Chapter 536 is great again
The era of Xunzi was the era of the strong Qin and Great Chu, and the Qi State had been greatly injured under the combination of Yan, Qin, Zhao, Wei and Han before.
Lianheng is a big country with a group of small countries, and a group of small countries is an alliance of small countries. The state of Qi suffered heavy losses, while the state of Qin became the hegemon of the West for a time because of the annexation of Hanzhong and Shu.
Now all countries are facing a problem, if the Qin State succeeds, then the Qin State is dominant. If the small states join forces against the Qin state, then the Chu state will be promoted.
This leads to the problem of strengthening Qin and Chu, because now the Seven Heroes have the largest area of these two countries, and they are also the countries that are most likely to change the pattern of the Warring States.
The Qin State has also produced a siphon effect now, and many talents have studied in the Qi State Jixia Academy, but in the end they all went to the Qin State.
Xunzi is now in the sacrificial wine of the Jixia School Palace and manages the affairs of the School Palace. Now the Jixia School Palace is full of utilitarian flavor, because everyone comes to study for fame and fortune, not for learning, not for the safety of the world, but for glory and wealth.
For this situation, it is naturally impossible for the old man Xunzi to continue to agree with Mencius's theory of sexual goodness, as the master of a hundred schools of thought, he put forward the 'theory of sexual evil' in a high-profile manner.
It is also very simple to deduce the theory of sexual evil, first of all, desire and evil are the same, that is, the things that everyone likes are the same, the things that everyone hates are the same, and the standards for everyone's likes and dislikes are the same. Good food, beauty, luxury, comfort, these are all things that everyone loves. Death, old age, disease, poverty, hunger are also things that everyone hates.
However, there are many people who like beautiful things, but there are few materials and cannot meet the needs of everyone, so the world is in chaos, so from the pursuit of material desires, it can be inferred that human nature is evil.
Xunzi wrote "Non-Twelve Sons" to pull out the twelve scholars representing various schools of thought and scold them, of course, the main scolding is the deceased, scolding them for misleading people's children. Although Confucius is not included, he is not polite to Confucius's disciples, calling them 'cheap Confucian', which is not an adjective, but a verb. It is not that the disciples of Confucius were lowly Confucian scholars, but that they were scolded for making Confucianism inferior.
Since Confucius's disciples and grandchildren made Confucianism humble, how can Confucianism be great again? Naturally, I want to listen to Xunzi.
It's like Confucius said that the Spring and Autumn era was too bad, and the era of Yao Shunyu and the era of Zhou Gongdan were good. Confucius is glorious and abused the present, Xunzi is the opposite, not saying that the ancient times are good, but saying that the ancient scholars are bad, saying that they make Confucianism inferior, in fact, they are all competing for the right to interpret the good.
Xunzi's goal was to make Confucianism great again. The most direct way to put forward a point and make people accept it quickly is to scold people. Don't look at what he supports, but what he opposes, which often helps everyone understand the proposition.
It is no wonder that Confucianism is reluctant to admit that Xunzi is a Confucian scholar in the future, and it is no wonder that two of Xunzi's most famous students, Li Si and Han Feizi, are both representatives of Legalism. After all, if you admit Xunzi, you have to admit the content of Xunzi's criticism of Confucianism, then when Xunzi is a true Confucian sect, and other branches of Confucianism will become 'cheap Confucianism', who can stand this?
The final result was that Xunzi's most outstanding disciple became a Legalist, and instead of becoming the most authentic Confucian, Xunzi was almost expelled from Confucianism. After all, no one can stand their ancestor being scolded as a 'cheap Confucian', and the ancestor is a cheap Confucian, so aren't these disciples and grandchildren also cheap Confucian? To admit Xunzi is to scold yourself.
In order to prove that he was good and correct, Xunzi first criticized the previous scholars and asked everyone not to learn from them, but to learn from themselves.
"Make Confucianism great again." Yun Yao said that he was very ambitious, and Xunzi did break away from the moral consciousness of Confucius and Mencius, but first presupposed the evil of human nature, which is indeed very progressive, but the rest is all the dregs of Confucianism.
Yun Yao came to the mortal world again, this time she was alone, because she was about to go to Heavenly Court to participate in the Pan Tao Society, and the time was very tight, so the main thing was to select a group of people, and when they died, they could go to Zhucheng to study, and then participate in the Tianguan Imperial Examination.
Yun Yao came to Jixia School Palace again, although in the past, all the students in the School Palace were students who wanted to get ahead, but they were not as red as they are now, and now everyone is just for fame and fortune. Especially after many successful cases, these students are even more eager to try and unscrupulous.
When Yun Yao came, Xunzi was dealing with some fake books.
Li Si and Han Fei are also helping, including "Zhongni Says Power".
"This set of bamboo slips must have been written by someone with a heart specifically for the teacher." Li Si said: "Han Fei, you are a Korean nobleman with a large collection of books, have you ever heard of such a strange theory?" ”
Han Fei is very knowledgeable, and he has read this set of bamboo slips before: "I have read it, although it is in the name of Confucius, but it has nothing to do with gentlemen, nothing to do with morality, it is all strange and strange." And it's a conversation between Confucius and a female disciple, the content is bizarre and difficult to scrutinize, and I just use it as a pastime. The form of Chungni's Sayings, like the Analects, is also carried out through a dialogue between Confucius and his students. It's just that the Analects do not admit that Confucius had female disciples, but most of the content in "Zhongni Shuoli" is a dialogue between Confucius and female disciples, and it is dominated by female disciples, but Confucius is like a student.
"The teacher said that there are many desires and few things, so we have to clearly divide the group, but "Zhongni Shuo Li" says that everyone can be turned into princes with a technique similar to the Mohist technique, so that everyone can have endless food, endless cloth, and countless livestock. If you want more and more things, then the teacher's ideas are in danger, and I don't think the author of this fake book is bad or kind. Lees said.
Han Fei said: "It is true, but these methods are simply impossible. The Mo family, who is the best at organs, can't let people live like this, let alone the fantasy of fake books. ”
Clearly dividing the group is Xunzi's countermeasure to deal with the desire for more and less things, and 'points' here refers to identity. To make a group is to build a society. Therefore, clarifying the identity of running the society, this is actually the same as what Confucius said, but he thinks that Confucius's correct name is no longer useful, and now he should correct his name again. That's why Xunzi scolded all the disciples of Confucius, and then started all over again, and determined the social status through new etiquette.
So since everyone is a bad person, who will set up a new rite and who will be this savior? Xunzi thinks he is a gentleman.
Xunzi believes that a gentleman can rebuild etiquette, and a gentleman can release a character from the inside out through self-cultivation, and a gentleman with such a character can set up a new etiquette and push the world back on the right track.
So where does the gentleman come from? Slim down, how to slim down? Slim yourself according to etiquette. Where does that etiquette come from? Gentleman, come. Where does the gentleman come from? Etiquette comes from self-cultivation. Where does etiquette come from......
There is a problem on Xunzi's side, that is, whether there is etiquette or a gentleman first, just like the chicken or the egg first, which cannot be solved at all.
If the old etiquette can still cultivate gentlemen, then it makes no sense for Xunzi to scold the twelve sons, because these twelve sons are required of themselves according to the old etiquette. But if the old etiquette is useless, where does the new one come from? Xunzi can't answer this question, unless there is a person who is born a gentleman and does not need self-cultivation to obtain noble character, but if there is such a person, then the theory of sexual evil is untenable. Because everyone is born a bad person, how can there be a born gentleman?
