Chapter 195: Nowhere to Come and Nowhere to Go

Liyan led the people to move on.

One day when I came to a Bodhi tree, I made a promise to follow the example of Nyorai and meditate, but I never thought that I would fall asleep and fall asleep.

The solemn Buddha land, the supreme icon.

A treasure solemn monk is practicing sincerely, and the first stage of cultivating all kinds of supernatural powers, heterogeneous, severe, extinguished, stopped, and recognized emptiness, through the four meditations into the eight determinations.

The first Zen departed happily

After entering the realm of desire, before reaching the earth, continue to cultivate the mind of leaving the realm of desire; If his concentration gets deeper and deeper, his body, which was originally calm, will slowly feel it moving again. There are eight different sensations of this movement, namely cold, warm, moving, itchy, astringent, slippery, light, and heavy; The most common thing is to feel the body move. At this time, the mind has left the realm of desire, and it is time to enter the first meditation. Before you feel this, you must first sit still (meaningless content in parentheses) for a few days, or after sitting in meditation for a long time, you have a deep concentration and feel that your body is gone. Slowly, when you feel your body moving again, you will feel a sense of pleasure, that is, you will feel very comfortable and peaceful inside and out. There is no need to eat in segments above the first meditation, so there is no nose and tongue, only the eyes, ears, body, and mind. Those who enter the first meditation do not have the nose and tongue, so the nose cannot smell the smell of incense and odor outside; The tongue does not feel sweet, sour, bitter, spicy or other tastes. At this time, he had renounced the five desires in the realm of desire, and was no longer greedy for money, sex, fame, food, and sleep. He can also get rid of greed, ignorance, sleep, remorse, and doubt, and these five kinds of afflictions cover our wisdom and make us develop greed, ignorance, and ignorance, so they are called the five covers.

There are five characteristics of the first meditation, which are called the five branches, namely awareness, contemplation, joy, happiness, and one-mindedness. Sense: The feeling of physical contact with the outside world. The perception at this time is the state of mind of the first Zen, not the perception of the realm of desire. Observation: Inner observation. Jue and Guan are also translated as "seeking" and "serving". The difference between them is: consciousness is a coarser mind; Observation is the observation of the mind in a more detailed way. Hi: The feeling of inner joy. Those who have entered the first meditation find themselves for the first time that they have entered the first meditation, out of the realm of desire, without the troubles of the realm of desire, and they are very happy in their hearts in concentration, that is joy. Happiness: The happiness felt by the five roots of the body. For example: the body feels comfortable after taking a shower; When you are in zazen, when you enter the first meditation, you will feel very comfortable in your body, and that is happiness. Therefore, entering the first meditation is also called "the joy of rebirth", which means that the mind that renounces (the realm of desire) gives rise to feelings of liking and happiness. Single-mindedness: The mind remains immobile in a state of concentration. Yixin also translates to "one-state of mind".

2. Meditation gives birth to joy

After entering the first meditation, if you continue to practice, you will find that the mind of enlightenment and contemplation is very coarse, and the so-called "enlightenment" is the feeling of the environment. "Looking" is all kinds of thoughts. For example, if you feel something change in your body, you generate a thought, you know what it's sitting on, that's awareness, that's awareness. This kind of awareness, contemplation, is that our mind is thinking about things; This kind of thinking is very coarse, and I want to get rid of this coarse thought, because it is also a kind of trouble. When the mind of consciousness and contemplation (seeking, seeking) is set up, it will gradually enter into non-consciousness and non-contemplation (also known as non-seeking and non-seeking). At this time, the mind is as calm as water, in a state of clarity, and the heart is calm and pure, which is called inner meditation, which is different from the tranquility of the first meditation. Since the two meditations are unconscious and non-contemplative, and the mind no longer thinks and judges the realm of contact, and does not distinguish between words, this kind of concentration is also called "holy and silent determination". After a person enters the second meditation, he has no eyes, ears, and body awareness, only consciousness. There are four branches of the second meditation, namely, inner meditation, joy, happiness, and one mind.

Inner Tranquility: Inner peace, feeling that the heart is very pure, and there is no longer the idea of words. Joy: Leaving the senses, the view, the language, the heart is happy. We think in our hearts, although we don't say it with our mouths, but we think things in a verbal way: Indians think in Hindi; The Chinese think in Mandarin or other dialects. In the beginning of Zen, there is awareness and contemplation, which is to think about things with words; And Erzen left the imagination of language, and found that there was no trouble with language, and felt very happy, which is called "joy". Happiness: Feeling very happy with the peace of mind and body. The difference between joy and happiness: After feeling happiness in the body, the heart rejoices. One heart: that is, "determination". Those who enter the second meditation (concentration) are fixed in the state of the second meditation and maintain inner peace.

