Chapter 62: The Hunting Storm (Part II)
Leaping through tall trees and grass, Rhodes walked like a fly, but the prey was always running not far away, and whenever Rhodes approached it, it accelerated strangely to widen the distance, and when Rhodes was about to give up, he slowed down and showed his looming figure to the clumsy hunter.
Rhodes felt that he was indeed a clumsy hunter, but behind him were Groscan marauders, all of them running wildly as if they were doping, chasing their prey, and they could not be made to think that their leader was a coward.
Rhodes regained his strength and ran wildly again, jumping over a stream, and the air around him suddenly fell silent. He was surprised to find that he had broken away from the army. The Norscans, left behind. By this time, the sky had gradually darkened, and the sunlight was getting thinner and thinner, and it was almost impossible to show the shadow of a person anymore.
Rod stood on crutches with his sword, panting in place. The air was quiet enough to hear his own heartbeat.
This unnerved him, and the temperature began to drop, and suddenly, a strange sound sounded from the depths of the forest, like the roar of a lion, like the long chirp of a bird. Danger caused Rhodes to hold on to his weapon again, the spear decorated with golden threads being his only ranged weapon now. Rhodes knew that he had a strong spear throwing ability, even among the Norscans, he was the best, however, this was only one chance.
He stared at the forest, then turned to look in the other direction. The sound was no longer heard, replaced by darker and darker skies and cooler temperatures.
Rhodes wanted to make a fire again, but he was afraid that the beast would take advantage of the opportunity to attack him.
Fortunately, he also has a keen sense of smell and hearing, and the bear god has given him not only powerful powers, but also these sensory abilities that surpass ordinary people.
Strangely enough, however, this prey is well hidden. Rod could only detect the clues, but he could not detect its specific location.
But one thing is for sure, this is a high-level monster.
Rhodes knew that now, he was alone, in a dilemma, retreating, could be attacked, entered, and could not find a target. He took off his cloak, took out the liquor, and took a big sip. The spear in his hand was held tighter.
Suddenly, a dark shadow swept across the sky overhead, and a terrible sound came through the air—it was the voice of a lion......
However, no lion can fly!
Just as Rhodes was thinking, the black shadow reappeared, and not far away, the grass and trees shook wildly, and the huge size and weight of the beast made the earth tremble.
"......"
He cursed loudly and raised the spear in his hand.
However, as soon as he saw the appearance of his prey, the prey pounced. It was so fast that Rod didn't even get a chance to throw a spear.
It was a manticore-tailed lion! with a lion-like body and head, but with a scorpion-like barbed tail, and strong wings!
It almost jumped at him, and before he could throw his spear, the ferocious beast roared at him, and in an instant it knocked Rhodes away.
Nearly 1.9 meters tall and as strong as an ox, Rhodes was knocked away by the manticore's terrifying force in an instant.
Rhodes fell to the ground, his face covered in mud and the surrounding darkness, and he only felt that his internal organs seemed to be shattered. The spear didn't know where it had been dropped, and a sharp pain welled up in his heart. The manticore's size is staggeringly large, it is taller and stronger than the average lion, but it has huge wings like a griffin, and at the same time, the sharp scorpion scorpion is like a poisonous sword, ready to pierce its prey.
The hunter becomes the prey. Rhodes struggled to his feet, however, the beast didn't give him a chance to fight back, and in less than a heartbeat, the terrifying beast pounced again.
This time, it opened its bloody mouth, and a whole row of jagged teeth was clearly visible. It will kill with a single blow, bite through the throat of the prey, and end the life of the prey in a cruel and bloody way.
In an instant of life and death, Rhodes subconsciously stretched out his arm to block the invasion of this beast.
With a wild roar, the manticore's sharp teeth bit into Rod's arm, a cruel and terrifying bite that could have crushed the bones of any human, however, Rod's special constitution made it impossible for the manticore to succeed. It bites through the armor on its arms, its leather armor is torn open with a gaping hole, its teeth pierce through its muscles, but it can't bite through the bones!
Rhodes let out a roar of pain, but the manticore, ignoring the human howl of pain, bit Rhodes' arm, dragging him out of place, blood gushing out of the wound like a spring.
Resisting the piercing pain, Rhodes reached out his right hand and slammed the manticore's head, and the violent counterattack caused the manticore to loosen its teeth, but it then bit down on Rod's torso and thighs.
Blood gushed out from all parts of his body, and Rhodes felt that the skin and muscles of his whole body were about to be torn apart, but under the high level of mental tension, he almost forgot the pain, and there was only one thought in his mind, how to kill this beast, if it didn't kill it, it would kill itself!
In the battle between man and beast, there is only you who lives and dies. The manticore lion dragged Rhodes' body furiously, tossing him around like garbage, and the evening forest echoed with the roars of wild beasts and the screams of humans.
Every time Rhodes tried to pull out the weapon he was carrying, he was grabbed by the manticore again and dragged away, his sharp claws like sharp swords, tearing through the leather armor and skin of Rhodes' body, leaving rows of terrible blood marks.
Rhodes was powerless to resist in front of the beast's furious force, and he could hear the sound of his muscles being torn, and the blood from his body continued to gush out, wetting every inch of skin on his body.
The manticore lion grabbed the prey and dragged it all the way, riding on the prey, unleashing its brutal blood, its bloody teeth biting through the armor again and again, tearing the flesh again and again. Rhodes felt like he was about to become his dinner.
However, in desperation, the manticore on his back stopped moving. After a frenzied outburst, the beast suddenly fell silent.
However, this fight is by no means so simply over. Although his whole body was bitten and scarred, Rhodes was still conscious, gritted his teeth and endured the pain all over his body, he knew that the fight was not over, and after becoming the beast's food, it was not over.
He looked at the stagnant water in front of him, the shallow surface of the water reflecting the appearance of the manticore lion like a mirror. Finally, Rhodes saw clearly what the beast was trying to do. The manticore pressed its front paws against Rod's shoulders, its tail cocked high behind him, and the scorpion scorpion with the poison sac was like a sharp sword, ready for assassination.
Rhodes knew that it was the Manticore's ultimate weapon, a terrifying beast that often relied on the giant spike on its tail to finish off its opponents when it couldn't bite through its prey's shell. When the power of the whole body is gathered on this spike with venom, it can even pierce any steel plate and stone.
At the critical moment, Rhodes stimulated the potential in his body, and the idea of survival coupled with the blessing of the bear god instantly poured into his body. Before the manticore could deliver the fatal blow, Rod roared and broke free from its claws......
