Chapter 1 The World Only I Know
Wiblen had been guarding the garden for Lord Bass for most of the month. Pen | fun | pavilion www. ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ο½ γ ο½ο½ο½ο½
The orchard was in the middle of nowhere, far from the town, next to the forest at the foot of Mount Pelory. The place was deserted, and the guards were not the sneaky countrymen, but the birds and beasts that had slipped out of the forest to steal the fruit.
But for his part, Vebron cared neither for the fruit of the garden nor for the greedy birds and beasts.
He chose to guard this remote orchard because he knew there would be an adventure in this place.
The place where the birds don't lay eggs is unknown in history, and the only reason it has left its name in history is because it is the hometown of the future adventure king, Erdiwin, and the place where his magic was enlightened.
That's a little story at the beginning of "The Sword of Eldiwin": when he was a child, Erdiwin was a literal goof, and one day he met a group of hungry forest goblins on the edge of the forest.
As in all fairy tales, good people are rewarded, and the elves repay Eldiwin for his kindness by guiding him to the old ghost of the forest to learn magic. The old ghost's life story is not simple, he was the Scaman king of the north during his lifetime, because the invasion of the dryads caused the kingdom to be destroyed and died. After his death, the king turned into a ghost and was sealed away in a cave on Mount Pelory.
The story is always true and good, but the reality is mostly the opposite.
On the surface, this is a fairy tale of Eldiwin being blessed by God for his kindness, but in fact, these elves are instructed by the old ghost to find stupid but kind-hearted people and teach them magic to help them break the seal in front of the cave.
The reason why I want to be stupid is because there is a gargoyle guarding the entrance to the cave where the old ghost is sealed, this gargoyle has two quirks, one is that he likes to catch people to play guessing games, and the other is that he likes to eat the brains of smart people.
Whenever a lost pedestrian strays into the hole, the gargoyle will first guess the riddle with the other person (its riddle is so simple), and once the pedestrian guesses correctly, the gargoyle will eat the clever person who can guess its riddle correctly.
The old ghost was not a good thing, of course, and he needed someone who could pass the test of the gargoyle and be easily enchanted by him to help him break the seal, so he instructed the forest elves to find stupid but kind people to meet him.
It has been almost fifty years since the old ghost died and he met Erdiwin, and the old ghost naturally did not find Erdiwin alone. However, the seal has not been lifted, and the old ghost is still here, so the fate of those who failed to complete the task in front of them is naturally self-evident.
Wiblen's goal was to learn magic like an old ghost, the kingdom of Scaman had fallen twenty years earlier, and Eldiwin would not be born for more than a decade, and he was in this time and place, and this was the only opportunity he could grasp at the moment.
He knew that this forest was inhabited by a group of forest elves, but the forest was so big that it was impossible for Veblen to know where the elves lived. After thinking about it, Veblen decided to wait for the elves to come to the door on their own.
This is mainly due to the fact that the elf's recipe is very peculiar, such as the dark elves only eat all kinds of gems, the ice elves only eat the rare snow orchids, and the light elves don't eat anything (this kind of goblin only has a lifespan of one day).
Forest elves are not as picky as other elves, they are very omnivorous, and they are all willing to refuse leaves, grass roots, crops, and food. But what they liked most was the sweet fruit, and the wild fruits of the forest were so sour that they were far worse than the fruits grown in the garden, and Veblen was sure that the greedy goblins would come here to steal the fruit.
With this in mind, Veblen took the initiative to help guard the fruit when it was about to ripen, but after more than half a month, the fruits in the garden were almost ripe, and there was still no trace of the goblins.
"Veblen, I have to go first!" said Lune to Veblen on the haystack.
"Let's go, don't send it!"
Wiblen didn't look back, and waved his hand.
Lune was a fellow villager who tended the orchard with Wiblen, and the two were good friends from childhood to adulthood, Lune's parents had been farmers in the countryside of Belle for generations, but he dreamed of becoming a Thurland knight.
If it was a child, it could still be said that it was a naΓ―ve love fantasy, but now Luan still hasn't given up this idea. Even in order to realize this dream, he deliberately squeezed out time in his busy daily life to do chores for Lord Bass, the free kind.
By the way, Lord Bass is a retired knight, and Lune is so attentive in the hope of gaining his appreciation and recognition, and it would be great if he could recommend himself to Thran for knight training.
