Chapter 42: A Burning Heart

Walking down the streets of Newsal, Forde looked at the dark sky, his heart filled with gratitude and relief.

My sister entered a large hospital, which was able to have five buildings, and was treated at night in a hospital guarded by Mr. Guard. Forde didn't know the name of the hospital, he couldn't read. But he knows that the ability of the doctors in the hospital is related to the size of the hospital.

The bigger the hospital, the more people who work here who are not doctors, the higher the level of the hospital. This is a lesson that Forde summed up in his sixteen years of life.

The nearest hospital to his home was a small clinic with only an elderly doctor who poured rye wine down his throat all day long with a big, filthy wooden wine glass. And after the old doctor saw his sister's condition, the old doctor did not treat her in any way.

He grabbed Forde by the collar and shouted, "Take your sister to the big hospital in the city, right away!" After more than three hours of untreated, she was dead! โ€

Forde didn't know how long three hours was. But for the sake of his sister's life, he desperately sent her to the city of Upper Albin. And at the gate of the magnificent Internal Affairs Bureau, I met the kind old man.

He saved his sister, forcibly allowed himself to share a carriage with him, and even rewarded himself with two sweet loaves of bread, a hefty sum of ten shillings, and ...... and a job.

Forde felt his body, which was already close to collapse, regain his strength. He even felt like he was warm all over his body.

On a cold Neusal night, under the stars with only two moons hanging in the sky, Forde took off his coat and carefully put it on his arm.

He continued to try to move forward, even wanting to hum a minor tune. He now had a ten-shilling note in his pocket. This was enough for him to become one of the richest people in the village.

Even Uncle Wald's house couldn't have found a ten-shilling note, right?

It seemed to be getting hotter, and Forde continued walking, feeling that he was walking fast, but as if he were walking slowly. He may be lying on the ground, but he appears to be walking normally.

This feels so strange, does it happen after the food of the noble lords is eaten?

He took off his shirt again, and now all he had was left was a tattered vest. He only had a pair of pants on his legs, and a large piece of his trouser leg was torn.

Before, Forde had always felt that the wind pouring in from his trouser leg was cold, and he was very uncomfortable. But not anymore, he felt warm on his legs, even a little too hot.

It was as if the gas outlet of the boiler was blowing towards his leg, which felt a little uncomfortable.

Despite the discomfort, Forde decided to leave it alone. His plan now is to go to the industrial area mentioned by the unknown kind-hearted old man as soon as possible, and then hand over the business card to the people.

The village where his family lives is so far away that if he walked back and came back again, it would take more than a day to do so.

Anyway, now that it's warm, it's better to go directly to the industrial area, and then wait for dawn to go directly to Lawson's company.

I don't know how long I walked, but Forde finally felt that he had walked into the industrial area.

He had never been to this place, but he just felt that he had come to where he should be.

Reaching for his business card with his sluggish hand, he wanted to ask someone if he had walked somewhere, but the people on the street were looking at him strangely.

Forde felt that the freedmen of the city must have never seen the poor. They may be a little scared of themselves.

It's okay, I'll just wait.

Forde sat down in a corner, then pinched the business card and began to fantasize about his future life with hope that he had never had.

With a stable job, you can eat all-you-can-eat rye bread every day, right? A new dress and a new pair of shoes every year...... You might even have a straw shed of your own.

Perhaps, after a few years of hard work, he will not have to live in the living room of Uncle Wald's house with his grandmother and sister.

Good days are coming, thanks to the strange and kind aristocratic lord, thanks to his reward. My sister will get better, and so will I...... Life will be fine for the whole family.

He struggled to look up at the glittering starry sky. A satisfied smile was revealed.

The stars in the sky seemed to sense his gaze, and they were like steam and smoke that sprayed into the sky. In the black smoke, thousands of sparks exploded in front of his eyes, and a bright and brief light pierced through the darkness and shone on Fude's body.

He felt warm and comfortable.

At the door of Congressman Androni's campaign office, Rosen was holding a business card in his hand, and the look on his face was not very good.

The councilor's campaign office was not a place for outsiders to enter casually, and after he asked the guards to report it, he himself waited at the door for Master Dussander to come out.

After a while, Dusson walked out of the office, he was a little surprised to see Rosen, and then he saw the business card in Rosen's hand.

"Why did you come here with a business card? He doesn't fit into the Lawson company? Dussaint really didn't expect that the first time he wrote a note to Rosen to do something, he was refuted.

This made him feel a little shameless.

However, Lawson Company is also Lawson's own industry. He is responsible for his investments, and that's really not wrong.

Dussaint sighed, since Rosen was not prepared to take the poor man, then let it not be. Anyway, in a few days, the young man was informed that his sister was seriously ill and died.

Lawson shook his head, he took the business card and said with difficulty, "Master, the person holding this business card...... Frozen to death in Sunset Square last night. โ€

Dussaint was stunned.

"His hypothermia is so severe that the detectives found him hiding under the statue of the Duke of Saint-Sal when they went on patrol this morning." Rosen whispered, "According to the detectives, he was wearing only a pair of thin torn pants and a tattered vest. His coat and shirt were taken off by himself. โ€

Rosen looked up at Dusand and said, "Some of the people who die from the cold will hallucinate before they die. They will feel as if they are in the summer, and the heat is too much to control. Then he took off his clothes one by one, and finally died quickly. โ€

Dussander felt as if something was being grabbed in his heart.

"I don't know his name yet, or even if he has a living family." After a long silence, Dussander commanded, "Let your people go and ask if he has any family alive." If not...... Go to the General Hospital of the Colonial Agency, take out his sister's body, and find a place to bury it together. โ€

Rosen turned to leave after receiving the order, and Dusand looked at his back, feeling empty in his heart.

He'd given the unknown boy a chance to change his life, but alas...... God doesn't seem to be going to give him this chance.
