived this series of attacks.
The two of them broke free from the small light group and landed on the mountain road one after the other, just sandwiching several carriages in the middle and blocking the way of several coachmen. The number of people in the Great Light Group on the other side was five.
All seven of them were dressed identically, all wearing the uniforms of the Solid Rock Country, but the uniforms on their bodies were all black, not the silver that was common to the Spirit Master troops of the Solid Rock Country. They all wore black masks on their faces and black gloves on their hands, and all they had their eyes and hair exposed. The strange thing is that although they released black dark attribute spiritual power fluctuations on their bodies, the edges of the spiritual power fluctuations on each person's body were glowing with a little mixed color of pale yellow and white, and they looked as if they were on fire. It was precisely because of this that the coachmen could barely see the figure of the man standing in front of them in the night sky.
"Kill!"
The officer who took the lead shouted loudly, gritted his teeth fiercely, and regardless of the consumption of his own spiritual power, he forcibly allowed himself to accelerate in mid-air, brandished a war hammer, and rushed towards the men in black.
The same goes for the remaining dozen or so spirit masters. The spirit masters with melee martial spirits such as swords all rushed up after him, and the spirit masters with long-range attacking martial spirits such as bows and crossbows forced themselves to levitate in the air and prepare to attack. The Defensive Psitron begins to unleash Defense, and the Auxiliary Psychic begins to apply support moves. For low-level spirit masters, forcibly relying on spiritual power to sprint or levitate in the air is extremely physically and spiritually demanding, and can only be done when fighting for their lives. Even fools can see that the strength of these enemies must be very strong, and only by attacking with all their strength can they be killed and survived. A distress flare had been shot out of the hands of one of the fire-type spirit masters at the back, flying high into the air. Dozens of spiritual circles flickered at the same time, and the night sky was lit up like day.
The reaction of a few drivers who were driving the car could not be said to be slow. They quickly got out of the carriage and stood back to back in a circle, releasing their martial spirits and spirit circles at the same time. They also only have two spirit circles, but the spiritual power attributes are all wind attributes, and the spiritual power of the same attribute is superimposed together, which has a very strong amplification effect, and it is hard to withstand the momentum released by the two men in black.
The five black-clothed men in the large light cluster spread out at the same time, levitating in mid-air into the shape of a five-pointed star. All five of them opened their left hands to the front at the same time and clenched their right fists. The frequency of each of them is exactly the same, and there is no mistake in the slightest. The flame-like black and yellow spiritual power fluctuations on their bodies became even more violent.
Five black and yellow rays shot out of their palms. The five rays expanded in an instant, first turning into five pillars of spiritual power, and then into five black curtains, forming a huge black spiritual power net, enveloping all the dozen or so spiritual masters in front of them. Then, the net turned into a sack without gaps, or like the big mouth of a giant beast, it swallowed the dozen or so spirit masters in front of it.
The two men in black on the mountain road also raised their palms and made a palm-forward posture in front of their chests. The palms of both of them turned completely black, as if they had disappeared into the night sky. A five-pointed star-shaped pillar of black spiritual power emerged from under the feet of the coachmen, completely enveloping their bodies.
The seven men in black opened their mouths at the same time, chanting incantations. The spell sounded strange, less like human language and more like the cry of some kind of spirit animal.
The flare that had been fired earlier suddenly fell from the sky again without warning, and fell directly down the mountain. Not only did it not explode, but it didn't even have time to emit a single light.
The spiritual power net and spiritual power pillar mixed with a little yellow vein kept flipping and writhing wildly, as if they were about to burst at any moment. Bursts of screams began to come from among them, at first slight, then louder, and then even terrible.
"Flutter!"
A cracking sound rang out. The officer with the hammer in hand and two other spirit masters with a higher cultivation level rushed out of the side of the spiritual power net and drilled out. The skin of their whole body turned an unhealthy flush and was covered in a layer of black lines. At the corners of their mouths, a trace of crimson blood flowed down each of them.
The man in black at the top of the "pentagram" suddenly rushed out, his hands into claws, and grabbed the three people who had escaped. His speed was extremely fast, and in an instant, two purple-black sharp claws had appeared on his hands and pierced through the chests of the two spirit masters. The pumpkin-sized hammer struck him in the head, but it didn't hurt him in the slightest