So far, all of this has been of no avail, and old Bas is completely exploiting him like a silly boy.
Because of this, Wiblen often gloated and teased him, saying: Rune, you should be your peasant son, and when you have a son, you will also be a peasant doll, and you will have to dig poplars, wear wooden shoes, and wear a linen jacket. As for you, let's hurry up and help you swing your hoe.
At this time, Lune's face was flushed with amusement, but he couldn't refute anything, so he could only shout: Vebrun, you are unproductive, you can only guard the big stone mill for the rest of your life, and when you Lord Lune becomes a knight, you have to ride a horse around your broken yard for one or twenty circles, so that you and your old son will come out and kowtow and make a big salute. Then I will build a house with the best mud, and I will marry the prettiest Martha in the village, and you will be envious.
The two often quarrel, but the relationship is very good, but Rune, the silly boy, looks stupid and cute, and Wiblem wishes he would have left early, for fear that he would rob him of his great opportunity.
Vebron is so stingy.
At this time, it is the time of the harvest of fruits, the bunches of purple agate-like grapes bent the branches, crystal and plump, the apples on the trees are red, like the red cheeks of a wonderful girl after being drunk, and all kinds of strange melons and fruits in the field are also ripe, and the whole orchard exudes an intoxicating fruit fragrance.
In the evening, following this enchanting scent, a group of robbers broke into the orchard.
"Good fellow!" said Veblen, "I thought I had waited in vain today!"
It was none other than the forest elves.
"Now that the audience has arrived, the next moment belongs to the actors!" Wiblen patted his cheeks, pretending to be honest and honest. He leapt down from the haystack and picked up a twig to stand up.
The elves laughed and sang unintelligible songs and flew up to Vebron, their palm-sized voices and their voices very loud.
"Hurry up, you greedy bandits!" Veblen looked very fierce, but he was handsome and did not look a bit intimidating. He waved his stick viciously, "Don't want to steal anything from here!"
"Hey, friend, friend!" said the leading elf as he flew out and spoke in human language.
"You see, we forest goblins are neither unpredictable dark goblins, nor ice goblins who dare not see people, we love nature, we love humans, we are honest and trustworthy, we are kind to others, and we never do things that violate conscience and morality. The lead elf bragged, "By the way, what's your name?"
"Vebrun. β
"Oh, we have come with great sincerity, Veblen, and now it's not the same time it used to be, and we'll give us enough gold if we taste the fruits!" the goblin explained, seeing Veblen's look of disbelief.
"We found a treasure deep in the forest, with mountains of gold and countless jewels. β
"Oh my God, there's no gold there!"
"In the deepest part of this forest there lives an old magician. β
"Stupid, there's an old ghost trapped in it. β
"It's still an old ghost with a brain problem. β
As soon as the leading goblin finished speaking, the other goblins coaxed each other without giving face. But they spoke the language of the elves, and Veblen couldn't understand what was being said.
"Is there really that much gold?" asked Wiblen.
"Honest and kind forest elves don't lie!" The leading elf didn't blush and his heart didn't beat, but the other goblins collectively took two steps back and distanced themselves from it.
"Still no!" Wiblen thought for a moment and made a "sad" look, "It is my duty to guard the orchard, and I can't let you spoil the fruit just because of the gold." β
"Oh my God, how much fruit can't be bought with gold? β
"Stupid, his brain is as bad as the old ghost!"
"But we don't have gold. β
"Stupid, that's not the point!"
But he's rarely very trustworthy. β
"Hmmβstupid but trustworthy," the goblins collectively looked at the lead goblin, "it's him, forty-seven unlucky bastard!"
After finding the right candidate, it seemed that the delicious fruit was not so tempting, and the leading elf explained "everything" to Veblen, saying that the old ghost wanted to find a suitable disciple to teach magic.
After speaking, they waited calmly for Vebrun's affirmative answer, they were so confident, this was the magic of the noble privilege, and no commoner in the whole Aldrich could refuse such a great good thing.
Sure enough, Wiblen agreed to their invitation after a little "thought", and the leading elves led the way, and Wiblen followed the group of elves, climbed two hills, climbed two more hills, and then waded through a shallow stream, and followed the swaying willows by the stream to the edge of the forest.
After entering the forest, there is a large pine forest, and the pine trees that have been basking in the sun for a day give off a lazy smell. There was a flat path in the woods, which should have been walked by the hunters and loggers of the town for many years.
