Chapter 109: Rock Sheep and Sika Deer
Fang Ye continued to think about other animals to be introduced.
Now that there are red pandas, raccoons can also introduce a wave of little ones, these little ones are not only playful-looking, but also have interesting behaviors, washing food by the water's edge. It also allows visitors to better distinguish the difference between red pandas and raccoons.
And then there's the Predator Corridor!
Lions, leopards, bears, these kinds of beasts must be dealt with.
At present, there is only one kind of macaque, Yunnan golden snub-nosed monkey, ring-tailed lemur, and chimpanzee......
Crawler, crocodile, snake ......
But the green leaf coins seem to be a bit insufficient.
After the construction of the rainforest bird hall and the basic building, there are more than 40w green leaf coins left, if you calculate according to a pavilion of 3000 square meters of 6-8w, you can probably only build 5 or 6 large pavilions, or turn several large pavilions into some medium-sized and small pavilions, and now the zoo is expanding, of course, it is impossible to only build pavilions, but also consider new rest service areas, roads, greening!
The macaque exhibition area is still trapped, with the increase of tourists, it is not conducive to the protection of education and publicity, it must be rebuilt, plus the red fox polybreeding area, these two exhibition areas can already be determined, probably the predator corridor and another beast, the crawling area to a crocodile pond, the rest of the green leaf coins to see what else can be built.
So Fang Ye first began to design the polyculture exhibition area!
The location is behind the Rainforest Aviary, on the left side of the Circle and opposite the Predator Promenade.
On the left is a small hill bag, this mountain bag is for the red fox to live! In order to avoid the sika deer coming over and causing conflicts, there are relatively few plants on the mountain bag, but there are still some of them, and the red fox needs to be provided with shelter.
A large rock is placed on the sunny slope of the mountain, and it is very safe to use it as the entrance to the cave. A few sparse bushes, sparsely planted with large trees on the hillside.
The red fox's animal house is located in the rear, so that every time the red fox goes to explore the exhibition area, it comes out of this place, and is most familiar with this place, and when it encounters other animals frightened, it will run back, and after a period of mixed breeding, it will use this place as a safe place to live.
The right side of the exhibition area is the territory of the sika deer, and the vegetation here is relatively dense, with green grass, shrubs and trees. However, the plants in the ungulate exhibit need special consideration, as these animals eat trees! It may not take long for the trees to eat baldness.
Therefore, you can choose a tree species such as hawthorn tree that has thorns and a bitter taste, so that the animal will not eat it casually. Either that, a metal mesh is wrapped around the trunk to prevent gnawing on the bark.
There is also a kind of Benjieshi pile, where seeds are sprinkled in the soil and a bunch of dry branches are inserted outside, which looks like a hedgehog ball, so that the leaves of the plant come out of the gaps in the dead branches, and the deer can gnaw the leaves, but not the rhizomes inside, which can also play a protective role. However, there is no such thing as Benjieshidui in the construction interface, so it can only be placed after the exhibition area is built.
Hoofed animals need a certain amount of privacy, and some one-meter-high wooden or earthen walls need to be set up in the exhibition area to provide a visual barrier and reduce conflicts between individuals.
Because it is also mixed with red foxes, you can get some lodging tree trunks, and red foxes can slip away from the gaps under the trunks.
The rear is the territory of the rock sheep, in fact, compared to the rock sheep, Fang Ye wants to raise some Chinese serows.
Most people may not have heard of this name, but when it comes to its other name "four dislikes", it is familiar to everyone, the so-called horns like a deer are not deer, hooves like a cow are not a cow, the head is like a sheep is not a sheep, and the tail is like a donkey is not a donkey. Including reindeer, elk, and moose also meet this characteristic, and their nicknames are all called four dislikes.
The Chinese serow is more similar to the rock sheep, it is very good at jumping between the cliffs and rocks, and mainly lives in the broad-leaved mixed forest, coniferous forest and rocky mixed shrub forest.
However, the Chinese serow personality is very "neurotic", the stress response is strong, the head is banged against the wall at every turn, and the anger wants to attack the keeper, the difficulty of zoo breeding is very high, so there are few zoos in China, the number is very small, and it is difficult to introduce a few.
It is more difficult to mix with other animals. In case you put it in polyculture, you may get into a fight with other animals, and whoever gets injured will be in trouble.
If you want to raise serows, you need to provide them with a very quiet space that is not easy to be disturbed, so Fang Ye still retreated and chose rock sheep.
Rock sheep usually live close to bare rocks or cliffs, which can easily escape from predators.
Their best skill is rock climbing, and of course there is a rocky mountain here, and the rocky mountain is also very beautiful as a backdrop. Huge gray-brown rocks are jagged and can be climbed up by the crevices and bumps between the rocks.
The stone mountain is a rectangular and wide wall, with a maximum height of 15 meters, and is divided into several layers, similar to the Tower of Hanoi, with a certain platform between each floor as a parking space, and the slope of the upper floor is more inclined and the parking ground narrower.
The last layer is almost 70 degrees inclined, and there is a crack two or three meters wide in the middle.
In the middle of the exhibition area, a small lake of 300 square meters is placed, so that the animals have the opportunity to meet by the lake, and the red fox, sika deer and rock sheep drink water in different directions and observe each other, which is simply a picturesque scene.
Then scatter a few sheds, the sheds can provide shelter for the animals that have been displayed outdoors for a long time, when it rains and winds, the animals can go into the sheds to rest, and hang the forage under the sheds, which is not easy to get wet and mildew, and the hard ground paved with broken pebbles can provide opportunities for the sika deer to wear out their hooves. The rock sheep already has a large stone wall to grind their hooves.
On the tourist side, a section of the dry trench barrier is used, and some lodging tree trunks and stones are placed at the place where you enter the steep slope to form a warning belt, which can be seen from a distance to prevent the animals from running fast and rushing in.
Gentle slope passages are set up on the side to allow the animals to get out, and herbivores instinctively want to maintain an open field of view and do not like to enter low-lying slopes, so they do not have to worry about them going down the slope.
The bottom is paved with gravel blocks, and the weeds are usually cleaned up, and the animals are okay and not interested in staying underneath.
On the top of the trench, tourists can visit the point, put a section of bushes and guardrails. The middle point of visit is directly opposite the lake and the magnificent rock wall behind it, and has the most open view, so you can directly see the animals drinking by the lake and the rock sheep flying over the mountain wall.
The natural form of the wall and the trench barrier are mixed together, and there is no need for a glass curtain wall.
Put some more signs along the way to introduce these animals, and the polyculture exhibition area is complete.
The raccoon exhibit area is a relatively simple exhibition area, one or two hundred square meters of space is enough, and the small animal exhibit area is a little smaller, which allows visitors to observe more carefully.
Inside there are some shrubs, a few small trees, and a few perches. Raccoons are also very good at climbing trees, building nests in trees, and preferring to live near water sources and many tree cavities, avoiding open and difficult habitats to climb trees, so that they can go up trees to avoid danger when encountered.
The main thing is that there is a ten-square-meter pool of water that gives raccoons the opportunity to show off their wonderful behavior of washing their food.
