Song Dynasty calligraphy Mi Fu called it "the first post of Chinese calligraphy". "Feng Ben" is a copy of Feng Chengsu, an official of the Tang Dynasty, because the first part of the volume has the left half of the word "Shenlong", and later generations also called it "Shenlong Ben", because of the use of "double hook" copy, it is the closest to the authentic work of Lanting in the Tang Dynasty copy. It is the facsimile that best reflects the original appearance of the Rantei.
"Dingwu Ben" is the great calligrapher Ouyang Xun of the Tang Dynasty Linben, in the Northern Song Dynasty Xuanhe period outlined the stone, because in the Northern Song Dynasty Qingli period found in Hebei Dingwu and named. Dingwu original stone for a long time only rubbing, this is the original stone rubbing, is the most precious version of Dingwu Lanting carving. It is a pity that the treasure of the calligraphy industry of "the first line of calligraphy in the world" and "Guiyue group products, ancient and modern Mo Er" is still confusing and missing.
It is said that Wang Xizhi himself also cherished his "divine help" work "Lanting Collection Preface", and regarded it as a family heirloom, all the way down to the 7th generation of Sun Zhiyong. Zhiyong became a monk at a young age, and died at the age of 100, before his death, he passed this treasure to his disciple Distinguishing Monk, and then his whereabouts were unknown.
