Chapter 81: The Mourning Hall

"Li Quansheng, the patriarch of the Li family of Chasing Yuantang, came to offer condolences!"

In the singing of the middle-aged man standing at the gate to welcome guests, Li Quansheng took Li Yichen into the gate of Wu Mansion. Li Quansheng carried a small basket woven of rattan with some coins, candles and incense in the basket. Li Yichen held a sacrificial banner in both hands and followed closely behind Li Quansheng.

Wu Huoyun and his wife's mourning hall was not located in his own newly built house, but the ancestral house near the river was arranged as a mourning hall for relatives and friends to come to mourn.

Before he stepped into the gate of the Wu Mansion, Li Yichen felt that the entire Wu Mansion was enveloped in a sad atmosphere. White cloth, white flowers, white paper, the whole house is decorated with white everywhere, even the people in the house are wearing white filial piety clothes, reflecting a pale cheeks, plus the pair of big stone lions entrenched under the steps in front of the door are also dressed in white silk flowers, all of which make people feel as if they are in a white ocean.

After Li Yichen stepped on the steps at the door, he saw that the two large stone pillars at the door that connected the eaves were tightly wrapped in white satin from top to bottom. The two vermilion gates in front of me were open, although the door was not painted white, nor was it wrapped in white cloth or the like, but on the lintel of this gate there was a huge white flower made of white satin hung on it, and under the white silk flower was a long white satin, nailed to the door frame of the gate, all of which told the world that someone in the family had died and was doing a funeral at this time.

When you enter the door, you will be greeted by a shadow wall, which is about two people tall and has been carefully polished and made of blue bricks, which isolates the scenery inside the house from the outside world. The back of the wall still retains the original color of the blue bricks, and the side facing the gate is made of lime to make a snow-white piece, and on this snow-white wall is a picture of a pine crane extending its life. This painting is from the hand of a famous artist, although it is only a few brushstrokes, but it all the vivid outline, the verdant pines, the cranes that are about to fly to build a harmonious, natural scene.

Passing through the shadow wall, you will come to the front yard. As soon as he walked into the front yard, the scenery in this courtyard gave Li Yichen a great shock.

What Li Yichen's eyes saw was the white of the garden. Although it is now the New Year, the first thunder of the New Year has not yet sounded in the sky above the Tangjiang River, and the spring breeze blowing from the east in the distance has not yet touched the land of the Tangjiang River, so now the trees in the Tangjiang River are only a few bare branches to tell people that the winter is not far away.

In the courtyard of the Wu Mansion, all the trees are luxuriant and full of flowers, but all the branches and leaves are white, and there is only one color of the blooming flowers in front of everyone's eyes, that is, a piece of white. These are all leaves made of white paper towels, tied into small flowers tied among the trees.

After passing through this sea of white flowers, Li Yichen followed Li Quansheng to the main hall where the mourning hall of Wu Huoyun and his wife was located.

Li Quansheng took Li Yichen to the long table on the right hand side in front of the mourning hall, and after signing his name with a pen on the paper on the table, the grandfather and grandson did not enter the mourning hall directly, but walked to the long table on the other side of the door of the mourning hall and handed the prayer in their hands to a middle-aged man standing behind the table.

After the middle-aged man received the ritual gift from Li Quansheng's grandfather and grandson with both hands, he sang loudly:

Li Quansheng, the patriarch of the Li family of Chaiyuantang, came to offer condolences with his eldest grandson, Li Yichen, and attached a piece of dark coin, a pair of good incense candles, and a sacrificial banner. ”

The middle-aged man's voice was very high, and the huge penetrating power transmitted his voice far away.

After the middle-aged man's voice fell, a sixty-year-old man wearing heavy filial piety walked out of the mourning hall quickly. This man is the third child of the Wu family, Wu Huoyun's younger brother Wu Qi. Walking to Li Quansheng's body before and after, Wu Qi greeted Li Quansheng's grandfather and grandson while guiding them to the mourning hall.

"Brother Quan Sheng, thank you for coming over to mourn my brother and sister-in-law and send them on their last journey! ”

As he spoke, Wu Qi's voice gradually became choked, and his eyes were red, at this time he should be holding back the sadness in his heart.

"Brother Huoyun suffered a tragic accident, and he left so suddenly, our old guys are also very sad in our hearts. Although Brother Huoyun and his wife have lost their voices, Deze still exists. I hope you can mourn and change!"

Seeing Wu Qi, a seven-foot man, enduring the pain of losing his brother in front of him, Li Quansheng didn't know what to say, so he took the other party's hand and patted the back of Wu Qi's hand to comfort him.

Following Wu Qi, Li Quansheng and the two walked into the mourning hall, walked to the mourning table and stopped.

The spiritual table is made of fine mahogany, about eight feet long, and is an eight-foot three-treasure spiritual table. In the middle of the table is a copper incense burner, which is filled with lit incense, and the misty smoke rising from the incense makes the portraits of Wu Huoyun and his wife hanging in the middle above the mourning hall a little hazy, as if they are in the clouds.

On the left and right sides of the incense burner were a white candle the size of a child's arm. The dancing flames seem to tell the story of Wu Huoyun and his wife's nostalgia for their family.