But as he went deeper and deeper, the path came to an abrupt end, and Veblen had to grope his way through the grass and thorns, and after a while he was covered with thorny balls, and watching the elves flapping their wings and walking unhindered, Veblen was all kinds of envy.
As he walked into the center of the forest, the pine forest was gradually replaced by beech and oak trees, and it was only then that he realized that it was completely dark. Looking around, the oak trees around him were like huge hats covering the moonlight overhead, and the surrounding area was black and hemp, and the only thing he could see was the shining wings of the elves.
"Haven't you arrived yet?" asked Wiblen in a low voice, the forest at night always felt dangerous.
"Soon, a little further ahead!" said the elves, but Vebron followed for a long time until he was out of the oak forest.
Veblen looked far away, and in front of him was the majestic peaks of the Pelorey Mountains, and when he saw the moon on the mountain covered half of his face by dark clouds like broken cotton wool, Veblen realized that it was already late at night, and he was now hungry and sleepy, and he really couldn't walk, but at this time the elves finally stopped.
"Here we are, here it is. The goblins shouted with joy.
Veblen looked at the smooth stone wall in front of him, and there was a black hole under the stone wall, and as soon as Veblen leaned forward to look more closely, he saw a pair of blood-red eyes suddenly appear from the hole, like two large lanterns.
At this moment the clouds blew away, and the clear moonlight shone into the forest, and Vebron saw the huge gargoyle crouched on the stone wall, black and hairless, and a pair of bat-like wings wider than two of him.
Underneath the entrance of the cave were layers of deep white bones, some of which were rotten, and some of which were still fresh with shredded flesh sticking to them. Vebron estimated that these would be the fate of failing to pass the Gargoyle test, but those who passed the test and failed to break the seal so that they would die at the hands of the old ghost would never be less than this.
The gargoyle flapped its wings and held Veblen in its huge claws, and the elves screamed and scattered when they saw this.
"Look, the little mice are so cute!" said the gargoyle, "but it's too boring to eat all at once, and I don't know how long it will take to wait for the next unlucky one, so let's guess the riddle as foreplay." β
"Listen, big mouse, if you can answer the three riddles that are right to me, I'll let you go. β
If you guess correctly, you won't be able to leave, you'll be eaten!
Besides, I don't want to leave!
Vebron muttered to himself, but on the surface he nodded like garlic, pretending to be very afraid. The gargoyle riddle is not only simple, but also very naΓ―ve, and it is difficult to guess it, but it must be guessed wrong.
"Then I'm going to ask, listen, little mouse. The gargoyle smiled and said, "This thing grows in the ground, is full of gold, and has a round body, and people like it." β
"It's gold!" cried Vebrun.
"Stupid, it's a potato!" the gargoyle flapped its wings, looking very angry. "Ignorant people should not live in the world, listen to the little mouse, if you answer the next riddle incorrectly, I will consider whether to eat you immediately!"
"The body is long and long, the flowers are yellow and yellow, the face is like the sun, and the seeds are fragrant and fragrant. β
"I know, it's a flower made of gold. Vebron said cutely, but his heart blossomed.
"It's stupid, it's a sunflower, a sunflower!" cried the gargoyle, which jumped up and circled in the sky for a few moments before falling, two pairs of blood-red eyes staring at Veblen as if they were on fire.
Big brother, your expression is too obvious, everyone can guess that the answer is correct, and there will be a real problem.
"You have one last chance, and if you still can't guess, it's my dinner. β
"He was not a god, he was not a demon, and because of it the kingdom was destroyed and the city was scorched to earth. β
"This riddle is a bit of a level," Wiblen shook his finger, "People are born for profit, and it is not the demons or gods that can bring about the destruction of the kingdom, and the scorched earth of the city is not the demons or gods, but the human beings themselves who chase profits, so the riddle is-"
The gargoyle was stunned, its eyes wide and it stared nervously at Veblen.
"That's right, it's gold!"
"Wrong, wrong, stupid!" the gargoyle screamed in pain, and it stretched out its claws to grip Veblen, frightening Veblen into thinking that he had carried away and acted too much to annoy the other party, but his body was thrown into the hole.
There was the whistling of the wind in his ears, and after a moment of darkness, Wiblen fell to the ground with a star. After getting used to it, a miserable white figure suddenly appeared in front of him.
"Welcome, lucky traveler!"
