The existing "Bamboo Book Chronicle" is divided into two systems: "ancient books" and "present books". The "ancient book" is a compilation of books, and its chronicle began in the Youxia generation and ended in 299 BC, with an irregular style. The "present book" chronicle begins with the Yellow Emperor and ends in the 20th year of King Xiang of Wei (296 BC), and has a relatively complete style.

It should be said that the "Bamboo Book Chronicle" is the only surviving chronicle of ancient China that has not been recorded by Qin Huo. However, it went through a process of re-collection and sorting after being dispersed in the Song Dynasty, which reduced its credibility and historical value to a certain extent.

Yin Ji subverted the image of Yi Yin, the first virtuous minister in history, recorded in the "Historical Records". Yi Yin exiled Taijia and became king, but was absconded back and killed by Taijia.

The young lord was exiled and oppressed by the minister, which seems to be more in line with the truth of history. Due to the decipherment of the oracle bone inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty unearthed in different regions, it was found that the entire Yi Yin of the Shang Dynasty was a symbol of the teacher's power, and the status was respected, and there were records of Yi Yin's exile and return to Taijia, and the descendants of Yi Yin had a high status and power. Therefore, this part of Yin Ji is doubtful and needs to be further studied.

The most different thing from the "Historical Records" of the Zhou Ji is the record of the republican administration. According to the official history such as the "Historical Records", the republican administration is the joint governance of the Duke of Zhou and the Duke of Zhao after King Zhou Li was driven away by the people. And Zhou Ji said that it was the government of the Gongbo and the Son of Heaven, that is, the uncle of the Communist Party, the name and the one who took the throne. This seems more in line with the "republican administration" narrative.

In addition, there is a complete history of Mu Tianzi, as well as a record of the two kings after the death of King Zhou You.

After King Zhou Ping moved eastward, the "Bamboo Book Chronicle" was based on the Jin Dynasty and made the Jin Dynasty.
