Chapter 69: The Village
In front of me is an ordinary-looking village.
For the countries of the Northern Continent, villages of this size can only be said to be commonplace. But for the Southern Continent, it is already the largest settlement in the surrounding area.
The overly dense forests did not grow here, and instead were barren grasses that were almost half a man tall. In the meadow there is a tall spindle tree in the shape of a turnip, which looks like a vase with green branches.
It stands to reason that the rainforest is not suitable for human habitation, whether it is a hot or humid climate, or a variety of wild animals and mosquitoes, it is enough to discourage most people. Even for Agnes, walking through the rainforest was a bit of a chore.
Agnes walked into the village without any hindrance, thanks to her current image as a teenager in the Southland.
It seems that a sacrifice has just been completed in the village, for unknown reasons. The man in the Rune uniform fell to the ground, sharpened stone knives stabbed into his heart with precision, blood splattered on eerie ink lines.
Agnes saw a few eight or nine-year-old children watching the people lying on the ground from afar, watching the adults busy. One boy is pale and laughed at by several other boys, as if because he has just been frightened by the murderous scene.
"When I'm old enough to rape women, I'll be able to kill people." The boy argued for himself.
"Simple, little one," the adult on one side laughed at the boy's words, and said casually, "everything will happen naturally, and of course you can become a real man." ”
A trace of inexplicable sorrow rose in Agnes's heart, and she looked away from it.
"The leader is waiting for you here." Her thoughts were interrupted by the opening of the man who led her into the village.
In front of me was a gray brick house, with no excessive color except for the blue wet marks left by the moss.
Agnes nodded, and stepped straight inside.
In the room sat a man in a loose linen coat and white trousers, wearing a straw hat with black eagle feathers stuck in it, holding a rough clay pot in his hand, and holding a wooden spoon to stir something.
The other party glanced at Agnes and didn't speak, just focused on the movements in his hands.
Agnes found a random place to sit down and looked at the furnishings in the room.
She saw a gem-encrusted skull on a wooden cabinet with a distinctly old color, its pale color obscured by pitch-black ink, looking strange and mysterious.
The tools used to dispose of the corpses were casually discarded on oily, rough-edged linen that looked to have been used not long ago, with a rolled-up shroud next to it.
"You're interested in them?" The man put down the clay pot in his hand and asked with interest.
"That's the basics, isn't it?" Agnes asked casually.
The man stared at Agnes and smiled, his smile tinged with an indescribable hideousness, and there was a palpable madness in his voice.
His hand suddenly reached for his waist, where a gun was pinned.
Agnes had vanished in place when he raised his hand, her left hand clasped around the man's neck, her blackened nails piercing into her neck, and bright red blood running down her fingers.
"Hah...... Are you ...... School...... Ha...... Target...... Adult...... "Even though the man was choked by Agnes's neck, he still smiled a little maniacally, and the words were squeezed out of the cracks little by little.
Agnes calmly threw the man away.
The man's body slammed into the wooden cabinet, and the black skull encrusted with gems fell to the ground with a "clang" sound.
The guard outside the door pushed the door in almost immediately, the gun in his hand pointed at Agnes.
"Stop! Hahaha-" The man lay on the ground and did not stand up, but clutched his neck and laughed maniacally as he shouted at the guards.
"'Crazy'?" Agnes asked the man as she slowly lowered her gun without hesitating the guard.
"I am!" The man replied in a high-pitched voice.
"Let them out." Agnes crouched down beside the man and whispered.
The man fell silent in Agnes' gaze, his hideous and crazy face tinged with a little horror.
"Let them out." Agnes repeated.
"Get out!" The man shouted.
The guard hesitated.
"Get out!" The man leaned forward and sat up, his voice sounding almost angry.
The guards almost subconsciously rushed out of the room, and the barely sturdy door was slammed to obscure the light outside the door.
"Who guided you into the extraordinary?" Agnes asked in a low voice.
"My teacher...... He ......," said the man, almost hesitantly, "that he is dead. ”
"Who taught you how to 'digest'?" Agnes continued.
"My teacher's friend." The man replied quietly.
"'Madman' is superficial and not real," Agnes whispered, looking at the man with some pity, "and losing one's mind is a means, not an end." ”
The man was a little stunned when he heard Agnes's words, but Agnes ignored the man's reaction and spoke again.
"You didn't get a promotion potion from your teacher, you got a 'friend' from your teacher?" Her last words had a tingle, almost joking, tone.
The man nodded dumbfoundedly.
"This 'friend' advocates indulgence?" Agnes spoke with a hint of affirmation.
The man was silent, unresponsive.
Agnes stood up and patted her clothes casually.
"You've joined the 'indulgence' as well." Agnes sighed slightly.
"What can I do!" The man suddenly became angry, "Temperance, temperance! ”
"Will penance allow us to defeat the invasion of Intis and Rune? Can self-control give us the power to protect our loved ones? Each full moon temperance will weaken but indulgence will win more power, you ......"
"I don't belong to the 'Rose School,' whether it's 'temperance' or 'indulgence,'" Agnes raised an eyebrow, interrupting the man's words, "I don't believe in that god. ”
The man opened his mouth and didn't say anything more.
"Of course, I really want to meet the people who belong to 'indulgence', and that's why I came to see you," Agnes smiled at the corners of her mouth, and said casually, and then her words were almost murmuring, "Whether it's 'temperance' or 'indulgence', you have to see it to know what it's like." ”
"Hopefully, you can satisfy me." Agnes bent down and stared at the man.
The man shuddered slightly at Agnes' gaze and nodded stiffly.
Angnes straightened up satisfied, turned and walked out the door.
"Be careful," Agnes said casually after a pause before pushing the door open, "Your depraved aura is almost enough to attract a powerful 'demon'. ”
