An old poem that I like very much - share it with you

Bai Juyi - "Dance of Seven Virtues"

The Seven Virtues Dance, the Seven Virtues Song, are passed from Wude to Yuanhe.

Yuan and the minister Bai Juyi, watching the dance and listening to the song know that he is happy,

At the end of the day, the music is the first to tell the story.

Taizong raised eighteen volunteers, and Bai Ming and Huang Yue set two capitals.

Capture and kill Dou Sihaiqing, and four achievements in twenty.

Nine out of twenty are the emperor's throne, and five out of thirty are peaceful.

The success is determined by the speed of God, and the speed is in the heart of the heart.

The remains of the dead were scattered and collected, and the hungry sold their sons for ransom.

Wei Zheng dreamed of crying in the middle of the night, and Zhang Jin cried when he heard Chenri.

3,000 resentful women were released from the palace, and 400 death row prisoners returned to prison.

Cutting whiskers and burning medicine gave meritorious heroes, and Li Ji whimpered and thought of killing.

Sucking the warriors with blood, Simo screamed and begged to die.

Then you know that you are not only good at fighting and riding well, but you will touch everyone's hearts with your heart.

In the past 190 years, the world has been singing and dancing.

Seven virtues of song, seven virtues of dance, saints have no limits.

Wouldn't it be a disciple to show off its martial arts, and how could it be a disciple to praise the holy text.

Taizong intends to Chen Wangye, and Wang Ye is difficult to show his descendants!

The translation is as follows

1 Bai Huang Yue Ding Liangjing: 旄 (mao) a kind of flag, with a yak

The tail is made and tied to the head of the flag. Yue (yue) is an ancient weapon, made of bronze or iron, shaped like a plate axe and larger.

2 capture and kill Dou Sihaiqing: "Chong" refers to Wang Shichong. "Dou" refers to Dou Jiande.

3 The remains of the dead were scattered and collected: In the early years of Zhenguan, Tang Taizong ordered the burial of the remains of all the war dead in the war, and buried them after sacrifices;

4 Hungry people sell their children and share the money for ransom: In the second year of Zhenguan, not long after the country was settled, there was a great famine, and there was a case of parents selling their children due to hunger.

5 Wei Zheng dreamed of crying at midnight: The minister Wei Zheng was critically ill, Taizong was worried about his condition, and dreamed in the middle of the night that Wei Zheng came to say goodbye, so he woke up and couldn't help crying. On this night, Wei Zheng really died, and Taizong personally inscribed an inscription for him: "In the past, Yin Zong was good in his dreams, and now I have lost the virtuous minister in the wake of Jue!

6 Zhang Jin mourned and cried on the day of Chen: Another virtuous minister Zhang Gongjin died, Taizong personally treated the funeral, and he couldn't help but be sad, and Yousi hurriedly played: "The sun is in Chen, yin and yang are taboo, don't cry." [Now that the sun is in the chen position, according to the taboo of yin and yang, it is not allowed to cry, and it is unlucky to cry. Taizong said: "The monarch and the minister are righteous, and the love of father and son is also." [The love of our monarchs and ministers is deep, like father and son. My grief comes from the heart, and I don't care what time it is!]"

7 Resentful women were released from the palace: Taizong said to his courtiers: "The woman is claustrophobic in the deep palace, and her feelings are really embarrassing. So he ordered Zuo Cheng to wear a chow and Du Zhenglun to the west gate of the Yeting Palace, picked out thousands of people, and released them all. [愍 (man) in the original sense commands a person to be grieved; a sad thing].

8 400 death row inmates returned to prison: Taizong was also deeply afraid of unjust imprisonment, and often personally interrogated the case. In the sixth year of Zhenguan, Taizong personally took care of the prison, and finally determined that nearly 400 prisoners should be executed. But Taizong took pity on them and let them return to their hometowns and ask them to come back next autumn to carry out the execution. In the autumn of the following year, all 400 prisoners returned, and none of them escaped, so Taizong ordered an amnesty for them.

9 cut the beard and burn the medicine to give the hero, Li Ji whimpered and thought about killing: Taizong personally fought in his early years, and he was deeply kind to the generals. General Li Ji (ji) was sick for a long time and could not be cured, the doctor said that he wanted the dragon whisker to burn ashes and dispense medicine, and Taizong personally cut his beard [in ancient times, the "parents of the body's hair and skin" were very important, and haircuts and shaving were taboo things], Li Ji's condition improved after taking the medicine, and he was moved to whimper and asked to kill him in revenge.

10 Blood sucking Chuangfu soldiers, Simo shouted and begged for death: General Li Simo was hit by an arrow, Taizong was afraid that he would be poisoned, so he helped him suck blood, Li Simo wrapped his wound and shouted with his arms, asking for death.

Basically, this can be regarded as the standard of the ancient saint!