The three meditations are joyful

If you continue to practice the Three Meditations, your mind will move away from the restlessness of joy, and you will enter a deeper concentration and feel another kind of happiness, "the joy of separation." The happiness in this concentration is the happiness that comes from the heart, regardless of the external circumstances. Since there is no happiness above the three meditations, it is often said in the scriptures that the most happiness in the world is in the three meditations. When a person enters the Three Meditations, only consciousness is at work.

There are five branches of the three meditations, namely, renunciation, mindfulness, wisdom, happiness, and oneness. Shedding: Giving up joy. Thoughts: Thoughts are clear. Wisdom: There is correct knowledge. "Correct knowledge" is the observation of the truth of things with true wisdom, also known as "wisdom". The practitioners of the four meditations can observe this world very correctly, which is called correct knowledge. And we ordinary people judge things by expired memories. Happiness: Happiness due to the abandonment of the troubles of the two meditations. Because there is no happiness above the three meditations, the happiest in the world is the three meditation music. One mind: fixed in the state of the three meditations.

The four meditations are pure

If you continue to practice, you will find that the happiness you feel in the three meditations is still a kind of suffering, and you have no worries in your heart, and you have to give up even happiness. In this way, the mind is pure to the extreme, the breath is completely stopped, and the mind is completely immobile, so the four meditations are also called "immovable concentration". After entering the four meditations, the mind is like a mirror, pure and clear; The fact that the mind does not move does not mean that the mind is useless, but that it can stay in one state and look at that state without the mind moving. In the four meditations, only consciousness is at work. These four must still be in the color world, and they have not left the color body. When you enter the Four Meditations, you can achieve everything you have learned at will, and even cultivate your supernatural powers, and you will immediately be able to cultivate the five spiritual powers; You will definitely be able to develop supernatural powers, but studying in the four meditations is the fastest to achieve. The supernatural power here is not like the induction between some people and ghosts and gods, it is the inner spontaneous ability, because the mind is fixed, so it can be transmitted.

There are four branches of the four meditations, namely, no suffering or happiness, renunciation, pure thought, and one mind. No bitterness or happiness: The heart is not joy, nor is it joy. Shedding: Giving up the joy of the three meditations. Pure thoughts: There are no delusions, but it is okay to start thoughts, and it is all up to the individual, which is called pure thoughts; One mind: The mind is fixed in the state of the four meditations.

Fifth, the empty place is empty and empty, that is, the void. It is said that the four Zen heavens have been determined. I am still tired of being tied up. Not at ease. It's about turning to power. Observe yourself. It's like Luo Gu. Inside and out. Single-mindedly empty. but vanity. There are no hues. His heart is pure. It's all right. Like a bird out of a cage. Soaring. It is the name of the empty place of heaven.

Sixth, know the destiny. The six senses are determined by heaven, and the mind is also. It is said that the sky is fixed in the vacancy. That is, to pervade the void with knowledge. And the void is boundless. With boundless reasons. Centering and dispersing. So he gave up the void. Turn your mind to fate. Corresponding to knowledge. The mind is not moving. Knowing the present, the past, the future. It is now determined. Corresponding to the setting. The mind is not scattered. This is a safe and quiet place. Pure silence. It's a place where the name is determined.

Seventh, there is no place for heaven to know from the sky. Hence the name. The place where you know is determined. With the knowledge of the present, the past, and the future with the heart. Immeasurable. It can be worse than fixed. There is only no mind. The heart is helpless. It's for secrecy. So he gave up his knowledge. Concentrate on nothing. Be diligent and relentless. One heart is pure. Pleasant silence. I can't remember. It is a name for nothing.

8. Non-thinking, non-thinking, non-thinking, and non-thinking are determined to mean that there is a thought in the foreknowledge. Nothing is nothingness. So far. Then there is a thought before leaving. The name is not wanted. I don't think about it. The name is not unexpected. Cover this day, there is no place to go, and the sky is fixed. I know that this place is fascinating. Sleep like darkness. Blinded by ignorance. Nothing is noticed. No cute music. So I concentrate on it. That is, there is nothing in the non-existence. Always reluctant. There is nowhere to decide. and extinguished. Lots of work. Suddenly, the truth is fixed. I don't see whether there is a physiognomy or not. Silence. Pure and inactive. 3. Define the phase. There is no fault. It's a name, it's not a thought, it's not a thing, it's a destiny. (The Three Realms.) Desire. Color Boundary. Colorless realm also. )

......

