Chapter 24: The Attack on Halloween's Eve
"Give," Ron said, "we can take as much as we can." โ
A large pile of colorful candy fell on Harry and Clarke's laps like a shower.
It was already dark, and Ron, Hermione, and Neville had just walked into the common room, their faces flushed from the cold wind, and they looked like they were having a lot of fun.
"Thank you."
Clark said, picking up a packet of pepper urchins, which supposedly smoke coming out of his ears when he ate it.
"How's Hogsmeade? Where have you been? Harry asked.
"I've been to a lot of places."
Listen to their tonesโit's like they've gone anywhere.
Devis-Bans, Magic Equipment, Jokowi, three broomsticks and hot butterbeer, among other places.
"The post office there, Harry! There are about two hundred owls, all squatting on the shelves, all color-coded, depending on how fast you want your letter to go! โ
"Duke Honey has launched a new latex fudge and let us try a few pieces for free, here it is, look-"
"We seem to have seen a lady-eating shemale, really, there is everything in the three broomsticks-"
"I wish I could bring you some butterbeer, it makes you feel hot all overโ"
One by one, they told each other about their experiences, but Harry's reaction was extremely strange, as if he was not interested in their description.
"What did you do?" Hermione looked curious when she saw Harry's appearance and asked, "Did you do your homework?" โ
"No," said Harry, "I met Clark after you left, and we both had some tea in Professor Lupin's office. Then Snape went in......"
He told them about the goblet, and Ron's mouth went open.
"Lupin drunk?" Surprised, he asked, "Is he crazy?" Clark, why didn't you stop him? โ
Clark looked at his watch, "We've got to go down, and in five minutes the Halloween party will begin......"
They certainly didn't want to miss the dinner, and a few people hurriedly crawled out of the portrait hole and into the crowd.
On the way, Ron was still talking about Snape, "how could he drink something of unknown origin, if he- you know-"
"Alright, Ron," Hermione frowned, glancing around vaguely, "Since Clark was there, he must have recognized what kind of potion it was, and since he didn't stop it, it must be fine." โ
Facing the gazes of several people, Clark nodded, "That's right, I've seen that potion, and there's no problem." โ
"What kind of potion is that?" Ron asked curiously.
Clark glanced at him, "Your curiosity is a little hot, Ron, it's some ordinary tonic, Professor Lupin's body does look like it's going to need to be replenished." โ
They reached the foyer and walked towards the auditorium.
Tonight's auditorium, as in previous years, was adorned with hundreds of candle-lit pumpkins, a swarm of live bats flying around, and many orange banners burning with flames.
All of this did not add any horror to this Halloween, but made this dinner party extraordinarily warm.
The food on the table was also extremely delicious, and the skills of those house-elves had increased significantly, and even Ron, who had already stuffed his stomach with Duke Honey's candy, added a copy of everything.
After a delicious dessert, it's the turn of the ghosts of Hogwarts to perform their best shows.
The translucent apparitions leapt out of the walls and tables in formations and glides, and Gryffindor's almost headless Nick reenacts his beheading experience over and over again, a resounding success.
The happy dinner ended with warm applause, and Clark and the others followed the rest of the Gryffindor classmates along their usual route to the tower.
However, when they reached the hallway leading to the portrait of the fat lady, they found that it was already crowded with students, and the entire corridor was flooded.
"Why don't you go in?" Ron said curiously.
Harry stood on tiptoe and looked over the heads of his classmates in front of him, and saw that the hole in the portrait seemed to be closed.
Clarke's heart moved, knowing that it should be Sirius Black, who prepared to forcibly break into the Gryffindor common room while they were attending the Halloween dinner in the Great Hall to find Peter Pettigrew.
"Excuse me, let me pass." At this time, Percy's calm voice came from the back of the crowd, "Why are you all stuck here?" You can't all have forgotten the passwordโI'm sorry, please let me passโ"
He hurried through the crowd, and suddenly, the crowd fell silent, and from the front row, there seemed to be a cold snap spreading down the corridor.
Then, the next moment, they heard Percy say in a voice that had become shrill, "Who's going to call Professor Dumbledore, quick!" โ
People turned their heads, and the people standing behind them craned their necks and stood on tiptoe.
"What's wrong?" Ginny, who had just walked over, asked suspiciously.
But before they could answer, Professor Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall suddenly appeared, and they walked briskly towards the portrait, and the Gryffindor classmates huddled together to make a way, and Hermione pulled Clark and Neville up to see what was going on.
The next moment, Hermione let out a scream and grabbed Clarke's arm.
"Oh my goshโ"
It's the fat lady! The fat lady disappeared from her portrait!
The portrait of Clarke, which they were so familiar with and which they looked at several times a day, had been violently cut and destroyed by some kind of sharp weapon, and the fragments of the canvas were scattered all over the ground, and a large piece of the canvas had simply been torn away.
Dumbledore quickly glanced at the ruined portrait and turned to make eye contact with a solemn Professor McGonagall as Professor Lupin and Professor Snape walked briskly towards them.
"Minerva," said Dumbledore, "we need to find her as soon as possible, and I beg you to go to Filch at once, and tell him to search every painting in the castle for the fat lady." โ
But as soon as he finished speaking, a giggling, strange voice came from the ceiling, "Then I have to wish you good luck, Headmaster!" โ
Peeves, a prankster, walked through the ceiling above everyone's heads, as if he was happier than usual at the sight of the chaotic scene.
"What do you mean by that, Peeves?" Faced with Peeves' tricks, Dumbledore still asked calmly.
Gu Qi
The smile on Pispi's face subsided a little, he didn't dare to really laugh at the headmaster.
