Chapter 10: A Quiet Night in Picheng
At night, Ryan and Koterina walked on the white stone paved ground towards the Noxus Embassy, which was not far away.
As they walked, Ryan and Caterina paused at the same time.
"Phi Cheng is really a very safe city." Ryan suddenly sighed.
Caterina scoffed: "In the morning the airport blew up an airship, and in the evening another building was blown up. Do the law officers in Picheng eat dry food, and they will only rush to the scene to clean up the mess after the incident. β
Not far from the two of them, the light of the fire covered half of the sky, and the roar of explosives was incessant. A low building exploded like fireworks, and many buildings around it were affected by pond fish, making the sound of cracking walls.
"Your Excellency, do we need to intercept it?" Caterina asked.
Ryan shook his head slightly, his face thoughtful.
The two of them watched quietly as a bad girl with a blue ponytail walked away, and the girl grimaced at them before leaving.
This girl had also appeared at the airport before, and according to the information he had received before, she was the person who was in charge of Zuan's current controller, Hilco, and it seemed to be called... Jinx?
And if he was not mistaken, Jinx was holding a Hex Crystal in his hand, which contained a completely different energy structure from the one he gave to Victor, and to be more stable, it should be the new Hex technology that was not shown today.
"It's the officer in the morning, fortunately, the only survivor. It seems to be called... Gilamane? β
The two walked to the scene of the incident and found Caitlyn still breathing on the ground, and Caterina raised her eyebrows slightly, a little surprised.
"Caitlin Gillamane. Her mother, Mrs. Giramann, was a member of parliament in Piltover, and she herself was at odds with her mother because of her adherence to justice and her insistence on working on the field. β
Ryan said nonchalantly, pacing towards Catelyn, the ring in his hand glowing blue.
Blue raindrops poured down from Caitlyn's head, droplets of water warming her body, her injuries healing with visible speed.
With that, he tilted his head to the side, and Jace was standing nervously. He was the first to arrive at the scene with the exception of Ryan and his family, and the explosion occurred in his lab.
"That's all I can do, and she'll wake up in a while." Ryan said flatly.
"Thank you for your help, Mr. Meredith."
Jace bowed to Ryan and hurriedly crouched down to help Caitlyn up. At this time, the late-arriving law enforcement officers also took action to clean up the chaotic post-disaster scene.
Seeing a charred corpse being carried out, Jace looked sad:
"Mr. Meredith, I've heard Mel mention you. But I'm really sorry to show you the worst of Piltover. β
Ryan had a look of distraction in his eyes, and his gaze looked behind him through Jace. In the shadow of the building not far away, Victor was standing hesitantly:
"The Valoran continent is not peaceful, such things happen from time to time, even the immortal fortress of Noxus is no exception. Is there a clue to the perpetrator? β
"It should have been done by the people of the lower city." Jace gritted his teeth, "Everyone belongs to Piltover, I can't figure out why they did this." β
Who's with you?
Ryan shook his head in his heart, faced the idealist in front of him, and asked:
"What do you think of Picheng and Zaun? It's my first time here, but neither of these places looks like a city, whether it's heard or seen. β
Jace hugged Caitlyn's hand tightly, "My partner is from Zaun, and I have no prejudice against it. β
After he said this, let alone Ryan, even Caterina couldn't help but look at him strangely.
If there is really no bias, is it necessary to emphasize this sentence?
Just as Ryan was about to say something, Caitlyn opened her eyes weakly:
"Jace?"
"Caitlin, great, good thing you're okay." Jace breathed a sigh of relief and gave Ryan an apologetic look.
"I... How are they. Caitlin struggled to get up, but her weakness prevented her from moving.
"Miss Gilamann, my magic only helped you recover from your injuries, and the impact of the explosion on your body will have to keep you up for a while." Ryan spoke up.
"You are? ... Noxians in the morning, why are you here? Caitlin frowned, she didn't have a good impression of the Ryans.
"Caitlin, it was Mr. Meredith who saved you. As for the other magistratesβ" Jace flashed with grief, his gaze unconsciously looking at the corpses.
"How is that possible!?"
Caitlin followed his line of sight and saw a scorched black lying not far away, her pupils narrowed, and she almost fainted again.
"Do you have any clues, this attack is unusual. Hex's crystals were stolen, and several important research materials were taken away. β
Jace's face was urgent, and what was lost was important. If they are obtained by those who can use them, it may lead to war.
He only assured Heimerdinger and Mel today that there would be no accidents at Hextech, and he was a little ashamed that there would be an accident less than a day later.
This couldn't help but remind him of something about a few years ago, when his Hex Crystal was stolen by the Downtown, and the same laboratory was blown up, which led to a series of incidents.
However, the results of that time were not bad, and he met Mel and Victor, and successfully researched Hextech.
But this time... Let's hope it's a good ending...
Jace was thinking wildly, waiting for Caitlin to remember what had happened.
"Let me think..."
Caitlin was lost in thought, frowning, distressed.
After a while, she was full of excitement, and blurted out excitedly:
"I remember, I'm sure it was someone from the lower city who did it! And this morning the airport bombed the airship was a group of people. β
Jace also asked eagerly, "Is there a suspicion target?" β
Caitlin shook her head in annoyance: "I only know that the perpetrator will draw a monkey logo, and that mark is also on the airship at the airport." And I vaguely saw a blue-haired woman before I fell unconscious, and I don't know the rest. β
"It's okay, it's enough to know this information." Jace reassured.
"You don't have to worry about this matter, I'll find out for myself, the lower city is a bunch of filthy rats." Caitlyn raised her eyebrows slightly, with a stubborn look on her face, "Although I didn't have a chance to interrogate the prisoner in the airship at that time, I got a lot of information from another gangster captured by Mr. Meredith. β
"Can I hear where he came from?"
Ryan was interested, and he didn't think the green-haired man had a strict mouth.
"Of course." Caitlyn didn't mind either, "That guy belongs to the Wildfire Gang, which is said to be the biggest gangster force in Zaun. β
Hearing this, Ryan's complexion gradually turned strange.
If Noxus's intelligence is correct, the biggest gangster force in Zaun should be Hilko, and the Wildfire Gang can only be regarded as a second-rate, if it weren't for the flying skateboard, it would have been served a long time ago.
"They didn't think Glimmer was supposed to exist in this world, so that operation was to destroy the Glimmer on the airship."
"Who is the person behind the Glimmer? I heard Mel say that the ship was full of contraband. Jace said with a look of disgust.
"He didn't know that we had captured a captive of the forces behind the Glimmer on the ship. But Congressman Myrdarda was busy sending glimmers to the Noxians, and the sheriff wouldn't let me interrogate, and I couldn't help it. Caitlyn had regret on her face.
Seemingly on good terms with Jace, Caitlyn added, "I'm not going to give up, though!" I'll look into it myself. β
"Don't mess around, it's dangerous for people in the lower city. I'll propose tomorrow in Parliament a thorough investigation of the Lower Town, and I'm sure Mel and Professor Heimerdinger will agree. Jace's tone was firm.
Ryan listened quietly to the conversation between the two men, looking playfully at a shadow behind Jace. I don't know when it started, the people in the shadows... Gone.
"Mr. Tallis, Miss Gilamann. It's getting late, and I wish you all a nice evening. β
Jace nodded solemnly at Ryan, "Mr. Meredith, on behalf of Piltover, I would like to thank you for today's incident and thank you for your help. β
"Small problem, I hope Picheng can have a quiet tomorrow."
Ryan waved his hand and walked away with Caterina without looking back.
Piltover... Things seem to be getting more and more interesting...
