The saying that the Buddha is the Tao is not just nonsense.

It was only later that people gradually called the path of cultivating Buddha Zen and the path of cultivating truth as the way, thus classifying all the world's cultivation into these two types.

The origin of the Buddha is quite interesting in the secular world on earth.

The Buddha has talked about more than 300 sutras, said the Dharma for 49 years, and the 12 scriptures of the Three Tibets are boundless, but these countless words are not directly related to the origin of Zen Buddhism.

Legend has it that one day, the Buddha at the Lingshan meeting, sat on the throne and held up a flower to show the public, at that time everyone did not know why, only the Buddha smiled, the Buddha said at that time: "I have the Dharma eye hidden, Nirvana wonderful mind, reality without appearance, subtle Dharma, pay the Mahakasya." The Buddha then gave the Dharma to the Mahakaya, and Zen Buddhism began to be passed down.

Indian Zen masters have been passed down from generation to generation, and the twenty-eighth ancestor Bodhidharma came to China. It was the reign of Emperor Wu of Liang in the Southern Dynasty. Emperor Wu of Liang believed in Buddhism and once sacrificed himself three times in Tongtai Temple to give alms to the monks of the world. Building bridges and temples, according to the eyes of ordinary people, is really immeasurable. When Patriarch Bodhidharma met Emperor Wu of Liang, Emperor Wu of Liang asked him, "Are there any merits in these Buddhist undertakings that I have done?"

Patriarch Bodhidharma said, "There is no merit. ”

Emperor Wu of Liang was poured a basin of cold water, thinking to himself that I have worked so hard, how can I have no merit? Therefore, he replied to Patriarch Bodhidharma. Not satisfied.

In fact, from a deeper level, what Emperor Wu of Liang got was only the retribution of human heaven. It should be merit, not merit. From the standpoint of Zen, what Patriarch Bodhidharma said is exactly what he said from the heart. But it was not appreciated by Emperor Wu of Liang. Therefore, Bodhidharma is transferred to the face wall of Songshan Shaolin Temple.

From this passage, we can realize that Zen is subtle, and it is true that it cannot be judged by general opinions. Like Emperor Wu of Liang's intentions, only seeking to be blessed for goodness, is not the ultimate goal of Zen Buddhism, even if there is gain, it is just a blessing from heaven. In the eyes of the Zen master, it has nothing to do with the path of enlightenment.

Shenguang Huike. Henan people, young proficient in world studies, in the prime of life in Longmen Xiangshan monks, after entering the Songshan Shaolin Temple, pay homage to Bodhidharma, ask for teaching, and please be a disciple of the room, Bodhidharma is not allowed, Shenguang then waited outside the door. It was a snowstorm, and after a long time, the snow was waist-deep. Bodhidharma saw that he was indeed sincere in seeking the Dharma and allowed him to enter. And said unto him, What hast thou come here to ask?'

Shenguang replied: "The disciple's heart is not at peace, and the beggar is at ease." ”

Bodhidharma shouted: "Bring your heart, I am Ru'an!"

Shenguang was stunned and said, "I can't find my heart!"

Bodhidharma actually said at this time: "I am at peace with you!"

Divine light and wisdom can suddenly be enlightened. The emptiness of afflictions, the absence of sinful karma, the extinction of the mind, and the absence of delusions and thoughts are enlightenment, which is the path of the Buddha. If you can understand the mind, the Buddha nature will be revealed at the moment.

We generally call Bodhidharma the ancestor of Chinese Zen Buddhism, and Hui Ke is the second ancestor.

Later, Hui Ke passed on the three ancestors of Monk Can, Seng Can, the fourth ancestor of Daoxin, and the fifth ancestor of Daoxin.

Shenxiu Botong Sanzang, the eldest disciple of the five ancestors Hongren, preached the scriptures and taught the Quartet, and the people at that time did not regard it as the descendants of the five ancestors. At this time, there was a Huineng from the south, whose roots were very beneficial, although he was in the land of the southern barbarians, and he was enthusiastic about seeking the law, and he did not lag behind.

When he met the Five Patriarchs, the Five Patriarchs tried him and said, 'The southerners don't have Buddha nature. 』

At that time, Huineng replied, "There are north and south of man, but how can there be north and south of Buddha nature?"

After his rebuttal, the fifth ancestor knew that this person was a Dungen caste, which was very accessible. In order to test his will, he was asked to go to the firewood room to cook rice and avoid everyone's eyes and ears for the time being.

Later, the four ancestors ordered everyone to raise a side as the basis for passing on the Fa. At this time, the public thought that the mantle was none other than Shenxiu, so no one dared to compete with him.

At that time, Shenxiu pondered day and night, and finally proposed a side:

"The body is like a Bodhi tree, and the heart is like a mirror;

Always wipe diligently, don't make dust. ”

This side, the five ancestors think that although it is good, it is still not visible. So the mantle was not passed to him.

