Chapter 57: A Bunch of Big Guys
Hermione still didn't get out of Clark's mouth what Rita Skeeter's handle was.
Clark is a man of his word, and since he had promised Rita Ski, as long as the other party was obedient, he would not reveal her secret.
The three of them sat in their seats, sipping butterbeer as they looked at the people in the tavern.
They all seemed relaxed and elated.
Ernie McMillan and Hannah Abbott are exchanging cards from the chocolate frog with someone at the next table.
Ron and Harry are playing magic cards, and the Three Broomsticks Tavern has a whole set of cards that you can play as long as you spend them here.
At the door of the tavern, Clark also saw Cho Chang and her group of Ravenclaw friends......
"Look, it's Hagrid!" Hermione said suddenly.
Clark turned his head to see the back of Hagrid's large, unkempt head in the crowd.
Thankfully, he finally stopped tying his hair into a ponytail.
Clark wondered why Hagrid was such a big man, and he hadn't seen it at a glance.
When he stood up, he found Hagrid leaning down and talking to Professor Moody and Charlie Weasley.
Hagrid had his usual glass of beer in front of him, Charlie was drinking golden mead, and Moody was still holding the curved bottle he had carried.
Mrs. Rosemerta, the pretty proprietress seemed dissatisfied with this, and she squinted at Moody as she cleaned up the glass on the table next to her.
She probably thought Moody's behavior was an insult to her hot mead, but Clark knew otherwise.
This guy's flask is more likely to contain a compound decoction.
Of course, his claim to the outside world was that an Auror would rather prepare his own food and drink at all times, because it was so easy for a dark wizard to poison an unattended cup.
As Clark looked at them, Hagrid, Charlie, and Moody stood up to leave.
Clark wasn't going to say hello, but Charlie seemed to see him, and he stopped, patted Hagrid's back, and whispered something to him.
Then the three of them turned around together and walked towards Clarke's table.
"How's it going, Clark?" Hagrid asked aloud, "Are you still struggling with the game?" โ
"Do you think I need that," Clark smiled confidently, "whatever it is, I'm pretty sure!" โ
His words immediately drew applause from the Hogwarts wizards present.
For these children, humility and prudence are never something they need to consider, and a person who is flamboyant, outgoing, and confident is more likely to be welcomed by them.
Moody limped around the table and grinned when he heard Clark's words, "Good boy, I have the demeanor I used to be." โ
From a few inches away, the mutilated chunk of his nose looked particularly noticeable.
"Thanks for the compliment, Professor." Clark said.
"However, even the best wizard must have two or three helpers," Moody glanced at Hermione and Neville, "even if you are confident about this competition, I would be right to help a little more." โ
Charlie also bowed his head and smiled at Clark, and said in a very low voice that only Clark could hear:
"Clark, go to Hagrid's cabin at twelve o'clock in the middle of the night to-day, and he'll show you something good."
Hagrid nodded, leaned down and said, "Remember to ask Harry to borrow the Cloak of Invisibility." โ
Then, he straightened up and said deliberately loudly, "Nice to meet you, Hermione. โ
Then he winked at them and left, Charlie and Moody following him.
"What do they mean by this, they're going to take you to see the content of the first competition in the middle of the night?" Hermione asked, in a low voice.
Clarke nodded, "Dumbledore and I mentioned earlier that cheating is a repertoire of the Triwizard Tournament. I think the principals of several other schools will also open back doors to their students. โ
"Really?" Hermione was a little surprised, "But don't you know what the game is about?" I remember the last time you took us to the dragon farm, you said that the first thing was to deal with the fire dragon. โ
"That's not easy, Clark." Neville reminded from the side, "Not to mention their huge size, they also spew dragon fire, and the scales of the fire dragon alone are permeated with ancient magic, which only the most powerful spells can penetrate. โ
"Well, of course I do," Clark reassured, "don't worry, I'm sure of this game, and don't forget, I'm no ordinary wizard." โ
After drinking the butterbeer, they also returned to the castle.
It was half past eleven that night, and Clarke, who had gone to bed early, woke up on time, grabbed the invisibility cloak he had borrowed from Harry, and quietly walked through the common room to the downstairs.
There were still a few people in the common room, and Clarke, taking advantage of the neglect of the psychic ability, slipped past them and came to the portrait hole, staring at his watch, and waited for a minute or so.
Then, as originally planned, Hermione opened the portrait of the Fat Lady from the outside.
Clark whispered, "Thank you!" He flashed past her and set off through the castle.
It was pitch black on the grounds outside the castle, and Clark walked down the sloping lawn towards Hagrid's hut, which was still lit through.
Beauxbatons' huge carriage was also brightly lit, and Madame Maxim could be heard talking in the carriage when Clark knocked on Hagrid's door.
"You're here, Clark?" Hagrid whispered, opening the door and looking around to make sure there was no one around.
"yes," Clark said, walking into the cabin, "when are we going to see the big guys?" โ
"You know that," Hagrid said, "yes, Dumbledore should have told you, but Charlie thinks you should get up close and personal with those guys, unlike Nobeta, they're grown dragons!" โ
Hagrid's expression was very excited.
Tonight he was dressed in a special way, with a sprig of flowers stuck in the buttonhole of his clothes, like a particularly large artichoke.
He didn't have any more machine lube on his head, but he must have spent a lot of time combing his hairโClark could see the broken teeth of a comb in his hair.
"Follow me in a moment, remember not to make a sound, and cover yourself with an invisibility cloak," Hagrid admonished, "we don't bring our teeth, it won't like it......"
With that, he glanced out the window, opened the door to the hut, and strode into the darkness.
Clark hurried to follow, and found Hagrid leading him toward Beauxbatons' carriage.
