Chapter 73: The Dinner Party
The restaurant was empty, and she was alone. Father and mother had not yet gotten up, and the maids probably did not expect her to come to the dining room so early. After all, it was still a little too early, and the faint sunlight outside the window made everything in the garden look hazy and cool.
Agnes heard a sound of footsteps, and a manservant walked in with today's newspaper, and when he saw Agnes sitting at the table, he was slightly stunned, and then bowed and asked:
"Does Miss need to eat now?"
Agnes shook her head and said, "No, I'll wait for my father and mother together." ”
The valet bowed, put the newspaper on the table, and withdrew, without saying anything more.
Agnes picked up the newspaper and flipped through it casually. Most of the news in the newspaper was something she already knew or could guess what was going to happen, after all, Aurelio would always gossip about something he had encountered while helping her father deal with things, and Agnes would always "accidentally" guess what would happen next - after all, "there is nothing new under the sun".
Agnes saw an obituary in the obituary section of the newspaper for the president of the Blacksmith Guild in Fenerport.
"Mr. Ossie Carman, President of the Blacksmith Guild of Fenerport City, has died at the age of 58."
"At eight o'clock last night, Mr. Carman committed suicide at his estate, and we mourn his passing."
"'He was a gentleman worthy of respect,' said Mr. Henry Schelling, chief craftsman of the Blacksmiths' Guild in Fenerport, 'who was always anxious about our future path.' ”
"'Whether or not I share the same opinion with him, I must admit that Mr. Carman is a capable man, and he did put the blacksmiths' guild in order before this year.' Kassim Larsson, a member of the Fenerport City Blacksmiths' Guild, had this to say about Mr. Carman. ”
"The funeral will take place next Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Church of Santa Celica. Mr. Carman's remains are expected to be cremated and returned to his hometown of Port Mores. ”
Agnes sighed slightly and put the newspaper back.
"The guild system may really be completely outlawed." Agnes's soft murmur echoed in the empty dining room for a few moments, then faded into the air without anyone hearing it.
......
With a glass of juice in hand, Agnes quietly walked out of the ballroom and onto the terrace.
This is a dinner to celebrate yesterday's success, at the home of the president of the association.
Dinner was over, the gentlemen gathered together to drink wine, while the ladies gathered in the living room to drink tea and chat.
Agnes didn't think the ladies were talking about anything interesting, and she had no desire to play for the time being, so she slipped out on the excuse that she was feeling a little hot, and blew the wind on the terrace.
"You don't look very happy." Agnes heard someone behind her say to her.
"No, you guessed it wrong, Mr. Accardo, I'm actually more than happy." Agnes didn't turn around and replied directly.
Agnes didn't need to turn around to hear that it was Trevor Accardo's voice, after all, after a month of being together, if she couldn't remember the other person's voice, then she was really sorry for her enhanced hearing.
"Perhaps, but I trust my own judgment more. At least I feel like you're in a worse mood than you were yesterday. Mr. Accardo walked up to Agnes and looked down with his glass of wine in Agnes' posture.
"It's really nice to look down from here." Mr. Accardo said with a smile.
"Mr. Accardo, I think you mean by this that you think I wasn't in a good mood yesterday either?" Agnes asked, tilting her head and smiling.
Mr. Trevor Accardo tilted his head, his green eyes looked at Agnes' smile, and he said, "Yes, I do. ”
"I was in a good mood yesterday too." Agnes turned her head and looked down.
"Actually, I thought so until I saw you through my vision......"
"You!" Agnes looked at Trevor Accardo with an angry expression.
"You see, it's like now it's clear that you're showing anger, but now I'm seeing blue as the dominant one." Mr. Accardo said with a smile.
Agnes suppressed the anger on her face, looked at Trevor Accardo, and said, "Do you know that you are actually rude and dangerous, Mr. A-Ka-Do-. ”
"I know." Trevor Accardo looked at Agnes with a smile, bent down slightly, stared into Agnes' eyes, and said, "After all, I've seen your file in the church, little Angnes. ”
"But I find that if you don't explore your mind, or some aspect of your memory, you won't be tainted by you, ——。." Trevor Accardo straightened up again, shook the red wine in his glass, and said.
"I've been watching you for a month and have come to the conclusion that you don't feel like you're a human being. Anytime you are seen visually, you can almost always see that you are in a state of thinking, and even if there is any mood swing, it will not affect your dominant blue. ”
"So, for the past month, there has been a question echoing in my mind, why did you, who are so sensible, risk your life to go to the Pavra Monastery in the first place? Obviously, you were only a Sequence 9 at the time, so it stands to reason that you would take the initiative to dodge it. ”
"There must be a very important contributing factor at work here. Let me think, is it the existence behind you? ”
Agnes took a sip of the juice in the glass, and did not answer directly, but said casually: "You chose to play these two pieces of my music just to investigate me logically?" ”
"Not really, I do like your two songs." Mr. Accardo said casually.
Agnes nodded thoughtfully, and then asked, "Did the church ask you to investigate me?" ”
Mr. Accardo shook his head and said, "I have not received an order from the Church, but I am not banned by the Church. ”
"You're worried I'm going to be a danger to ordinary people?" Agnes asked.
"No, I voted for you to let you out." Monsieur Accardo stared at the crystal clear liquor in the glass, which was shining in the light not far away, and asked, "Seeing that I have answered so many of your questions so honestly, is little Agnes now willing to tell me why I went there?" ”