Hui Neng learned about this in the firewood room, and thought to himself, how about I also come to present a verse? The verse goes like this:

"Bodhi has no tree, and the mirror is not a platform;

There was nothing in the first place, where to stir up dust. ”

The five ancestors saw it and knew that Huineng had already seen sex. For fear of jealousy, they were wiped away. Then go to the firewood room and knock on the door. He asked, "Is the rice ripe?"

Huineng replied: "It's ripe for a long time, just waiting for the ears to be sifted." ”

The five ancestors then knocked on the door three more times, and Huineng understood, so he went to the fifth ancestor's seat in the middle of the night and asked him to teach.

The five ancestors taught him the "Diamond Sutra", and when "there should be no place to live and his heart should be born", Huineng suddenly realized. The five patriarchs then passed on the mantle to him and ordered him to travel south to wait for the opportune time. The fifth ancestor sent it to the river and said, "The **** boat will send you." 』

Huineng said, "When you are lost, you are a teacher, and when you are enlightened, you are self-controlled. Then he went to the south to Honghua on his own, and finally became the sixth ancestor of the ancient and modern times.

From these historical records, it can be seen that the style of Zen is indeed quite unique, and the so-called "do not pass on outside the teaching, do not establish words", is really a real opportunity. However, because the purpose of Zen is not understood by everyone, it is often misunderstood. However, the wisdom of Zen is all a way to see the nature of the mind, and it is all revealed according to the nature of the person. His principle is based on the principle that all living beings have Buddha nature and that everyone can become a Buddha.

Therefore, how many people can grasp the meaning of "putting down the butcher's knife and becoming a Buddha on the ground"? Isn't Emperor Wu of Liang's wish for heavenly blessings a typical example? As for today, who can go straight to the origin of Zen?

This depends on the ambition and practice of sentient beings to seek the Dharma.

In fact, the secular is secular after all, if it is orthodox, then it is the practice world, if you ask where the Buddha is, everyone knows Lingshan Da Lei Yin Temple.

It's a pity that Lan Juechen has never entered the Da Lei Yin Temple in his previous life, he once asked Sun Wukong to take him to Lingshan for a visit, but unfortunately Sun Wukong said that he has no Buddha fate and cannot step into the realm of Lingshan, and he once said to him: "There is a Buddha in my heart, and Lingshan appears by itself." ”

The realm of the spiritual mountain?

Now that Lan Jiechen thinks about it, this spiritual mountain should not be like this divine realm, which has its own realm.

The fairy world, the Buddha world, the demon world, the underworld, the most mysterious of them is the unpredictable Buddha world, even if it is Lan Juechen's original identity, even Ying Long has never entered, let alone Lingshan.

In the universe, Buddhism is innumerable, and Buddhist disciples are all over the world.

The origin of the Buddha is not like the myths and legends of the extraordinary human world, and the origin of the Buddha has always been a mystery.

In his previous life, Lan Jiechen was a somewhat paranoid person, perhaps due to his family environment since he was a child, the more others said no, he had to do it for others to see, so Lan Jiechen spent a lot of time to meditate on Buddhism.

However, before Lan Jiechen entered this legendary Elysium, he came to this time and space that was closer to himself.

It is not useless for Lan Jiechen to spend so much experience to participate in Zen, at least now a water lotus Yi is actually impressed by him, and Zhu Xi wants Lan Jiechen to participate in Zen and discuss the Tao together.

What is Zen? Zen is natural, Zen is with nature, and Zen does not hide anything.

What is the Tao? "The clouds are in the blue sky and the water is in the bottle", "The green and verdant bamboo is nothing more than the truth, and the lush yellow flowers are all wonderful".

From the perspective of discernment, everything on the earth is a Zen machine, and before enlightenment, the mountains are mountains and the water is water; after enlightenment, the mountains are still mountains, and the water is still water. But the content of the landscape before and after is different, and the landscape after enlightenment is with me, one with me, at my disposal, one with me, and no obstacle to each other, this kind of Zen mind is so transcendent.

"Occasionally, under the pine tree, sleep on the high stones, there is no calendar in the mountains, and the cold does not know the year"; The sound of the stream is full of wide and long tongues, and the mountains are nothing more than pure bodies", looking for them anywhere, they are all Zen machines.

Ordinary people mistakenly think that the mystery of Zen machine, unfathomable, unattainable, this is the feeling of seeing Zen outside the door, in fact, Zen is originally their own scenery, not seeking outside, nature is full of everywhere, and it is easy to get.

The Buddha follows the way of heaven, and most of the cultivation of truth is against the way of heaven, and there is naturally no shortage of people who cultivate the way of nature.

"Zen" is like a clear spring in the mountains, it can wash away the dust of the soul, it is like a white cloud in the sky, let you drift in all directions, let you be free.