So he changed his tone to a flattering tone, but it was not much better than the strange laughter just now.
"Oh, she's terrified, Headmaster.
Now she doesn't want to be seen, because she ...... How so...... It's a mess.
I saw the landscape of her running over the fifth floor, sir, yes, she hid in the bushes, crying not to mention how sad it was. โ
There was no trace of sympathy in Peeves' tone, but it was very cheerful.
"What a wretched man." He added another sentence with a false heart, but he did not mean to pity others.
"Did she tell who did it?" Dumbledore asked calmly.
"Oh, that's it, Professor." Peeves grimaced exaggeratedly, "Look, she won't let him in the break room, so he's angry. โ
Peeves flipped in the air and grinned at Dumbledore from between his legs, "Honestly, his temper is pretty scary - that Sirius Black." โ
"Hiss~"
Listening to Peeves's words, the little wizards present all gasped and made a little contribution to global warming.
Sirius Black actually broke into the castle and even tried to enter the Gryffindor common room?
It's horrible!
Thankfully, it's Halloween and everyone isn't in the tower.
Professor McGonagall had a worried look on her face and clutched her chest in excitement, while Professor Lupin had a very strange expression on her face, and only Snape and Clark could clearly perceive that the spy's mind was not as calm as he appeared on the surface.
Fortunately, Headmaster Dumbledore was extremely calm at this time, and directly asked all Gryffindor House students to return to the Great Hall immediately, and at the same time arranged for Professor Lupin and Professor Snape to inform the deans of the other houses.
Clark and the others followed the group, escorted by Professor McGonagall and walked downstairs again, whispering about what had just happened.
They returned to the auditorium, where the Halloween-related decorations had not been removed.
After ten minutes of waiting, the students of Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and other houses also returned under the guidance of their respective deans, but most of these students looked confused, and some smart people grabbed the Gryffindor students and asked.
"Quiet! The instructors will join me in conducting a thorough search of the castle. Dumbledore's wand pointed at his throat, and a loud voice immediately echoed through the Great Hall, silencing the noise of the students.
By this time, Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick had closed all the doors and windows of the Great Hall.
"For your safety, I think you may have to spend the night here tonight," Headmaster Dumbledore arranged, "I ask that the prefects stand guard at the entrance to the Great Hall, and that the Presidents of the Male and Female Student Council remain in the Great Hall to take charge of it, and report anything to me immediately." โ
"Find a ghost to bring me a message." The last sentence was specially explained to Percy.
When it was done, Dumbledore was about to leave the Great Hall when he stopped and said, "Oh, by the way, maybe you'll need ......"
With a wave of his wand, the long tables flew to the edge of the auditorium and stood against the wall; With another wave, the ground is covered with hundreds of purple sleeping bags.
"Get a good night's sleep, good night." Professor Dumbledore said that he had closed the door as he went out.
Immediately, there was another buzz of excitement in the auditorium: the students of Gryffindor House were busy telling students from other houses what had just happened.
"Everybody's in a sleeping bag!" Percy shouted, "Hurry up, don't even talk!" Tomorrow there is time for you to discuss, okay, turn off the lights in ten minutes!"
Clark, Hermione, and Neville grabbed their sleeping bags and walked into the corner, followed by Ron, Harry, and Ginny.
"You say, is Blake still in the castle?" Ginny asked anxiously and quietly.
"I guess so, that's what Dumbledore apparently thought." Ron said.
"He's lucky to be tonight, just in time we're not in the tower," Clark joked, as they both got into their sleeping bags and leaned their upper bodies on their elbows to talk, "or we'll run into Neville and knock him to the ground in less than a minute." โ
"As long as he dares to come, I will make him look good!" Neville seemed to take Clarke's joke seriously, and said confidently.
Ron didn't believe it, "I guess he's having a mess of life, because he's been on the run, otherwise he would have chosen to break in on Halloween." โ
Ginny shuddered, and the people around them were all asking each other the same question, "How did he get in?"
"Maybe he knows how to stealth," said a Ravenclaw student a few feet away, "and it emerges from thin air, you know." โ
"Probably came in with makeup." A fifth-grader at Hufflepuff House said.
"Or else it's flying in." Dean Thomas said.
Everyone was expressing their opinions, and Hermione rolled her eyes and touched Clark with her elbow, "What do you say?" โ
"None of these methods are realistic," Clark said lazily as he lay in his sleeping bag, "and if you've seen Hogwarts, a school history, you'll know that the castle itself is a huge alchemical structure, and in addition to the walls, it is also enchanted with all kinds of magic. โ
The people around them listened intently to what Clark had to say, and they knew that Clark was the authority in this regard.
"Spatial barriers have been erected throughout the castle, and this kind of thing is like an ubiquitous net, enveloping Hogwarts, and it is impossible to teleport in or out of Hogwarts, whether it is an apparition, a portkey, or a Floo powder.
Of course, if you have teaching privileges, Floo fans can still be used, but only in a fixed office. Other than that, only creatures like house-elves can crawl through the mesh and weave through the castle.
Therefore, the light latent form cannot enter. โ
"As for makeup, sorry, the Dementor Observation Perspective is more biased towards looking at a person's soul fluctuations, so just changing the physiognomy is not enough. Flying was impossible, and if Blake flew in, the Dementors would see him.
And Filch knows all the secret passages, and he will seal them all......"
"Lights out now!" Percy yelled, "Everybody's in their sleeping bags, and stop talking!"
Clark was silent, as if he had really heard Percy's words, and fell into a deep sleep.
However, in the air in front of him, a curtain of light that no one else could see was slowly unfolding.
Now that Blake can't help but act, in order to ensure safety, let's upgrade first.
