Chapter 49: Busy

In the original world, what Iger was trying to do was undoubtedly to grab business with the bank, which was equivalent to getting along with the state apparatus.

But in Westeros, where the economy and financial industry are almost blank slate, not to mention that there are no relevant laws at all, even if there is, with Eddard Stark as Prime Minister, the Night's Watch will definitely have the power to legally raise funds.

Iger wasn't born into economics, or more accurately, he didn't know anything about it. Fortunately, before the crossing, he often visited a forum called "Forced", where elites and storytellers coexisted, and masters and braggart habitual criminals competed, not only did he learn to make up stories quickly and shake his wit, but also did master some shallow insider and cold knowledge that ordinary people often don't know - and these come in handy now.

What he wanted to do was tear down the east wall and make up for the west wall, commonly known as a Ponzi scheme - at least until he found a way to make money, and Tyrion quickly realized this, and at first he firmly refused to participate.

But at a critical moment, he had the wit to explain to Tyrion how a much larger deception works, in a less accurate and unprofessional way, but rather in an easy-to-understand format. It doesn't matter if most people don't understand, don't want to believe, don't believe or don't believe it, but it's true: modern society does run on this huge scam of building itself with "non-existent money", and this great play of human imagination is far more important than any technology and new invention, and when everyone participates, it can't be called a hoax.

What Egg did was to use this super-scam, which was far more exaggerated than tearing down the east wall to make up for the west wall, to broaden Tyrion's horizons and increase his tolerance for his upcoming fundraising. He didn't tell Tyrion about the disastrous consequences of not playing well with Finance, he didn't know if he was right to try to bring these ideas into the world, and he didn't know if his plan would succeed in the end...... But he had to pretend to be full of confidence - if he looked skeptical and hesitant, how could he convince a feudal aristocrat who had come into contact with this knowledge for the first time?

It's not necessary to have a Lannister join, but if Tyrion is willing to cooperate, everything will go a lot better.

He also wants to take off his black clothes and return to his original world, he can't and doesn't want to be busy just raising ransom money in exchange for his freedom every day, and after thinking about it, "fundraising" is the only way he can think of to solve the financial problem once and for all.

***

Iger is really busy.

First of all, he had to go and see which two assistants the venerable Prime Minister Eddard Stark had arranged for him and where the offices were located, although both of these things could be solved with money, but at the present stage of fundraising, it was natural that he could save a little bit.

He then had to arrange for the first 'ransom' paid to him by Tyrion to be sent to the Wall.

Finally, we had to prepare for a trip to Dragonstone Island to prepare for the obsidian mining.

Things don't seem to be much, but in this era, it takes a lot of time to do anything just on the way back and forth, and when he first got free and took office, he was naturally trembling, and he didn't dare to steal it at all.

After finding a place to settle lunch, they entered the royal castle again and came to the Prime Minister's Tower. The Hand of the King was far busier than the Travelers, and they were never able to see Eddard Stark again, Yuren was taken directly to the dungeon, and Iger met with the two Stark House guards who were ordered to assist him, Oden and David.

After getting to know each other in a friendly atmosphere with two soldiers from Winterfell, Egger led them to the eastern camp of the King's Landing garrison.

Here, he met the current captain of the capital garrison, Genos Slint, a short, stocky man with a balding double chin and a lewd face.

Iger has no affection for the corrupt, traitorous guy in front of him, who betrayed Eddard Stark in the original story, and the latter apparently has little interest in a night watchman from the Wall who doesn't seem to be able to bring him the slightest bit of oil. Fortunately, this matter was ordered by the prime minister, and despite his stinky face, the captain of the garrison did not dare to obstruct or make trouble, and after nodding and greeting Egg, he casually sent a golden robe and took Iger and the other three to see the house that is now the night watchman's office.

......

The house is located opposite the gate of the capital garrison Dongying, not far from the noble district and the Red Fort, because it belongs to the garrison's property, and the location is a street with a huge flow of people, even Genos Slint, who regards wealth as his life, did not dare to rent it to others for business, so after being idle for a while, he was picked up by the night watchman who happened to find Eddard.

Honestly, Iger was happy with the results. Such a façade house near the street, and close to the security forces of King's Landing, if you want to spend your own money to rent it, you are afraid of it. Ask Eddard Stark for help, and sure enough, it's definitely quite a good idea to take care of the Night's Watch.

After looking at the house and taking the key, Egg took the two guards from Winterfell back to the inn where he was staying, and joined Tyrion as the sun began to set in the west, and they set out from the Albatross Inn to King's Landing's port and merchant gathering place near the Blackwater River to begin shopping for supplies.

After passing through Nunnery Street, Mud Street and Fishermen's Square all the way to the south, they arrived at their destination after exiting the Linhe Gate, also known as the Mud Gate.

......

The mud gate is not rotten at all, and it gets its name because the people who disembark at the port here often have mud on the soles of their feet, and the flow of people causes the roads and squares to be full of mud, and when it rains, the road conditions are as bad as walking into a swamp.

Three hundred years ago, the area was completely covered with forests, with only a few fishermen settling on the north bank of the Heishui River, where the water flows deep into the sea. It was here that Aegon the Conqueror, who later crossed the sea from Dragonstone, landed his army, and is now the most prosperous area outside the walls of King's Landing.

Dwellings, pavilions, brick warehouses, lodges and market stalls, taverns, cemeteries and brothels, one building after another, can be heard from afar, more than a hundred wharves line the waterfront, countless boats moored in the harbour, deep-water fishing boats and river rafts are endless, boatmen carry their boats to and from Blackwater Bay, and merchant ships unload goods from Braavos, Pantos and Reese.

This is Westeros' most traded port, and in order to provide space for the fishermen's square on the inside of the walls and the cargo distribution center outside the walls, the walls and gates here are the weakest points in King's Landing, which makes the nickname even more worthy of the name.

Tyrion knew almost every merchant in the harbor, and with his Lannister "little devil" mind and reputation, almost no one dared to kill him. Egger was so happy with the matter that he followed all the way, watching as the gnomes negotiated all the deals and arrangements for the ransom he had paid for him at a slightly lower cost than expected: from fixing the price, the delivery date, to hiring a ship to deliver the supplies to Donghaiwang, nothing was to be done, and his freedom for at least the next three months was gone.

The first task of the two Winterfell guards was to ensure that the supplies arrived at the East Sea on time and delivered to the Night's Watch.

As night fell, Egger found a small merchant ship that was going to Dragonstone before dark, and after paying a deposit of a few silver deer, the captain agreed to wait for him to board the ship the next day...... With all said and done, night was dark, and the second day of Egger's arrival in King's Landing passed so busy and fulfilling.
