Chapter 21: Blockade

Newsar, which is currently in lockdown, is now in the midst of a slightly smaller, but 10,000-hundred-fold blockade than the Empire.

In the aftermath of the Palmer train station attack, Aika has been trying to find the culprit behind the terrorist attack. At the same time, they are also very cautious in finding the source of chlorine according to Dussand's orders.

In the sewers of Palmer train station, heavily armed Ekka agents found more than 300 abandoned high-pressure gas cylinders. These cylinders are all unmarked, and the new high-pressure cylinders -- and in that respect alone, the cost of this terrorist attack is outrageous.

The cost of a new high-pressure gas cylinder is quite high, such as the oversized high-pressure gas tank that the Eka agents found in the sewers, which cost an average of 25 gold pounds each, and that is the price before the Empire began to blockade Newsar.

Right now...... Under the strict blockade of the Empire, Newsar had already begun to list the special metals for the manufacture of high-pressure gas storage tanks as strategic control materials. These 300 high-pressure gas cylinders are very telling in themselves.

If the other side has been prepared for this for a long time, it has a very strong production capacity and a very sufficient reserve that is not under the control of the Newsal authorities.

This kind of organization has a huge negative impact on the stability of Newsal, and of course every effort must be made to deal with it.

But to Dusson's surprise, this "organization" seems to have more than that.

According to Ms. Tamara's findings, Newsal's bonds are concentrated in three main segments.

The high-ranking nobles of Newsar, represented by the Duke and the Marquis, held a total of 14% of the Royal Bank's debts. Together, the five largest companies in Newsal own 12% of Royal Bank's debt.

The remaining 74 percent of the claims are concentrated in the hands of six individuals who are labeled as "unemployed".

It is unusual for unemployed individuals to hold claims worth tens of millions of gold pounds. What is even more unusual is that these debts have been transferred from the big nobles and corporations to these "unemployed individuals" in the last ten years.

It is worth noting that these "unemployed individuals" all have low-ranking titles, and without exception are not natives of Newsal. They are all "outsiders" who have only come to settle in Newsar from Orin in the last decade.

The movement of nobles is a relatively rare thing in itself, and even non-hereditary nobles with low titles and no fiefs have the obligation to owe allegiance to their lord and pay an annual tribute. Bound by this obligation, few nobles were able to leave their planet and live elsewhere.

Newsar Aika followed the path and searched for something even more "surprising".

The titles of these six "unemployed" lords and knights vary from one place to another, but they can all be traced back to a great nobleman whom Dussander had never met but heard of, and with whom he had taught, the Grand Duke of Hall.

Fifteen years ago, Grand Duke Hall suddenly canonized a group of servants who were very close to him. Among them were the six men who had come to Newsal, who had been the valets, grooms, and gardeners of the Grand Duke of Hall.

Most of these canonized servants had only one thing in common - they had served Archduke Hall for many years, and their family had always served the Norton family, to which Archduke Hall belonged. In Earthly terms, these people are like the "coated minions" of the Norton family, completely dependent on the Norton family politically and economically.

Where the other low-ranking nobles who were canonized have gone, Newsar Aika can't grasp for the time being. It is evident, however, that six of them came to Newsard, and soon after their arrival in Newsard, they began to buy up the claims of the Royal Bank of Newsall, which were held by other nobles and corporations.

For more than a decade, the six received a large amount of gold pounds from the Royal Bank of Newsal. In addition to sending them back to Olin, about a third of the remaining gold pounds were used to acquire many of the key factories in Newsar. These include two high-pressure vessel manufacturing plants in Palmer. and a mineral importing company that would have been part of a mining complex.

They have the money, they have the manufacturing capacity, they have the ability to import and store strategic goods that are not in the hands of ordinary administrative officials and Ekka agents.

The available evidence alone was enough for Dussaint to take decisive steps and conduct a thorough screening of the entire city of Palmer, from which all the servants who had been remotely controlled by the Grand Duke of Hall.

Morse's liaison was the root cause of Dussand's decision to blockade the city of Palmer altogether.

After leaving the Palmer City train station, Morse made a very risky decision. He returned to a branch of the El Party in Palmer and reported the attack on the party headquarters that he had "discovered".

It is clear that no matter who attacked them was at their disposal, the El party in Palmer City did not get all the news that Morse was a traitor. At least now the leaders in charge of the work of the El Party in Palmer are not clear about this.

Morse was right.

The leaders of the Ayr Party praised Morse for his positive reporting, and then gave the poor widower a more important but more leisurely job.

The Ayr Party ordered Morse to assist with the "clean-up" of the Palmer high-pressure vessel factory. And he was told exactly what the clean-up was going to be, and he would know it when he got to the factory.

At the factory, Morse found dozens of huge round reactors, as well as the liquid left in the reactors before they could be cleaned up.

One of the workers who came to clean the reactor fell directly into the reactor because of his lack of relevant experience. By the time Morse commanded the others to rescue the hapless man, he was already showing the same symptoms as those who had been attacked on the train station square.

The unfortunate man's skin seemed to have been scalded with boiling water, and the cause of his death was the profuse discharge from his mouth and nose.

He, like others who had been gassed, had been suffocated to death by his own secretions.

There is no doubt that the six low-ranking nobles who obey the orders of Duke Hall are closely related to the El Party. And their cooperation with the El Party was the source of this terrorist attack.

After receiving Morse's report, Dusand immediately decided to completely lock down the entire city of Palmer, withdrawing all the existing 350,000 residents of Palmer and decentralizing them. Aika and the Interior Committee worked together to wipe out the terrorists and the Al-El Party hiding among the residents.