The monk cultivated the Bodhisattva, but I don't know how long it was, it should be thousands of years, and the Bodhisattva decided to turn into samsara.

I saw him ride a white elephant with six tusks, and the elephant mouth had a white lotus flower in his mouth, descended to the Northern Tianzhu Kapila Guardian Kingdom, and entered the womb from the left rib of Mohe Maya, the wife of the King of Pure Rice, by the method of taking the womb. In the womb, it is said that the heavens say, this is the "Theory of Faith", which opens the appearance of "living in the womb".

On April 8, he was born from the right side of Mrs. Maya, and was born under the Sanssouci tree in Lumbini Garden, becoming the crown prince.

It is said that the prince can walk on the ground, walk seven steps around, give birth to lotus flowers step by step, and raise his eyes to look around, proclaiming: Heaven and earth, only I am respected. Then there were two dragons, one spitting warm water and the other spitting cold water, and bathed him.

When he was nineteen years old, the prince saw the impermanence of old age, sickness, and death in the world, and he had the idea of cultivating the Tao. On a moonlit night, the crown prince resolutely abandoned his throne, wealth, and wife, and quietly left the palace, determined to seek the truth of relief from the pain of life in the mountains and forests. At dawn, the prince arrived in the village of Rama and shaved his hair, put on his robe, and sent his attendants back to the city to report to the king of pure rice that he had become a monk.

The prince practiced asceticism in the ascetic forest for six years, but his body was thin and thin, and he still did not see the Tao. He gave up his asceticism, received an offering from the shepherdess chyle, and was restored to health. The prince came to a nearby big Bodhi tree, laid the Vajra seat with auspicious grass, sat upright in the east direction, and vowed: "If I don't prove it today, the supreme great Bodhi, I'd rather break this body than never be able to live on this seat!" He meditated under the tree for forty-nine days and overcame all kinds of "demonic obstacles" inside and outside.

After practicing, he finally became a Buddha under the Bodhi tree. On the eighth day of the lunar month, when I saw the stars at night, I suddenly realized the reason that all things have no self, "what I do is not more subject to (the body of life and death)", and I have achieved "supreme genuine enlightenment". The world respectfully called him "Buddha" (meaning enlightened one), the holy name "Shakyamuni", and he was Chinese New Year's Eve at the age of thirty-five. When Shakyamuni attained enlightenment, he said, "Wonderful, wonderful! All beings on the earth have wisdom and virtue, but they cannot attain it because of delusional attachment. "Saying that all living beings have Buddha nature.

After Shakyamuni attained enlightenment, he first went to Sarnath to transform five bhikshus, and then successively converted more than 1,000 people. Shakya led 1,250 disciples to travel around the world and preach the Dharma. Shakya pushed the wheel of the Dharma, crushed heresies, and promoted the Dharma, which was called the "wheel". In the past forty-five years, Shakya has gone deep into the people and spread the Dharma to all sentient beings.

Or called into extinction. That is, when Shakyamuni was eighty years old (the Chinese say that he was actually seventy-nine years old), knowing that his life was about to end, he left the city of Wangsha and came to the place of the Twin Trees near the Gunaga, with his head facing north, his right hand supporting his face, his left hand on his body, his feet together, lying on his side, facing west, and entering the realm of Great Nirvana (Great Liberation). Before entering the extinction, he instructed his disciple Ananda: "Those who have become are destroyed, do not let go, you must practice my Dharma diligently, and after I am destroyed, I will take the precepts as my teacher." In addition, Hinayana says that there is no "dwelling in the womb", but there is a "subduing demons" (that is, the temptation to defeat the demons before enlightenment), which is called the "Hinayana Eight Phases".

After Shakyamuni Buddha manifested and achieved supreme enlightenment, in order to liberate sentient beings from suffering, enlightened and enlightened the Buddha, he began the 49-year cause of propagating the Dharma with immeasurable skill and convenience, and the immeasurable Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions also appeared in the world of sampa to help revitalize Buddhism and save sentient beings. Among them, the well-known ones are Guanyin Bodhisattva, Jizo Bodhisattva, Fuxian Bodhisattva, Manjushri Bodhisattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva, etc.

