Chapter 17: The Calm Before the Storm

As night approached, the Tavern Fogen welcomed an unusual guest.

"Hilco, how did you promise me! You said you would be optimistic about her, but this time we killed 6 law enforcement officers! 6 pcs! ā€

The middle-aged man in the police uniform of a law enforcement officer had an angry face and glared at Shilco with a flat face in front of him.

"Six? You should be glad she didn't blow you up. Sheriff Marcos" Hilco was expressionless.

"What do you mean?" Marcos' expression tightened, his eyes wary.

"That person is being held in Stillwater Prison, you didn't tell me, I thought she was dead."

Hilco's eyes flickered with coldness, and he snapped the cigar tip with the cigar tong in his hand, lit it and took a puff.

"It's... How do you know? Marcos was dumbfounded, "She'll be locked up there forever, and no one will find out." ā€

"Oh, she's been released, and the lady of the Gilamane family has personally raised the person, and the paperwork has been signed by the new councillor."

Hilco spoke slowly, but Marcos could sense the killing intent exuding from the other party.

He was a little nervous, and he couldn't care about the death of the six law enforcement officers, and said in a panic:

"I really don't know, I can't take care of the councilor's affairs, not to mention that Giramann is restless in the first place."

"yes, so there's always something to be paid for your mistakes." Hilco stood up and looked down at Marcos in a cold sweat, "Tonight, I'm going to make a big disturbance in the west of the city, I don't think you care, right?" ā€

"Chengxi? Still Water Prison? But hasn't she already been released? Marcos looked nervous.

"But I have one of my men there, and the man you supposedly captured in the Wildfire Gang is there. We've been getting a headache from the Wildfire gang lately, and it's time to get something to do with them. ā€

"Don't mess around, today the council has issued an order to thoroughly investigate Zuan, you will finish us all in this way." Marcus' eyes widened.

"Finished? As long as you cooperate, nothing will happen. Instead, with the help of the Wildfire Gang, you can take a small step forward. ā€

Hilco stepped forward, gently straightened Marcos's shirt, and looked at him with a smirk.

"I—" Marcos's mouth opened, feeling the fierce gaze of the two big men behind him, and said silently, "I will cooperate with you, but you have to promise me not to expose this." ā€

"Rest assured, we are partners. Not to mention the friendship between us, you are more valuable than you think. ā€

Hilco's face was satisfied, and he made a gesture to Marcos and asked his men to take him away.

After Marcus left, Victor, who had been sitting not far away, spoke:

"Do you need my help over there in Stillwater Prison?"

"Mr. Butler, if you need to bother to make a feint, I'll just let Jinx go." Hilco smiled and refused.

In his eyes, Jinx's destructive power is much smaller than Victor's, and at most it is a little girl's fight.

Really let Victor go there, and as soon as the launch line goes down, Zhencheng and Picheng will never die.

Besides, if the Gilamane family can't handle it, maybe Mr. Butler will have to help.

"I wish you success, I'll be in Piltover in the evening, and if you need help with anything, you can send a signal."

Victor tossed a freshly crafted flare to Hilco and left Forgen's Tavern through the doorway.

"Do you want to follow him?" Servica flicked the more powerful robotic arm with a look of eagerness on her face.

"If you want another robotic arm, I don't mind if you do it." Hilco threw the flare at her, "Do what you have to do, and better don't mess me up tonight." ā€

"Don't worry, I'm more reliable than that guy. You're still worried about the still water prison. Sevica grinned and swaggered away.

......

Half an hour later, Jace's grumbling came from inside the Hexfly Gate:

"Yesterday's events were not so simple at all, the smuggling case, the bombing case, these are just the tip of the iceberg, the smuggling of the flying gate is happening every day, and the Wildfire Gang and the forces that control the glimmer have not stopped."

He stood on a platform and paced, his face bored.

"That's what you called me for? Listen to you here about how discordant there is between the upper and lower cities, and these are not our business, we are scientists. Victor frowned.

He had already taken off the monocle, and as soon as he returned to Piltover, he was called here by Jace, thinking that there was some new Hex to discover, but he didn't expect that it was some dirt in the upper and lower towns.

"Victor, I'm a councillor now! It's my job to protect the Hexflyer. Jace looked resolute.

"Professor Heimerdinger is not as dedicated as you."

Victor leaned against the railing on the side of the platform, looked at the resoluteness on Jace's face, and thought of what he had experienced in Zaun, and was silent for a while before speaking:

"Do you remember what you promised me? Seek development for the people of Xiacheng. I am from Zu'an, and I know very well what the people of Xiacheng lack, so that they can live with dignity, and most of your troubles can be solved immediately. ā€

Jace sighed tiredly, helplessness on his face:

"I'm really sorry I didn't mention our other projects in the presentation, but soon we will be able to achieve them..."

"Soon?" Victor sneered, "You are Mr. Parliamentarian of Piltover and need someone else's consent to promote some technology?" When you were promoting Hextech back then, you didn't have the same concerns as you do now. ā€

"Victor, you don't understand," Jace looked embarrassed, "because I'm standing in a different position than I used to be, I need to think about more things, but trust me, if this is settled, I'll do it." ā€

"yes, the location is different." Victor smiled self-deprecatingly with disappointment in his eyes.

I've already come to my senses, haven't I?

Wow, wow, wow.

There was a sound of footsteps, and Sergeant Marcus straightened up and walked up to Jace.

He glanced at Victor and felt a little familiar, but when he thought that the other party was a famous scientist from Piltover and the celebrity around the two councilors, he was relieved, and said respectfully to Jace:

"Mr. Councillor, I heard you were looking for me?"

"Have you checked all these lists?" Jace asked, pointing to the papers in his hand.

"I assure you..."

"I just want to clear all the offending products." Jace interrupted forcefully.

"I don't know, you'll have to talk to the other councillors." Marcos shrugged.

Looking at Jace who was staring at him, his face was a little more difficult, but he still gritted his teeth and reminded:

"Mr. Councillor, I don't think you should care about this now."

"Regardless of these? These will affect the safety of the flying gate, and if I don't do it, I should step down. Jace laughed.

"However, I received a message that the people of the lower city want to storm the still water prison tonight. If it is not dealt with there, you will not be far from stepping down, Mr. Councillor. Eventually, Marcos spoke up.

Victor's figure was blocked by Jace's tall frame, and he listened to the conversation in front of him with a smile.

"Still Water Prison? That's supposed to be what your sheriffs should be deploying, why does it have anything to do with my downfall? Jace looked puzzled.

"Mr. Councillor, Miss Gilamane has taken your signature to the still water prison to bring a prisoner out." Marcos reminded, "That prisoner is about the balance between us and the lower city. She is in prison, everyone is safe, she comes out, and when she goes down, she will make trouble. ā€

"What prisoner is so important?" Jace laughed angrily, "And, when do we Piltover need to compromise with a group of terrorists?" ā€

"Mr. Councillor, I am risking the death of my family to warn you, if you have this attitude, I will be believing the wrong person." Marcos laughed mockingly, shook his head and was about to leave.

"Please wait, Mr. Sheriff." Jace hesitated for a moment, but stopped Marcos.
