Chapter 11: The Prisoner
Trouble after trouble. Pen, Fun, Pavilion www.biquge.info Teng Yun held his forehead in deep distress.
"That doesn't really have much to do with me, does it?" he muttered in his heart, and Jiang Xiaoxiao seemed to be ready to reach out and touch his head at any moment, giving sincere comfort.
Teng Yunshen was a little resistant to her help, for the sake of months of concealment, and for the sake of twelve years of longing. He would rather have received help from Professor Gray than from a girl of his age, an old classmate. He didn't want to face her very much. However, now he learns of the old man's unusual background......
"Imprisoned wizards?" he nodded sluggishly, as if confirming this fact later would make things easier to resolve, "What did Professor Ash do? You said he was imprisoned before you took over, how many days have passed?"
"Half a century is as long as the history of this train. Jiang Xiaoxiao answered the latter question first, a relatively simple question. "As for the reason why he was sentenced to an indefinite sentence," she blinked in embarrassment, "it's a long story. β
Teng Yun looked at the chair by the door, the comfortable chair, brand new, spotless, and could not find the traces of time flying. Fifty years have passed since the train shuttled through the night sky of the city, but it was not known.
"I'm not saying he's a bad guy," Jiang Xiaoxiao struggled to organize the language, "he just made a mistake." However, there is no doubt that he is dangerous. β
Teng Yunshen leaned back, and the wall trembled slightly, as if there were invisible bees flying around in the air. The car started, and the white curtains whipped the oncoming air current, like a big pigeon full of vitality.
"He tried to guide me," Jiang Xiaoxiao said, "to lead me to the wrong ......," she frowned slightly, "No, he just wanted to lead me in an inopportune direction." β
Teng Yunshen was quite curious: "What did he do to you? You think he is dangerous, but you don't restrict his freedom. β
He pointed to another path. Jiang Xiaoxiao thought about it seriously, "Yes, that's it...... Freely. He wanted me to be a free wizard. β
Teng Yunshen showed a confused expression: "I always thought that 'freedom' was a compliment. He noticed the girl spinning her ankle anxiously.
"Interesting subject," she said, solemnly tending the edge of her hood so that her features could be fully exposed, "and the wizards argued about it. β
Teng Yunshen asked, "What is the opposite of freedom?" The thing that the two people talked about, freedom, is a widely accepted concept. The perception of freedom did not come entirely from a small classroom, but he could still cope with it. +
"Order. Jiang Xiaoxiao replied, "What we need is a solid order." Especially after the Third World War, in the face of devastationβ"
Teng Yunshen interrupted her, "Wait." He said, "You mentioned three world wars? But as I recall, there were only two world wars." β
Jiang Xiaoxiao tilted her head, "For wizards, there have been three world wars in this century. She explained, "When mortals started a world war, there was also a great war of the same magnitude between wizards, two great wars. The wizard then started World War III before the mortals did, and ended it quickly. With this as an opportunity, the cold war between the two mortal camps also ended. After such devastation, the wizard didn't want to keep fighting. β
"Order has triumphed?"
"Yes. Order isn't a bad word, is it?"
"Normally not," Teng admitted, "but sometimes, like when it comes to freedom...... It's disturbing. β
Jiang Xiaoxiao was interested, and she stomped her foot gently. "Let's talk about this. Do you think you're free?" she pursed her lips, "I mean, if you can, rule out the fact that you've been erased, and then think about it. β
"It's okay, it's not bad. Teng Yunshen said slowly, "When there is no car on the road and the red light is on again, I will violate the traffic rules, but this is not worth advocating." It would be too immature for me to feel constrained because of this, wouldn't I?"
Jiang Xiaoxiao agreed with him: "Therefore, absolute freedom is not desirable. People are part of society and are closely related to others, and it is unrealistic to do what they want completely. On the other hand, order is the right choice, a rule that works for the vast majority of people, and makes our lives more harmonious. β
"You convinced me. Teng Yunshen pressed the soft back of the chair, "I don't see any reason to disrupt the order, rules and regulations are not the whole ...... of order."
"We don't want absolute freedom. A kind voice suddenly sounded in the back of the carriage, Teng Yunshen turned sideways and saw Professor Gray lowering the bead curtain, "It's just more freedom." β
"Together, we reviewed the importance of order," Jiang Xiaoxiao said cautiously, "and he will no longer be fooled by the superficial meaning of words." β
"I don't think so," Professor Gray said in a light-hearted tone, "and of course I don't mean the 'words' part, but the 'confusing' part. With all due respect, a pretty little girl like you is obviously more deceptive than the clichΓ©s that even a bad old man like me finds boring. β
Jiang Xiaoxiao lifted the corner of her cloak like a character in a classical drama, and saluted the old man: "You have won the award." Then, she turned back to Teng Yunshen's side, "Professor Gray's faction is fighting for the freedom of wizards. They believe that wizards should enjoy the same freedom as mortals. However, we believe that since wizards have power, they should pay a price. β
"They have brutally deprived us of our natural rights and conditioned each of us as a potential threat," he added. β
"We also check each other's boundaries. Jiang Xiaoxiao did not deny it, "The most humble wizard can easily infiltrate the bank's vault or kill hundreds or thousands of people, which is why we must be more disciplined and take precautions." Who wants a ticking time bomb to wander the streets?"
Boom. A sudden loud bang interrupted Jiang Xiaoxiao's words, and she was thrown up. Immediately afterwards, Teng Yunshen was also thrown up. He soon realizes that the train is rolling, and only Professor Gray is lucky enough to find a safe corner. He scrambled into the gap between the table and the chair.
"Catch me. Jiang Xiaoxiao said, she calmly swam towards Teng Yunshen, like a fish in the water. Teng Yun leaned against the half-open window, staring at the girl in shock, hoping that he could judge whether the current situation was normal from the other party's expression.
Looking at it, Jiang Xiaoxiao, like him, did not have any psychological preparation for this train accident.
