Chapter 17: Just got off the train
Clarke, Hermione, and Neville arrived at Hogwarts safely and comfortably.
The train stopped safely in front of the platform of Hogsmeade Station, and everyone got off one after another, and the scene was very chaotic.
"First-year freshman, go this way!"
A loud and familiar voice rang out, and in the bright light, Hagrid stood there greeting the first-year students, including Ginny, ready to greet them as they crossed the lake in the traditional way.
He also saw Clark and shouted at them, "Isn't Harry with you?" ”
Unfortunately, the scene was too crowded, and the three of Clark waved at him, but before they could answer, they were pushed to the other side of the platform by the surging crowd around them.
Now that they are in the second grade, they have to change to a new way of enrolling.
The three of them followed the other seniors to a rough dirt path by the platform. In the eyes of the crowd, there were at least a hundred carriages where horses could not be seen.
Of course, this does not include Clark, because in Clark's eyes, there are not really no horses in front of the carriage.
Between the poles, there are some strange magical creatures.
They resemble reptiles, tall but bony, with black fur clinging to the skeleton, and every bone is clearly visible, without a single muscle.
And where they bulge between their shoulder bones, there are also a pair of large, black bat wings.
As if sensing that someone was watching them, the "Pegasus" closest to Clark twisted his dragon-shaped head and glared at him with dead fish eyes with no pupils.
Clark wasn't scared, he knew that the cart was actually pulling a magical animal called Thestrals, a type of Pegasus.
Many superstitious people believe that these creatures are very unlucky, and that they will bring terrible disasters to those who see them.
But in fact, Thestrals can only be seen by those who have witnessed death, and Clarke, who has experienced death himself as a reborn, can naturally see them as well.
As for Hermione and Neville, they couldn't see that.
The three of them casually chose a carriage and got in, closed the door, and the carriage squeaked and moved under the pull of Thestrals, jolting and swaying forward in the procession.
The car was filled with a faint musty smell and straw smell, which, combined with the rickety carriage, reminded Clark of what it was like to ride in an old-fashioned bus in his previous life.
Fortunately, this section of the road was not long, and they made a circle along the walls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and at the end of the carriage road, there were two magnificent wrought iron gates.
On either side of the gate, there are stone pillars, and on top of them are winged boars.
This is the main entrance to Hogwarts!
Passing through the main entrance, the carriage sped down the long uphill drive to the castle, passing the grounds of Hogwarts and Hagrid's Cottage along the way.
Hermione poked her head out of the small car window and watched as the castle's turrets and towers grew closer and closer to them.
Yes, contrary to what many may think, the gates of Hogwarts Castle are not on the side of the Great Hall and Foyer, but at the back of the entire castle.
Finally, the carriage staggered to a halt, and Clarke, along with Hermione and Neville, disembarked on the lawn and followed the crowd up the stone steps, through the majestic oak gates, and into the castle's large, deep foyer.
There were flaming torches, and a magnificent marble staircase led upstairs.
To the right of the foyer, the door to the auditorium was open, and they walked in, and found that there were already quite a few people sitting at the tables of the four colleges.
Overhead, countless flaming candles floated in mid-air, illuminating the golden plates and goblets that lay on the table. The enchanted ceiling illuminates the sky outside, and the stars shine brightly in the deep blue of the night.
The three of them sat down at the long table belonging to Gryffindor, quietly waiting for the sorting ceremony to begin, but unfortunately they didn't see Harry or Ron until the first-year freshmen lined up to walk in.
These two missed the Sorting Hat ceremony!
Hermione glanced around, looked at Clark anxiously, and whispered in his ear, "What the hell are these two doing?" They didn't board the train! ”
Clark really wanted to praise Hermione for "you're so smart", but unfortunately this was not the time to joke, and he could only comfort her softly.
"Don't worry, the two of them are not too small, even if they miss the train, they can send an owl to deliver a letter to Professor McGonagall, or contact the staff on the train platform."
Of course, there is one more thing Clark hasn't said, and that is "as long as they're not reckless and impulsive Gryffindors".
Hermione, apparently unexpected, turned her head to look at the freshmen with Clarke, and walked into the auditorium with fear under the leadership of Professor McGonagall.
Clarke's cousin, Ginny, was among them, and her Weasley-like red hair was prominent, and Clark waved at her.
In addition to her, at this year's sorting ceremony, Clark also saw a little witch with pale blonde curly hair and wandering eyes, who looked eccentric.
It was Luna Lovegood, who had a name and a surname in the original book, and was listed as half of the Harry Potter fandom heroine along with Hermione.
Clark looked at her curiously, and found that there was nothing unusual about this little girl except that she was beautiful and a little exaggerated.
But aside from her and Ginny, there seemed to be little to see about the whole sorting ceremony.
Clarke turned his gaze back to the teacher's seat, where Headmaster Dumbledore was sitting in a high-backed chair watching the ceremony, his long silver beard and half-moon-shaped spectacle lenses glistening in the candlelight.
A few chairs next to him, Gilderoy Lockhart wore his coquettish turquoise robes, and beside him sat the burly Hagrid, who was holding his glass and looking at Gryffindor with concern.
In addition, next to Professor Flitwick, there was a vacant seat, and the entire faculty chair was missing Professor Snape, the head of Slytherin.
Hermione apparently noticed this as well, and she glanced at Clarke, realizing that Snape's absence might be due to Harry and Ron.
"What the hell are the two of them going on, they won't be caught by Snape and will be expelled, right?" Hermione asked worriedly.
Clarke casually responded, "Don't worry, with Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall here, they will definitely be fine." ”
At this time, the last freshman had already completed the sorting process, and Dumbledore stood up, and Clarke noticed that Professor McGonagall had also risen, but instead of taking the sorting hat, she hurriedly left the table.
"Look, isn't Professor McGonagall going?" Clark pointed it out to her.
Hermione glared at Clark.
"You must know something, you're hiding it from me!"