In the forty-nine years of his propagation career, the Buddha initially went straight to his original heart, preached the "Huayan Sutra" for 21 days, and then observed the opportunity to tease the teachings, and said that the "Ahama Sutra" was 12 years, the "Fang Waiting Sutra" was 8 years, the "Prajna Sutra" was 22 years, and the "Lotus Sutra" and "Nirvana Sutra" were a total of eight years. This is a conference-style preaching, and I don't know how many times I have said about the individual edification. The Buddha taught according to his aptitude, ignited the budding, saved countless people from suffering, and influenced countless people to seek refuge and receive ordination. Because of the Buddha's teachings, countless sentient beings renounce evil and cultivate good, repent of their sinful karma, develop bodhichitta, and practice the Dharma. Those who have attained victory over the joy of happiness from this, those who are ultimately liberated, after all, those who have attained the supreme bodhi are immeasurable and boundless. For example, the Buddha preached the Four Noble Truths and the Five Aggregates to the five people who had first practiced with him, such as the Four Noble Truths and the Five Aggregates, in Sarnath, and the five of them were proved to be fruitful after hearing this, and they immediately became monks from the Buddha and took refuge in the Buddha. Since then, the Buddha has traveled all over the world and transformed the crowd.

The French nectar of the Buddha is covered with three roots: upper, middle and lower; So that everyone who hears it can turn their troubles, become Bodhi, and see their minds clearly. Animal paths, such as the Dapeng Golden-winged Bird, the cannibalistic poisonous dragon, and the Rakshasa Devil Mother of the Ghost Dao, have also changed their habits of killing and ignorance, and have become Buddhist protectors. Respect such as the prince Subodhi and Analu; Rich as Mahakāṇa and Sāriputta; Poor as Youboli and Nantuo; Relatives like cousin Ananda and aunt Mahapajapati; as old as a hundred and twenty-year-old Subhadra; As young as the seven-year-old Rahula, he can equally administer the Dharma and become a monk and attain the holy fruit.

The Buddha's equal teachings not only saved the parents of the present world, the relatives who have been robbed of the suffering, and the sentient beings of the six realms, so that they can be free from suffering and happy; The teachings left behind will also cause the sentient beings in future lives to be saved. [2]

The sentient beings in the world of sampa are strong and difficult, do not believe in cause and effect, do not believe in the six realms of reincarnation, are ignorant and fearless of all kinds of evil deeds in the world and the consequences to be received in the future, and indulge in desires and bad habits. The Buddha was compassionate and used his own experiences such as eating horses and wheat and being slandered to explain the reality of sentient beings. And explain in detail the causes and consequences of these things, all of which are felt by the evil done in the past (see "The Buddha Says the Rise of the Sutra"). In order to make sentient beings understand the truth of cause and effect. Do not do any evil, pursue all good, and return to your heart to prove your eternal Dharma body.

The compassionate Buddha's love for all sentient beings, regardless of whether they are rich or poor, whether they are equal in race or religion, led to an increasing number of disciples, and the Sangha (Sangha) was born. Among the Buddha's disciples, however, there are all sorts of virtuous and unscrupulous distinctions. Therefore, the Buddha laid down the precepts and often taught his disciples about the importance of keeping them.

"Lengyan Sutra" cloud: "You often hear that in my Vinaya, you preach that the practice of the three determines righteousness, the so-called heart is the precept, because of the precept to give birth to determination, because of the determination of wisdom." Yes, it is called three no leakage learning. "

The "Legacy Sutra" says: "You and other bhikshus, after I am destroyed, you should respect and cherish the Paratic Wooden Fork." If darkness meets light, the poor will get treasure. When you know that this is Master You, if I live in the world, there is no difference. "

It is the precepts that maintain the purity of the Sangha, and individuals follow the precepts and live a life of the legal system, and the Buddha also prescribed that once every half month, the bhasa recite the precepts and gather to say the precepts, so that all the bhikshus can cultivate a good heart and practice Brahmana in the pure precepts.

Looking back at the dream, it turned out to be the Buddha's Buddhahood. After Liyan woke up, he repeatedly realized that this should be a sign of the Buddha's dream and teaching.

If you come, you have nowhere to come and nowhere to go, hence the name.

Liyan knows that when he steps into the spiritual mountain, his heart also enters the spiritual mountain realm.
