Chapter 2 Hunting and Hunger
I don't know if it was because of the extreme exhaustion of my body that brought me sensory illusions, but that whistle that I didn't know if it was true or not, but it brought me hope for life, and I moved forward even harder. "Where there is life, there is hope for my life." It stirred in my mind and made me believe in it as my belief in survival. Supported by this belief, on the eighth day, a forest appeared in front of my eyes, and the cries of all kinds of birds and beasts came from it, and I didn't care much about it, and plunged headlong into this unknown forest.
I have been in this forest for more than half a month, and my food has finally improved, and there are many wild fruits in the forest, which both quench my thirst and fill my stomach. These wild fruits have solved my food problem, but my physical strength has not recovered much, the human body itself is also carnivorous, I have not been dripping oil for a long time, and I need a little meat to recover my physical strength now. I don't dare to leave this place at all now, at least there is wild fruit in this forest, and if I leave here rashly until I am fully protected, I don't know what awaits me in front of me.
I had a knife in my backpack and a lighter, and I was going to hunt in the forest. I cut down the small branches, divided them into long strips, and made a simple frame out of them, which I plan to use to catch a few birds to open meat. I caught some bugs in the forest, and some fruit scraps, put them under the frame, supported the frame with a wooden strip, tied a slender simple rope linked by bark to the wooden strip, and I hid behind a large tree and waited for the prey to appear. This forest seems to be very big, how big it is, but I don't know, I only move around the area where I stay, there are many birds and animals in the forest, but the only way I can think of now is to catch a few birds, and I can't catch up with other small animals. In a short time two birds came, but they were very large, I had never seen such a bird before, they slowly approached the frame, I was very nervous behind the tree, my excited palms were already sweating, my eyes were staring at them without blinking, one had already gone under the frame, and the other was hovering near the frame, I pulled it violently, and the frame covered the one inside, and the other was frightened and flew into the sky, and disappeared. I quickly grabbed the one in the box, and after I was done, I set up the frame again, but this time it was a rabbit, which probably came sniffing the residue of wild fruits, but this situation was an unexpected joy, and finally it was caught by me and became my appetite.
My strength was finally restored, I didn't bother with food now, staying in this forest would have allowed me to survive, but after I had solved these problems I decided to leave, I decided to cross the forest, and I looked for my way home with one in ten thousand hopes.
I hunted a few more small animals, packed them in my backpack, and brought some wild fruits, but not too much, at least there was no shortage of wild fruits in this forest, and I could pick them along the way. In addition to my backpack, I also brought the hunting tools I had made, which was a rope made of a frame made of twigs and bark. I used to dream of living in the forest, but here, I didn't know anything about the future, I couldn't put much in my heart, so I set out on my way home and traveled deep into the forest. If there is no way to live in front of the forest, then I will stay in the forest and wait for a miracle to appear, but in my cognition, any miracle must require a process of exploration, and it is too passive to wait, and the process of pursuing is the process of miracle appearance. 、
I have been in the forest for so long without rain, and on the fourth day of my walk through the forest, the heavy rain fell indiscriminately, the lightning thundered overhead, and the trees had the effect of guiding lightning when they came into contact with the rain, I was now both scared and excited, afraid that suddenly a lightning bolt would come down, and I was excited that I could finally drink water, I had not drunk water for so long, the way I used to quench my thirst was wild fruits, and now I can finally drink water, I quickly took out a bottle from my backpack to catch water in the heavy rain, I opened my mouth to the sky and let the rain fall, but I had to watch out if the thunder and lightning would suddenly fall down. The rain was really heavy, I couldn't stop for a while, I put the bottle full of water in my backpack, and found a safe place to shelter from the rain, my whole body was soaked, my body felt a little cold, I curled up next to a pile of leaves, I didn't find a place to completely shelter from the rain nearby, the ground was too slippery because of the rain, it was not easy to move around, I only had to wait for the moment when the rain stopped. As the night approached, the rain slowly lightened, and after a while it stopped, and I tried to find some dry branches to make a fire, but because of the rain just after, the branches were as wet as my clothes. I nibbled on a few wild fruits, and I was going to rest like this. The next morning I made a fire, and there was one bird left in my backpack, which I roasted and ate. I'm going to spend two days here, hunt a few small animals, and prepare a little wild fruit, and then I'll be on the road the day after tomorrow.
When I walked out of the forest, I saw a few paths, and I was immediately excited, where there are roads, there must be people, because the roads are trodden by people. I chose a trail and walked along it, and before I knew it was quickening, I felt happy at this moment, as if I was finally relieved, and I told myself in my heart that I would be able to go home soon, as long as I could find someone to inquire about what this place was. Every time I tried the phone, I would turn it off to save as much power as possible, and I tried here again and still couldn't get through, I thought that the place where people lived might get through, but here I couldn't make an emergency call, let alone call home.
I walked along the path for a while, and saw a village in the distance through the mist, and I quickened my pace again.
