51. The ship is broken
Despite knowing in advance that a storm was coming, Norris didn't know that the storm would be so big.
The rain poured down like a waterfall, converging into waves in the air in the fierce wind, and slamming down on Norris's body again and again. The inky sky rolled over as if it had been stirred by a great hand, and it was pitch black between the sea and the sky, and only the occasional drop of lightning could make Norris see the waves surging in the white world.
Like a pack of mad dogs, they pushed and barked, opening their bloody mouths around the ship, intending to swallow the ship and take it with them!
Two lone lamps, stubbornly swaying in the darkness of the night, emitting a dim light to dispel the darkness so that Norris could see the rudder.
Norris struggled to control the rudder so that it didn't get out of control. He didn't have a lot of sailing experience, and the helmsman who was originally arranged was Arthur, who had injured his waist.
"Hahaha, woohoo!" Norris laughed in the wind and waves, spitting out a mouthful of salty water. It's a lot more exciting than performing a knife fall in a circus.
The waves and thunder are even more intoxicating than the applause and cheers!
Before the storm came, Little Bucky had already entered the cabin with Arthur, who was wounded in the back, and Scar the Lion. There are enough lights hanging in the cabin, and even if the lights are shaking wildly, it does not affect the bright interior.
Little Bucky swayed with the shaking floor, and the wounded Arthur was tied to the pillar, and every movement of the ship was a blow to his waist, and at first he would scream in pain, but now he was just gritting his teeth and pale.
The lion's limbs gripped the deck firmly, its sharp claws oozing blood, and the sound of the huge waves crashing against the hull of the ship made a whimper.
"Lalala......" Little Bucky dances and sings to dispel his fears, but is scolded by Arthur.
"Stinky boy, what are you doing, you look like a clown now!"
"But Daddy, I'm the son of a clown myself!"
"Listen to Bucky! You can't be a clown! It was the most pitiful profession, and it was using its misery and antics as a laughing stock for others. ”
"That's a disgusting laugh built on other people's pain, the most disgusting smile in the world!"
"And because it's a tragic performance, they can walk away without any burden after laughing."
"Okay Dad, I'm not going to be a clown."
Bucky held Arthur's body in his hands and whispered beside him.
Outside the cabin, a huge wave more than ten meters high was surging in the air, and Norris hit the rudder with a full face towards the huge wave. Before the waves hit, he opened the wooden door behind him and hid inside.
The waves slammed down on the deck like a slap, and the mast broke, slammed heavily on the deck, and slipped into the sea in the wind and waves, becoming the drumstick of the god of the sea, striking the hull of the ship heavily.
Click...... The planks of the cabin above the waterline broke, and the broken mast pierced the hull and then lifted a large plank before being carried away by the waves. The waves rushed in through the gap, like a giant with a huge basin, and frantically poured water into the barrel, and only when it was full did he not rest.
"Daddy!" Little Bucky screamed, he didn't know what to do in the face of the raging water!
"Bucky! Give me your knife! "Arthur was sweating profusely. He untied the rope, but the knot had been pulled so tightly from the many shaking that Arthur even pulled out the blood from his fingers.
The knife that Norris had sent to Bucky Jr. to defend himself with a blade no more than a little finger was a big help, and Arthur rubbed the knot with the narrow blade, quickly cutting enough space to open the knot.
Untying the ropes, Arthur stood up, endured the sharp pain in his lower back, and ran out of the crew cabin with the help of little Bucky.
"Norris! Norris! Arthur shouted. Norris, who had regained control of the ship's rudder, heard the shouts and ran down the rickety stairs to Arthur's side.
"The crew's room has been punctured by a broken mast, but above the waterline, we need to fix it!"
"The pantry has spare canvas planks and nails!"
Little Bucky helped Arthur to the stairs and sat down, following Norris with the oil lamp to the storeroom. The pantry at this time was a terrible scene.
The food that had been sorted out jumped wildly with the wind and waves, the bright red jerky covered the floor, the salted fish came back to life and jumped in the air, the potatoes tumbled like rolling stones, and the box of wine jingle bells and nuts had broken a few bottles, and blood flowed out of the wine.
Bucky Jr. followed Norris through the jumping food, and a potato slammed into Bucky's head, hurting, but Bucky Jr. held back and didn't make a sound.
Soon they found what they were looking for, and Norris handed the oil lamp to Little Bucky and picked up the heavy canvas himself. It was undoubtedly difficult for him to hold such a heavy object, but luckily he had a sturdy Scar, and he hung the canvas on Scar's back, and then lifted the plank, causing Little Bucky to cry Scar and walk outside the locker.
"Well done, Norris, son!"
Bucky's father's encouragement made Bucky feel braver, and he strode after Norris. By this time, the crew's cabin was full of water, and if it was any longer, they would have to abandon the ship.
Norris carried the canvas all the way to the breach, and the waves still poured in from the breach. Facing the incoming waves, Norris first fixed the left and top of the gap with wooden strips and canvas, and then pulled the canvas tightly and pulled it down.
Crash! The waves and the swaying floor sent Norris tumbling into the water, and Bucky screamed as he pressed against the canvas that had been washed up and down.
"Well done, Bucky!" Norris exclaimed the seawater in his mouth. He grabbed the plank and rushed to the gap, tugging at the canvas with Bucky, fitting it to the deck and nailing it with a hammer.
Crash...... Crash...... The waves hit the canvas again and again, but Bucky remained silent against the plank.
Finally...... All four sides were boarded in place, and the waves did not break through the canvas for a while, pouring into the cabin. Norris tells Bucky Jr. to go to the storage room to get more planks to help fix it, and he guards it himself.
……………………
The terrible storm finally passed, and the ocean returned to its serene and peaceful form. Little Bucky stood on the deck, soaking up the sun, holding the rudder in one hand, holding back his sleep.
Arthur was wounded, and Norris had fought the wind and waves all night, by which time he had slept in the storage room. They didn't even have time to deal with the stagnant water in the crew room.
In the midst of this half-dream, little Bucky heard the woman's cry.
"Anyone, help me!"
An escape boat floated next to the broken ship, and a woman on board, with a nice figure and brown linen clothes, waved at Bucky.
