Chapter 2: Monsters that can be resurrected

The sound of the wind blowing up the sand rang in my ears, but other than that, it seemed to be eerily quiet, or the world was quiet.

Dunn looked up from a puddle of sand, and after noticing any movement, he began to slowly get up.

In fact, he had been out for a long time, and he knew that there was no sign of life activity around him, and it seemed to be a no-man's land.

So, is this an abandoned shelter and laboratory?

Keeping his composure, Dunn carried the assault rifle he brought with him and walked towards a high area, where it was necessary to climb high and look into the distance, and be familiar with the terrain.

He had learned enough lessons in his previous life, and now he could basically confirm that he would not survive that time, so this was more like a time travel, a chance to live again.

But the next moment, his expression suddenly froze.

In front of him was a ruined and depressed wilderness, and the yellow sand obscured part of the view, but in the distance, it seemed that in the ruined city, the silhouette of a huge flower towered like a skyscraper, and the petals opened like the mouth of an abyss, swallowing everything.

In addition, red orbs with tentacles on their bodies floated in mid-air, emitting a strange red light.

His eyesight seemed to have been strengthened, and further away, it was already a blurry shadow, but Dunn felt that there was something even more terrifying there.

Looking at everything in front of him, he finally understood what shelter meant. In this world, humanity seems to be withering, and the earth is ruled by a group of even more terrifying things.

The next moment, he sensed something keenly, and suddenly turned his head, and one by one indescribable strange beasts poked out of the ground, looking at him with a gloomy gaze, the interlaced fangs, a bite that could easily tear apart the body of the prey.

Their torsos were flattened, with six hands and feet propping up the ground, and most terrifyingly of all were the tails behind them, with diamond-shaped spikes at the end aimed at Dunn as if they had eyes, each the size of an adult tiger.

Such a scene is only frozen for a fraction of a second, run!

There was only one thought on Dunn's mind, and the moment he disappeared in place, a cold, spiky tail slammed into the rock he had just stood.

People are always full of fear of the unknown, and Dunn fled with all his strength, and seven or eight lizard-like and scorpion-like beasts ran on six legs, chasing after him.

After noticing that the big guys behind him had been chasing after him, Dunn regained his composure, pulled out his assault rifle from behind, quickly turned around, and fired at the monster behind him, with strong sparks coming out of the barrel.

Some of the monsters immediately stopped, and some quickly moved to dodge, but Dunn did not hesitate, and immediately turned around and retreated.

The assault rifle's attack strength only slows down the monsters, and does not deal lethal damage, which may also be due to his poor marksmanship.

In short, Dunn wasn't happy with the weapons he had in his hands, so why he wanted to build a shelter, he began to understand.

He didn't dare to run farther away, he would turn around every distance, and their pursuit was limited to a certain area, mainly because Dunn was afraid that recklessly breaking into the location area would attract more and more powerful monsters.

At the moment, he still knows nothing about the world.

Not only that, but he doesn't seem to know much about himself. For example, at this moment, he is taking the monsters in circles, it turns out that his body can run so fast?

Turning around again, he slammed a few times behind him, but the monster behind him seemed to catch the gap, and the spiked tail stabbed at Dunn like a spear.

Dunn gave up his shot and narrowly dodged the attack.

Sensing that the rifle in his hand was no longer able to help him, he frowned, and the next time he turned around, he flicked his arm and decisively threw the whole rifle at the monster before it threw its tail at him!

Boom!

What surprised Dunn happened, the monster body that could not be broken by the bullets of the assault rifle was actually beaten into a blur of flesh and blood by one of his own throwing guns, and he died on the spot?

Am I so strong? He was surprised, but it didn't stop him from dodging the monsters' next attack.

He discovered the new world, took the monsters in a small circle, retrieved his gun again, held the barrel, and threw it backwards like an axe, killing the lizard monster again.

From the first sight of the monsters, Dunn knew that the only way to survive was to kill them!

In the end, he threw his broken rifle and killed the last monster, and he gained the right to live for the time being.

He wasn't tired, but the "hunger" was a little stronger.

Walking towards the monster's corpse, Dunn took out a military dagger from his backpack and cut off a piece of monster flesh, and what surprised him happened again.

The cut flesh turned into a dense puddle of black fluid and fell to the ground.

The creature didn't seem to be the original beast of the earth in his mind, and when he crouched down to take a closer look, he noticed that the first monster to be killed moved, causing Dunn to be so frightened that he accidentally threw the assault rifle at it again.

In an instant, the monster became more blurry, and it stopped moving.

Dunn realizes that something is wrong, and these monsters will be resurrected?

He looked at the remaining corpses, and sure enough, after a while, they moved again, and they were greeted by Dunn's spear, oh no, rifle.

Then, they were lined up, and Dunn seemed to have found the same fun as whack-a-mole, who came back to life and smashed it with a single shot.

He found that the time interval between each resurrection of these monsters seemed to be getting longer and longer, and he still hadn't figured out exactly what the exact mechanism was, so he decided to continue his research.

Dissecting the body of one of the monsters, he found that they had no extra organs, just a globular glowing object. When Dunn retrieved it, the monster never came back to life, and its body turned black and fell inside, leaving only a skeleton.

As Dunn was about to take a closer look at the thing, the light from the orb quickly faded and spread towards several other monsters on the ground. It seems that by absorbing some of its substances, they seem to be coming to strength, showing signs of resurrection.

Dunn lifted his pistol and let them settle down, frowning slightly.

Not because he found them tricky, but because when the orb appeared, he felt like he wanted to "eat" it.

This made Dunn hesitate a little, he found that his current self was different from the ordinary people he originally knew, as an experimental subject, his current body may have undergone a long period of research and transformation to have the current quality, but at present, it seems that it is still very healthy.

But what are the consequences if you "eat" this luminous substance?

People will always hesitate about the unknown, maybe this is exactly the protection of themselves.