He walked up to the carriage and knocked three times on the door with two crossed golden wands.
Madame Maxime opened the door, and with a silk shawl around her broad shoulders, smiled and nodded to Hagrid at the sight of him.
"Ah, Hagrid...... Is the time up? โ
"Good evening, yes, it's time." Hagrid looked at her with the same smile, and held out a hand to help her down the golden steps.
Madame Maxime closed the door of the carriage, Hagrid gave her his arm, and together they walked around the edge of the makeshift paddock toward the other side of the Forbidden Forest.
Clark was behind, trotting to keep up with them.
No, Madame Maxime didn't seem to understand Hagrid's purpose this time, so after a few moments, she asked in a joking tone, "Where are you taking me, Hagrid?" โ
"You're going to love it," Hagrid said in a gruff voice, "it's worth watching, trust me." Butโdon't tell anyone that I took you to see it, okay? You shouldn't know. โ
"Of course I won't." Madame Maxim said, her long, dark eyelashes fanning as if she understood something.
They were still walking, and Clark trotted behind.
The men walked a long way around the edge of the Forbidden Forest until the castle and the lake were out of sight, and Clark faintly heard some movement.
There were several men shouting loudly in front...... Then there was a deafening, shrill roar......
Hagrid led Madame Maxime around a thick grove of trees and stopped.
Clark followed up and stood with themโthe next, for a moment, he thought he had seen several campfires, and several men were jumping around them.
Then he realized what those things were.
Dragon!
That's right, in the dim moonlight, four fierce-looking adult fire dragons were being locked in a field surrounded by thick wooden planks, standing up on their hind legs, raising their heads and letting out a roar, snorting and snorting.
Clusters of blazing flames erupted from their open, fanged mouths and shot into the dark night sky, looking from afar like a thick pillar of fire.
Hagrid and the others walked a few more steps, and they were finally able to see the dragons more clearly.
Among the four fire dragons.
A fiery dragon covered in silver-blue scales and with a pair of long, crescent-like horns roared angrily at the wizards on the field, spewing pale blue sparks from its mouth from time to time.
It seems that this should be the Swedish short-nosed dragon, a fire dragon breed native to Sweden.
Despite their medium size and the ability to live in uninhabited areas of the wild, they are still one of the most dangerous dragons due to their blazing dragon flame, which can instantly turn wood and bones to ashes.
A dragon with fine, smooth green scales was smaller than the Swedish short-nosed dragon, the smallest of the four, with only a pair of tiny curved horns on its head and a pointed beak like a bird's beak.
This is the Welsh Green Dragon, a native breed of fire dragon in the United Kingdom, and the least troublesome of all fire dragons.
Due to their size, they generally feed on small mammals such as sheep and will actively avoid humans.
Of course, if you underestimate them because of this, then the flames that erupt from between the thin upper and lower jaws will let you know what is powerful.
There was also a fiery dragon, covered in sleek scales of bright red, with a golden fringe-like spike around its lion's nose face, and its eyes bulging out, and it was spewing mushroom-shaped clouds of fire into the air.
This one should be the Chinese Fireball Dragon, a species of fire dragon native to China.
Unlike other dragons, they are aggressive, but they are more united. Sometimes, they are even willing to share a piece of territory with one or two other dragons.
As for the last black dragon, just by looking at it, Clark knew that it must be the most ferocious and aggressive of the four fire dragons.
None other than because it was the largest of them all, with long sharp horns on its head and sharp, bronze-colored spikes on its back and tail.
These horns and spikes are enough to give it the upper hand in hand-to-hand combat with its kind, not to mention its sharp claws and thick hind legs.
"Hungarian Tree Wasp!" Hagrid stared at the dragon closest to them, and at the same time the most irritable, muttering to himself, his eyes full of obsession.
That's right, this is the most dangerous of the Hungarian tree bee dragons, and the most vicious and aggressive of them.
At this time, there were at least thirty wizards on the grounds, and half of them were in charge of dealing with the Hungarian Tree Bee Dragon.
They tugged at the chains, desperately trying to subdue the four dragons, which connected the dragon's legs to the dragon's neck, with a large thick belt.
Whenever the dragons struggled dissatisfiedly, they tugged at the chains, making a clattering sound of metal.
Clark looked up, and high above, he saw the eyes of the Hungarian tree hornet.
Its pupils were as vertical as a cat's eye, and with telepathy, Clark could sense that its heart was filled with monstrous rage.
Obviously, being transported from its distant hometown to this cold place made it very unhappy.
In contrast, the Welsh green dragon not far away began to fall asleep because of the cold weather after struggling dissatisfied.
"Stay there, Hagrid!" A wizard near the fence spotted Hagrid and Madame Maxime and shouted, clutching the chain in his hand, "They breathe fire twenty feet away, you know!" I saw this treebee spraying forty feet! โ
The black dragon's eyes bulged out as if to match what he was saying, and he made a terrible sound, a terrible and piercing wail......
At the same time, a viscous, lava-like cone of dragon flame erupted from its mouth, covering Hagrid and Madame Maxime.
Although there was still some distance between them, Clark could guarantee that the flames of the boiling heat wave would definitely burn Hagrid and himself to charcoal.
Fortunately, Hagrid also has Madame Maxim by his side, this tall lady, since she can be the headmaster of Beauxbatons School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she naturally has two brushes.
When the dragon flame surged in, she just raised her thick right hand, and the gemstone ring on her index finger bloomed with a hazy light.
The next moment, those blazing dragon flames were like waves crashing into a reef, blocked by a polyhedral transparent crystal wall that suddenly appeared in front of Hagrid, and they reluctantly rushed to both sides.
It was only then that the wizard's reminder reached their ears.
"Be careful!"
