1015 [Wenqing Khan]
Khorezm is both the name of a city and a large area of oases.
When the overland Silk Road flourished, whoever could occupy the land would be able to dominate the country. Because Chinese goods came from Chang'an, all the way through the Central Asian states, and eventually had to be transported from Khorezm to Persia.
But with the advent of the Age of Discovery, Khorezm inevitably declined.
The capital of the Khiva Khanate was in Khorezm, and King Anusa succeeded to the throne for only two years. The century-long war has made the country weak and the people poor, and although his father unified the country, he has not been able to restore the people's livelihood and economy.
Not only is it poor, but even the literate ones can't find a few.
Both father and son attached great importance to culture, and Anusha's father, Abkhazi, wanted to write a dynastic history of the Khiva Khanate. However, searching all over the country, he was the only one who could take on this heavy responsibility, and the old king had to go down to compile history himself.
That history book is called "Turkic Lineage", and it is a must-read for the study of Genghis Khan's family.
"Great Khan, a Chinese envoy has come to visit, and it is only more than 100 miles away from the national capital." The court minister said.
"Chinese emissaries?"
Anusa was pleasantly surprised, his country was next to Persia, and his father was on good terms with Persia. When he was still a prince, he often brought Persian books to read, and he also liked to ask passing merchants for news of Persia.
From the Persian merchants, Anusa learned that there was China in the far east, which was the starting point of the Silk Road.
China had a great emperor who kept in constant correspondence with the Persian emperor.
There were several poems written by the Persian emperor in praise of the Chinese emperor, and Anusa would have memorized them a long time ago, and he dreamed of getting in touch with the Chinese emperor.
When Xie Yuan arrived in Khorezm with a delegation of Chinese envoys across the desert, King Anusa had already led his ministers to wait outside the city.
As if it were a festival, Anusha made it necessary for all his subjects to wear the best clothes.
The literate ministers surrounded him, and the illiterate stood farther away. He tried his best to make his country appear rich and cultured, and not to make the Chinese envoys feel too shabby.
"Honorable Chinese envoys, welcome to all the way here." Anusa himself came up to greet him, and in order to show off his knowledge, he used a very pure Persian language.
It just so happened that Xie Yuan also knew Persian and learned it from the Persian envoys.
Xie Yuan bowed his hand and said, "Chinese envoy Xie Yuan, meet the Khan." β
Anusha said, "It is a great pleasure to meet you, please greet the great Chinese emperor on my behalf." β
Xie Yuan said: "I must convey the Khan's kindness." β
Anusa said, "Messengers, please enter the city. β
Xie Yuan introduced as he walked: "This is Ayuqi, the prince of the Turghat Khanate. β
"The Turks have established a state?" Anusha also knew about the Turghut Ministry. A few years ago, his father expanded wildly, swallowing up a large area of Xiaoyuz, and it was already bordering the Turk tribe.
Xie Yuan explained: "The Turks are from China, and His Majesty the Emperor has canonized their leader as king. The valiant Turghut soldiers, who captured Astrakhan last month and used it as the capital to establish a state. β
Astrakhan was occupied by the Mongols?
Anusha was extremely envious of this, his country was on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, and Astrakhan was on the northern shore of the Caspian Sea, and he certainly knew how rich that city was.
Ayuqi greeted in Mongolian: "I have seen the Khan!" β
Anusha also responded in Mongolian: "You are very brave and able to drive away the Russians." β
Anusa has no contact with Russia, and he has no good feelings or hatred. Unbeknownst to him, of course, in another time and space, he had defeated Peter the Great's expeditionary force with the strength of the whole country.
The people came to the palace, which was very dilapidated.
One of the walls is presumably collapsed, and although it has been repaired, there are traces of repair, and the king did not even have the financial resources to decorate the façade.
The banquet was prepared for many days, but it was only lively, and the food was not rich, only bread, wine and roasted whole sheep.
Anusha and Xie Yuan sat opposite each other on either side of the carpet, and their respective subordinates sat behind them. In front of the carpet is a cabaret show, flanked by musicians who play many unnamed Persian instruments.
"Is there really a million people in the city of Nanjing?" Anusha asked curiously.
Xie Yuan replied: "There are 1.2 million people inside and outside the city. β
"What the greatest city in the world," Anusha asked, with a look of yearning on her face, "Is there really no beggar in Nanjing?" β
Xie Yuan explained: "Not only Nanjing has no beggars, but all cities in China do not have beggars. If there were poor people who had lost their livelihood due to disasters and diseases, officials would organize their migration to the north. China's northern provinces, which have experienced a long period of war, have been resettled on land. As for the old, weak, sick and disabled, who have no family to take care of, there are almshouses in every county. The government will give them food and let them do some work within their ability. β
Anusha was shocked: "There are no beggars, the disabled and the elderly can get relief, how rich the country must be, how merciful the emperor of the empire must be." Even if the most beautiful poems in the world are written in the most elegant words in the world, they cannot describe the greatness of the Chinese emperor in 1/10,000. β
"The Khan is also a wise king," Xie Yuan complimented, "I have come all the way, and although your people are poor, they are much better off than the poor people of Tsarist Russia and Xiaoyuz. And the society was in order, and the cities were very clean, which showed that the Khiva Khanate was on the right path. β
This is a slap on the wrist of Anusha, whose father is responsible for unification and expansion, while he is committed to the development of culture, economy and people's livelihood. In just two years of government, the country has settled down, and fewer taxes have allowed the people to breathe.
