Chapter 15 (Punishment)
"I thought you two would never come back. "Deklaas came home about four o'clock in the afternoon, and when he saw Lily and Lis, he said so.
Although there is no change on his face, it is still a gentle smile. But the faint glow of blood-red that flickered in his gray silver-white eyes foreshadowed his anger.
Moreover, it wasn't just the red glow that let everyone know that he was angry. The aura on his body also became more and more violent and terrifying. It makes people feel like the Grim Reaper is facing each other with a scythe raised.
"Dad... I... I know you're angry. The choice I made with my mother back then made you extremely angry. But now... The two of us don't have much to live anymore, so... Kiss you. Deklaas's aura frightened Liz, but for the sake of Lily, who was almost filled with remorse, she had to resist Deklaas's anger.
"Lily, tell me, what's wrong with him??I want you to tell me personally, did I dissipate??" Unfortunately, Deklaas ignored her, and instead came to Lily very directly, forcibly grabbed her face, and made her look at him.
"He... He... Heβ" Lily said to her three times in a row, but nothing Deklaas wanted to know. Truth be told, she had actually realized her mistake.
She knew that Deklaas loved her no less than he did for Messena. Ten years ago, she left the house with Liz and Clark only because she felt she owed Clark something. But after leaving for a while, she suddenly realized that the person she owed was not Clark, but Deklaas, who she had hurt again and again.
So she and Liz returned to this home to receive the punishment that Deklas had given her. She knew that Deklaas would not take her anger out on Lis, the child, so she was relieved and bold to return with Lis.
Now, as she thought, Deklaas didn't have any anger towards Liz. But for herself, she was wrong. Deklaas didn't torture her in any way, but instead made her write back over and over again, Clarke, bastard!!
Clark was a gambler, and Lily thought death would make him better. But how did she know that he was just using her to get some money. All of Lily's jewelry is bought by Deklaas or made by herself, even if it is sold cheaply, you can get a lot of gold coins!!
Although gambling houses and jewelry collectors were scarce during the war, Clark still found a few. At first, he sold most of Lily's jewelry on the grounds that he had no capital to do business. Lily didn't take it seriously, she just thought that Clark had really learned well.
Unfortunately, everything was just an illusion put on by Clark, and it wasn't until the third year that Lily and Clark lived together that Lily learned that Clark was not in business at all, but was gambling!! because creditors had come to the door.
If it weren't for those people who wanted to forcibly take possession of Liz, maybe Lily wouldn't have given away all the valuable things in that family. It also includes a relic left by Deklaas's mother. An azure gemstone ring.
It was the only thing Deklaas's mother had left for her daughter-in-law, not even Ire's wife, who had not received anything. In order to make her change and be kind to Deklaas. It will not let Deklaas's already miserable life go on. It's a pity that now...
"Lily, what exactly are you trying to hide??tell me, has he dissipated!!" Looking at the silent Lily, Deklaas was angry. He had completely forgiven Lily ten years ago, after all, at that time, she had really fallen in love with Deklaas. And now, this kind of fooling and betrayal is something he absolutely does not want to see!!
"He... Not yet... Dissipate... Liz and I... It was sneaked out. In the end, Lily still told the story, but she knew that this time, Clark would definitely disappear completely!
"Do you know??Lily??I was furious when I remembered that he was still alive!!!I would kill him!!!completely dissipate him!!" Deklaas grabbed Lily's chin and said in a cold tone.
Then he let Lily go, and asked Pamia Hahn to clean up Lily's room and let Lily and Liz move in. However, just as Liz and the others breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that it was all right, Deklaas suddenly said to Lily, "Follow me to the basement." I've figured out how to punish you. I think, you like it. β
After saying that, without waiting for the others to react, Deklaas went into the basement alone.
Seeing this, Liz couldn't help but immediately grab Lily's hand, who was sitting on the sofa and was about to get up and go to the basement, wanting to prevent her from going. Messna, who had never spoken, was covering her eyes with her hands, gouged out by the angry Deklaas. Although he has been pressed by Deklaas with a prosthetic eye that can see things, it is no different from the real thing. But there was a faint ache because Deklaas had looked at her when he entered the basement.
"It's fine. I came back this time to receive his punishment. But don't worry, he won't kill me..."Lily smiled at Lis, who looked worried, and then broke free of her hand and walked towards the basement.
Since then, Liz and the others have not seen Lily or Deklaas appear for a night, until the next morning, when Deklaas went to work in the workshop, everyone saw Lily with her right eye covered with gauze!!
"Are you like that too??" asked Lily, who suddenly looked into Messna's left eye as Deklaas left.
Messna didn't answer, just covered her left eye and nodded slightly. Seeing this, Lisi couldn't help but sigh heavily, and had no choice but to rest. Otos and Vivien, on the other hand, didn't understand what the two of them were talking about. After all, both of them grew up listening to the language of demons, and they can only understand a little bit of the language of orcs.
Returning to her room on the second floor, looking at the room that had not changed at all in the past ten years, Lis's heart couldn't help but flash a trace of sourness. Back then, when she knew that Deklaas was not her biological father, and that he had killed her biological father with his own hands, she couldn't help but be very angry, and in a fit of anger, she and Lily followed Clark away. Thinking about it now, she still felt that Deklaas hadn't done enough. Moreover, she discovers that it is Deklaas who really treats her as his daughter, and Clark just treats her as a gambler.
