Chapter 3: Arcane Rookie
Due to the nightmares, Lanlos slept less than Fergus, and the whole room was quiet, except for the chirping of insects outside the window.
Cautiously descending the stairs, Lanros easily removed a heavy book from the shelf, then turned his head to make sure that Fergus was still resting, and quietly closed the door.
In fact, Lanlos woke up earlier than most, shrouded in the light of dawn, and the whole village seemed to be coated with a layer of gold dust, and the dazzling and warm light presented a reassuring tranquility.
Looking up at the clear blue sky, a rare flush appeared on Lanlos's pale cheeks, and good weather always brings a good mood.
For most of the year he has been in Azeroth, Lanlos has encountered this kind of weather almost every day.
After the War of the Ancients 10,000 years ago, the elves attributed the invasion of the Burning Legion to the misuse of arcane magic by the upper elves, led by Queen Azhara. As a result, the Night Elves forbade the use of arcane magic.
Unfortunately, having experienced the benefits of magic, the remaining upper-class elven nobles could not give up this power. Eventually, Darth Rema Sunstrider led a group of High Elven supporters to declare that arcane power was a natural human right, and that anyone who feared it was a coward.
He led his followers in an unbridled pursuit of arcane arts, ignoring the Night Elves' advice.
Of course, Darth Rema was not a supporter of Azhara, believing that studying the arcane was not a betrayal, but a means to grow the Night Elf society.
However, as the Queen has learned, the Night Elves are reluctant to share his views. Seeing the rift between the two sides deepen, Darth Rema and his followers left Mount Hyjal and crossed the ocean to prevent a civil war, eventually settling in Quel'Thalas.
After they established the Well of the Sun, in order to prevent a recurrence of the tragedy of the Well of Eternity, the most powerful arcanists of the High Elves erected huge runestones on the border line of Quel'Salas and built a powerful barrier from it.
Bantenorre, which means 'gatekeeper' in the Salasian language. Not only does this barrier shield others from the arcane magic, but it also keeps the superstitious Amani trolls at bay.
Within the barrier, civilization flourished, and the High Elves, who no longer cared about, used their arcane powers to create one miracle after another. One of them is to bathe the whole of Quel'Salas in eternal spring.
Unfortunately, Bantinorel does not have the power to repel others, at least not for the time being......
Looking at the fish-people roaming the beach, Lanlos's brows couldn't help but slowly close.
According to past experience, the fish-people do not like the sunny weather, and the moment the sun rises, they will return to the deep sea one after another. Even if there is a surplus, it will never be what it is today.
The number of dozens of people is really exaggerated.
It seems that the militia in the village will have to be notified later. Lanloth pursed his lips and quietly disappeared into the grass.
Continuing north along the beach, the elven boy finally found a quiet place. Coming to the lawn near the beach, he raised his hands, his lips quivering in a gentle and orderly manner, and his deep voice chanted obscure incantations like shadows.
It's, magic!
Fergus only knew that Lanlos was very good at reading, but he didn't know that the latter's practical ability was also not weak.
Despite not being led by the spellcaster, he still had Belish memories in his head, and although they were only fragments, they were enough for Lanloth to knock on the door of the arcane.
Unfortunately, Azeroth has a complete magical network, and is managed by the Blue Dragon Legion led by Malygos, plus Lanloth has given all his power to the Sagrit Keystone to open the teleportation. As a result, he couldn't manipulate his magic as easily as he did in the Shattered Abyss.
Otherwise, in the past half a year, it is difficult to say what kind of strength he can achieve.
Soon, the elven boy finished chanting, only to see his outstretched hands lingering with wisps of rising air, and a hot wind wave continued to spread outward.
Taking a deep breath, Lanlos gently pushed his hands towards the ground, the sound of dew vaporizing in the air kept ringing, and the faint white mist visible to the naked eye disappeared with the wind. In a matter of seconds, the lawn beneath his feet had dried completely.
It seems magical, but Lanlos is not proud of it. It's just a very simple magic trick, not even a ring spell technically.
While the ancient upper elves were studying the arcane, for convenience, they divided the general spells into one to nine rings according to their strength and consumption, as well as legendary spells that could easily change the world.
Correspondingly, the people of Azeroth are divided into ranks one to nine according to the strength of the profession, as well as legends that cannot be measured by their combat power alone. Interestingly, due to the uneven comparison of the combat power performance of different classes, people are accustomed to using primary, intermediate, and advanced levels to approximate the strength of professionals.
