Chapter 568: Seeking Business in the Official
Li Linfu and Wang Jiao walked on the straight road in front of Xingqing Palace, the face of the right minister was not very good-looking, this was the first time in his life that he almost did not control the situation, although the situation is now under control, some people who make him unhappy have escaped his encirclement and interception, and it has become one of the uncontrollable factors that make him difficult to control.
The right-hand minister has repeatedly lowered his demands on his comrades, saying that it does not matter if they are corrupt and harms the people, and it does not matter if they accumulate money, and the only hard criterion is that the official position must come from his subordinates, and if they have the most fundamental interests, they will rally closely around him. Now most of the officials in Chang'an City are from his disciples, and those officials who do not pass through his door will all be suppressed by him.
The envoys of the ten sections of the border towns are related to the safety of the emperor, so the appointment of the envoys of the ten sections is tightly in the hands of Li Longji, and no matter how favored and trusted Li Linfu is, he cannot cross this power.
For this reason, Li Linfu tried to influence the Jiedu envoys in other ways, or promote them before they were promoted to the Jiedu envoys. Gao Xianzhi and An Lushan and others have been more or less favored and influenced by the right minister, and they have supported each other for a long time.
Li Siye is now in a high position in Longyou, he naturally can't be regarded as non-existent, just like the ambitious son named An Lushan, he can't easily offend everyone, so he must mix them in and use each other to achieve his goals.
The ideal is sometimes beautiful, but the reality is very skinny, and sometimes if you want to control the situation or control the overall situation, you have to make compromises. This principle applies to Li Linfu as well as to Li Siye.
On the sixth day after Li Siye presented suona and music, Li Longji ordered to build a mansion for him in Chang'an City.
In order to ensure the cunning rabbit three caves, he did not reveal the old mansion of Xinchangfang that he bought earlier, the new mansion is in Guangfufang on the right side of Zhuque Street, Chengzhong Street, Chang'an, there seems to be no famous officials in this square, at least until now, he Li Siye's official position is the highest. That's fine, at least in the future, when he lives in the workshop, he doesn't need to visit any nobles, and he doesn't need to look at anyone's face.
Before the mansion was built, Li Siye lived in the mansion arranged by Michagan, and the emperor sent someone to make a decree, and successively granted him seven or eight positions. In particular, although the three envoys of the interviewer, the herd envoy, and the recruiting envoy are only positions, their power is not insignificant. The interviews made him supervise the criminal laws and examinations of various states and counties, and the examinations largely determined the future of officials, and the jurisdiction of the entire Longyou Dao was under him. The jurisdiction of the herdsmen of Longyou is not large, but it is only maintained in the middle of a few pastures, but he is in charge of the supply of all military horses in Longyou Dao. At times like this, it is a matter of course to give some generous treatment to the envoys of the North Garden.
As for the terms of reference of the Longyou recruiting envoys, Li Siye also went to the Ministry of Officials to check it, because there was no such an official position before, Li Siye had to find the right to interpret and subordinates, and many officials of the Ministry of War had held this kind of official position of escorting soldiers.
One day, he finally understood that these three official positions would help him the most, that is, he could justifiably arrange people to operate the trade route from India to Yangguan, complete the preliminary paving completed by Dai Wang, and officially transport pepper, sandalwood and other spices as bulk imports.
Now there is no such thing as customs, he does not need to spend a penny to import in Tianzhu, and even plundering and harvesting in the raw material area, they are difficult to detect and have no sense of prevention.
It was a golden age of doing business with Indians, Buddhism was in decline in India, caste Brahmanism was in vogue, the wars were over, and India was plunged into an era of peace with many city-states and many powers.
That's right, when they split into small countries, there will be a long period of peace, but when Ashoka, the Peacock King and others are unified, they will be in an era of war for a long time.
According to Dai Wang, the population of these countries is steadily rising, and the more people they have, the more business profits they have.
In the west, he needed Indians, but on the trade route from the west to Chang'an, he needed many Hu merchants like Michagan to connect and operate.