He also personally coordinated the contradictions between the Uzbeks, Turkmens, Kazakhs, Kararpak and many other ethnic groups, so that all ethnic groups in the country could put aside their disputes and coexist peacefully.
The way to mediate the conflict is to straighten out the interests of all parties, sometimes even at the expense of the king.
If you are really disobedient, then lead the troops to kill!
He also encouraged agriculture and commerce, repaired oases and rivers, and sponsored the capital's aspiring children to read and write with the imams of the city.
Don't think that Anusha is a king who only understands internal affairs, and after ten years of development, he will show his sharp fangs and annex a large part of the territory of the Bukhara Khanate next door.
Wen Taowu is proficient in everything, but it is a pity that this king's foundation is too thin, and he is sandwiched between Tsarist Russia and Persia.
Halfway through the banquet, Xie Yuan took out silk as a gift.
Anusha also untied his exquisite dagger: "Please pass it on my behalf to His Majesty the Emperor of China." As he spoke, he suddenly asked, "Mr. Messenger, do you have any Chinese books with you?" I want to experience the great culture of China. β
Xie Yuan said: "The journey is far away, and I brought a copy of the Tao Te Ching with me. β
"I'm willing to exchange it for you." Anusha was very happy, he was an avid fan of Persian culture and Chinese culture.
"Of course you can, and there is no need to exchange, I can give the book to the Khan," Xie Yuan asked, "but do you know Chinese characters?" β
Anusha said, "I don't know, but there are people in Persia who do." I can copy it down and send it to Persia for translation. I also have a son who is 14 years old and I hope to send him to China to study. My son is very intelligent, he studied in Persia for four years, and he can recite a lot of Persian poetry. β
"Your prince is willing to go to China to study, then I will definitely take him there." Xie Yuan responded and took the prince of the other prince to Nanjing to study, which was also a merit for the envoy.
Next, the khan kept talking about poetry and recited long poems in Turkic that he had written on the spot.
Afraid that Xie Yuan would not understand, he then read the Persian version of his poem.
Wenqing Khan......
That night, all the envoys slept soundly.
Early the next morning, as soon as the sky was bright, Anusha came to the door again and continued to ask Xie Yuan about Chinese culture.
This time it is to talk about history, Xie Yuan can only start with the three emperors and five emperors, and briefly describe the various dynasties of China. All the way to the Mongol period, Anusha became extremely excited, as he was a descendant of Jochi, the son of Genghis Khan.
Xie Yuan said: "The ancestral land of the Khan is now Chinese territory, and all Mongols are Chinese. β
"Let the enmity between the ancestors and the Han people pass," Anusa figured out, and said with a smile, "My distant ancestor Jochi came from China, and China is also the country of my ancestors." This is the historical relationship between our two countries, and it will only bring us closer in the future. If I have the chance, I would like to visit Diaoyu Castle and see how majestic the fortified city that killed the Mongol Khan was. β
Xie Yuan said: "Your Royal Highness, you can take the place of the Khan to take a look." β
"Then it is a matter of word," said Anusha, beckoning to the guards and holding out a history book, "This is my father's 'Turkic Lineage', which records the history of the Mongol expeditions to the west, and elaborates on the lineage of the Golden Family in the Western countries. β
Xie Yuan immediately stood up solemnly, took the history book and put it away carefully, this thing is very precious.
It took more than 10 days to talk about the history of China and the Mongols.
Xie Yuan wanted to talk about the affairs of the Turk Ministry many times, but Anusha deliberately or unintentionally diverted from it.
It was clear that Anusa did not want to get involved in the strife on the northern shore of the Caspian Sea, and he only intended to develop and expand on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea.
This meaning was revealed, and Xie Yuan didn't say much, as long as the two countries didn't go to war, they could remove the southeastern threat of the Turkut State.
When Xie Yuan resigned again, Anusha continued to hold on and began to consult China's political ecology. For example, the state departmental structure, such as the development of the imperial examination system, although it is of little use to the Khiva Khanate, the political framework can be used as a reference.
Xie Yuan has traveled through so many countries all the way, and Anusha in front of him is willing to ask this kind of profound question.
After a month and a half of stay in Khorezm, the Chinese envoys finally left. Instead of returning the same way, they went south to Persia, where they could return by sea by merchant ships.