For mages, the embodiment of strength is much simpler. However, for a mage of the same level of strength, there may be a huge disparity in combat power.
After all, according to the efficacy of spells, different spells are divided into eight major spell schools and common schools. Protection, spells, prophecies, confusion, shapes, illusions, necromancy, and change—the knowledge contained in each faction is complex and vast, and most spellcasters can only understand one or two of them in their lifetime.
Of course, some of the most gifted spellcasters have the ability to step out of this framework, and even a ring of spells can be used in their hands to destroy their enemies.
And this talent and ability, which is called by the spellcasters, is super magic skill!
The Doomward Guardians were once the creations of the Titans, and they have a lot of skills in their memories that would allow Lanloth to completely escape the limitations of the Azeroth Web and the Blue Dragon Legion. It's a pity that he doesn't dare to touch it easily now.
After Belish served Sargeras, these supermagical skills and evil abilities could no longer be separated, and the previous knowledge, for some reason, Lanlos did not find any clues. If he continues to study the way he remembers, it is inevitable that he will ignite the evil energy again.
No matter what the power is, it will always subtly affect the user's mood, but more or less.
Despite the purity of the power contained in the Sagritan Keystone, it is an evil power, and evil energy is a symbol of endless chaos. Lanlos has not forgotten that when he obtained this power, in addition to ecstasy, he also had an irrepressible impulse, an urge to kill! Arrogant, reckless, and self-righteous, it seemed to turn him into a complete ogre!
This is a power that even the strongest titan like Sargeras can change, and Lanlos does not have the confidence to conquer it, nor will he use it easily. After all, he didn't want to be part of the Burning Legion......
Lying on the lawn, the elven boy opened the book in his hand, the dense Salas text made people dizzy, but he was obviously used to it, and carefully searched between the lines for the answers he craved.
As Fergus said, he was not a spellcaster, and the books in the hut had no knowledge of the arcane, and the few relevant ones were only rough generalizations.
Therefore, Lanlos, who did not have enough information, could only wander between mage apprentices and official mages for half a year.
However, he did not feel aggrieved, this mysterious power was something he could not have hoped for in his previous life, and now he was extremely excited to be able to contact and learn from it. The steady rise in power dissipated the fear of the unknown that he had had developed in this power, and the unprecedented sense of security allowed him to continue his study of the arcane arts.
And today is a very special day, a day that excites him immensely.
After reviewing the beginner's overview of spellcasting that could almost be memorized backwards, Lanloth closed the heavy book, and as he sank down, concentrating on communicating with the magic, a gentle breeze suddenly appeared, surrounding him, stirring the surrounding greenery, not in a hurry.
Almost!
Feeling that the magic around him had reached the limit of what he could grasp, Lanlos held his breath and slowly stretched out his index finger, outlining in the air one by one.
Purple arcane energy then crept up his fingertips, and under the control of his mind, it steadily combined in the air into an increasingly complete circular pattern.
Spell modeling, a step that only needs to be performed with more than one ring of formal spells!
Fine beads of sweat gradually oozed from the boy's forehead, and there was a weak feeling in his tense spirit, but his fingers dancing in the air still did not tremble. Because he knew that as long as he persevered, the door of the arcane would be completely open for him!
Finally, Lanloth connected all the spell nodes, and the ring-shaped spell model hummed in the air, and the blue-purple streamer was gorgeous and noble.
But the boy still didn't relax.
This is only the first step, and next, he must activate the spell node in it, and only when the magic power is successfully circulated will the spell be truly mastered by him.
Taking a deep breath, the elven boy slowly pressed his fingertips closer to the center of the circle.
Bite!
The magic collided, and the crisp and pleasant sound made Lan Luos's heart lift up.
I saw that the energy conversion node in the center of the circle suddenly began to tremble violently, and with a brief pause, a scorching air flow surged from it!
Almost instantly, crimson energy rampaged through the connecting passages between nodes like a beast that had broken through its cage!
The spell model suddenly let out a wail, and Lanloth's heart kept ringing a siren, and just as his eyes widened and he wanted to step back, the magic circle completely shrouded in crimson light erupted into a dazzling flash, and the hot air currents licked the young man's cheeks and hair, but the latter showed an extremely happy expression.
It worked!
The light came and went faster, and by the time everything had calmed down, the obscure spell model had vanished, and in its place was a fist-sized fireball.