Among the Central Asian Hu people in Chang'an City, the largest number is the Central Asian Shang Hu. The Sogdians themselves were a mercantile people, "where there is profit, there is everything". The economic prosperity and stability of the Tang Dynasty attracted a large number of Hu merchants to the east, and many people came to the area of Chang'an, the capital of Beijing. At that time, Chang'an had two cities, east and west, both of which were commercial areas, and they were also the places where the Hu people were more active. The Middle East City is located near the aristocratic and bureaucratic quarters, and its "220 rows of goods and materials in the market, mansions on all sides, and curiosities from all directions, are all accumulated." The household registration of Wannian County was reduced to Chang'an, and the residence below the secretary was mostly in the east of Zhuque Street, and the first house occupied by the nobles was made up by the merchants, and most of them belonged to the West City." Despite this, there are also a number of Hu Ren shops in the East Market, such as Bi Luo Shi and Hu Qin sellers. About Bi Luo, "Tang Yulin" volume 8 clouds: "Bi's and Luo's taste good in Fanzhong". Mr. Xiang Da believes that there is Bi Guo more than 100 miles west of Anguo, and his people often go to China to trade, so the so-called Bi Luo, because he comes from Bi country, so he takes it as a name. Bi Luo should refer to pilaf that is popular in Xinjiang and Central Asia. On June 27, the third year of Tang Huichang (843 AD), "the third watch at night, there was a fire in the east market." More than 4,000 houses in 12 lines west of Caomen in Dong City were burned, and official and private property, gold, silver, silk medicine, etc. were all burned out." Among them, there are many Hu people shops.
However, the largest gathering of merchants and Hu should be in the West Market, the so-called "merchants make up, mostly belong to the West Market", that is, its "shops in the city are like the system of the East Market." Chang'an County has received more than 40,000 households, which is more than 10,000 years. (Note: "Tang Liangjing City Fang Examination" volume 4 "West Market" article under the proofreading, pages 117~118.) There are clothing shops, silk shops, restaurants, restaurants, fish shops, wine shops, fierce shops, Persian mansions, etc. in the city, (Note: "Tang Liangjingcheng Fang Examination" with (Qing) Cheng Hongzhao "Tang Liangjingcheng Fang Examination School Supplement", pp. 208~209; "Revised Tang Liang Jingcheng Fang Examination" volume 4 "West Market" article added, pp. 210~212. The Hu people of Central Asia and the Western Regions mostly live here. Volume 402 of the Taiping Guangji records many anecdotes of Hu people buying treasures, mostly referring to Hu merchants in the West Market. Qian Yi's "Southern New Book" has a cloud: "The Hu people in Xishi are precious clam beads and cheap 虵 (shé) beads, and those who are in the pearls are the only ones who can distinguish them." (Note: (Song) Qian Yi, "Southern New Books", Jibu, Zhonghua Book Company, 1958 edition, p. 57.) In addition, volume 9 of Liu Su's "New Sayings of the Tang Dynasty" also recorded: "There are people in Jinchengfang in Zhenguan who have been robbed by Hu, and they have not been caught for a long time. When Yang usurped the history of Yongzhou, he judged the Zhuhu of Jingchengfang City to be questioned by all the forbidden questions. Yin Yi, who joined the army in the judiciary, said in a different judgment: 'There are ten thousand thieves, and fraud is not one.' There are also bearded hats, and Han hats are also required to be wrapped in Han and begged, and they must not be directly sought in Huzhong. Please chase and ban Xishi Hu, please don't ask. 'The thief was found. (Note: (Tang) Liu Su, Xu Denan, Li Dingxia Dian Proofreading: "Tang Xinyu" Volume 9 "Congshan", Zhonghua Book Company, 1984 edition.) It can be seen that the West Market is the largest gathering place of Hu merchants.
In addition to the Shang Hu, there were also some upper-class Central Asian figures who were active and settled in Chang'an, most of them were members of the Central Asian royal family and their descendants who entered the Tang Dynasty and some Muyi naturalized people, as well as some religious leaders (Zoroastrianism, Nestorianism, etc.) and those who became rich through business. After these people entered the Tang Dynasty, they were canonized by the Tang Dynasty and enjoyed all kinds of preferential treatment. There is not much history about where these people lived, and it seems difficult to judge. However, Tang gave many Central Asians who were officials in Chang'an mansions for them to live in. After their deaths, their colleagues and descendants often erect monuments for them, and the inscriptions often mention the places where they lived. We may be able to find some clues from some epitaphs and related historical materials about the Hu people in Central Asia unearthed in Chang'an today (Note: The characters listed below, except for Li Su and Belus, who are Persians, are all Hu people surnamed Zhaowujiu. )