The white chrysanthemums placed in the vases on both sides of the mourning table represent the children's sorrow for their parents. The lotus lantern in front of the incense burner is the hope that the couple will be able to ascend to Elysium as soon as possible. The flickering lantern lit at the front of the left side of the mourning table is the hope that Wu Huoyun and his wife can return to visit their relatives at home.

The slaughtered pig's head, the whole chicken, and the whole fish that have been descaled are placed directly in front of the incense burner, and these three animals are placed here to worship the gods.

Next to the three animals, there are five large bowls, each of which holds some meat dishes, which are called five-flavor bowls. This five-flavor bowl and the fruit pastry next to it are in the hope that Wu Huoyun and his wife will have something to eat on the way to Elysium and not go hungry.

On the right edge of the spiritual table, a copper chime is placed, and a long-eyebrow monk is responsible for knocking, and a knock is made every once in a while, which is the sound of the copper chime, and the light on the Huangquan Road flashes, and the soul can move forward by the light.

Behind the funeral table is the coffin of Wu Huoyun and his wife, both of whom are made of 4 whole Nan wood squares, which are commonly known as the "four corners". The front of the coffin is painted with the crane deer in the stele hall, glazed tiles, two snow-white cranes fly in the sky above the hall, the hall is surrounded by green pines and cypress trees on both sides of the hall, the front of the hall is the fragrant green grass, the middle of the grass is the stone step path leading to the hall, it seems very clean and elegant, the whole picture will decorate the front of the coffin like a fairyland room. On either side of the coffin are two golden dragons chasing and teasing the orb. Around the dragon, there are also guqin, ancient paintings, plum orchids, chrysanthemums, bamboos, peach pomegranates and longevity fruits, which means "longevity mountains and blessings". Inside the coffin is a wooden board made of seven stars, called the "Seven Star Board".

The lid of the coffin has not yet been nailed, and the remains of Wu Huoyun and his wife have been placed in the coffin for relatives and friends to pay their last respects. Because Wu Huoyun and his wife suffered miserably in their sleep and did not suffer any torture, they looked very peaceful lying in the coffin at this time, as if they were still asleep.

The wall where the coffin passed was painted dark green, and the edges of the wall were dotted with small flowers tied with yellow silk cloth. In the middle of the wall hangs the portrait of Wu Huoyun and his wife with black edges, and the statue is equipped with a black gauze with a knot, and the black gauze is bisected from the middle of the upper end of the statue on both sides of the statue, and some ornaments such as holly and pine branches are arranged next to the statue, so as to set off the solemn atmosphere. On both sides of the portrait is written a pair of elegiac couplets, and below is a large "Dian" word.

The couplets sent by relatives and friends can be hung on the walls on both sides of the mourning hall. Wreaths and flower baskets are placed on both sides of the entrance, and the spirit flags are placed on the right side of the altar.

On the futon on the right side of the spiritual table, dozens of monks sit on the plate, reciting the mantra of great compassion and the mantra of the seven Buddhas to extinguish sins, surpassing the souls of the deceased, or passing away in bliss, or entering reincarnation early.

On the left side of the spiritual table is Wu Huoyun's filial son and grandson, kneeling beside him wearing linen and filial piety.

"Boring!"

The long-eyebrow arhat next to the spiritual table saw Li Quansheng's grandfather and grandson standing in front of and behind the spiritual table, and struck the copper chime on the spiritual table hard, and then opened his mouth to sing.

"Li Quansheng of the Li family of Chai Yuan Tang came to mourn, please worship and offer incense!"

After the copper chime sounded, as the arhat spoke, a man came out next to him and handed the lit ruler incense to Li Quansheng's grandfather and grandson with both hands.

Although Li Quansheng and Wu Huoyun belong to the same generation, as the saying goes, 'death first is greatest'. After Li Quansheng took the incense handed over by the man, he also knelt down on the futon in front of him, bowed three times and bowed nine times, and bowed to Wu Huoyun and his wife, wishing them to enter reincarnation as soon as possible.

Thinking that he and Wu Huoyun were still talking and laughing together the day before, but now they are separated by yin and yang, recalling the memories of his childhood, Li Quansheng couldn't help but cry and sang about the friendly relationship with Wu Huoyun before his death, and asked Wu Huoyun to bless and bless the safety of his family in the sky.

Li Quansheng cried bitterly, and the sad voice caused Wu Huoyun's family to start crying bitterly, and in an instant, the entire mourning hall was filled with a burst of sad crying.

"My eldest brother will also feel sincerely relieved to see a friend like you in the spirit of heaven, and Quan Sheng also asks you to mourn and take care of your body. Li Quansheng knelt down in front of Wu Huoyun's spirit and cried and sang for a while, Wu Qi, who was accompanying the sacrifice next to him, saw this Li Quansheng's old tears, crying so much that his voice was a little hoarse, for fear that Li Quansheng would be too sad and what would happen, so he quickly got up to dissuade him, hoping that he could mourn.

With the support of Wu Qi and Li Yichen, Li Quansheng slowly stood up and inserted the incense burned in his hand on the incense burner in the middle of the spiritual table.

"Thank you, family!

After seeing Li Quansheng and Li Yichen both insert the lit incense into the incense burner, the monk at the spiritual table knocked on the copper chime again and shouted to the family members to kowtow in thanks.

"What's going on? It's a sign that there's going to be another incident. ”

When Li Quansheng saw Wu Huoyun's family members kneeling beside him, he couldn't help but muttered in his heart. (To be continued.) )
